Any concerns about Best this week? (1 Viewer)

Has anyone heard if Best will get the GL carries? The only guys on the roster are Smith coming back from injury and old Morris.

I've read he's going to be the Lions 3-down back but is he a lock to get rock at the GL?

He will get enough yards and recptions to make this a non-issue. Though in pre-season he has been running with the red zone crew. That being said Felton may be the vulture here, though I haven't heard much about him. Best is the the most intresting player to watch for in week 1, and I don't wan't to miss out on the ground floor.

Concerns? No, none.
Only one. Rookie RB's tend to concentrate on running and less about ball security. Best hasn't had that problem, but this will be his first NFL game. You can bet some LB or safety is gonna see if the rookie knows how to hold on to the ball. If he can hold on to the rock, I see no reason why he can't tote it into the zone.My prediction. 86 yards 1TD, 0 fumbles

Catches man where are the catches?

If this is a legit concern, wouldn't it be a concern for the entire season rather than just week 1? In any case, while he may not get many goal line looks (then again, he might), he'll get enough yards, both rushing and receiving, and long TDs to put up solid numbers. Think Ray Rice last year--not saying Best will put up the same numbers, but McGahee vultured a ton of TDs, and Rice still finished top 5.

No concerns whatsoever, he is the man.

Prediction: Somewhere between Barry and Billy:

Sanders first game: 9-71-1 no catches

Sims first game: 22-153-3 and 2-64

I'm going against the grain apparently.

Sitting Best for Brown and Bradshaw in one league, and for Caddy in another.

All seem like good alternatives, so I'm taking a wait-and-see approach this week with Best.

I'd bench all Lions against the Bears.
I think he's a Bears fan. :)
I'm a Bears and I would agree....if it were 2005 but it's not and the Bears are as susceptible to the big play as any team in the league. Nobody can tackle in that secondary and Tillman tries to strip the ball instead of tackling. Bears win 124-118 and Best scores 15 touchdowns.

That seems like a poor choice to me. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

My only concern is that I'm going to jizz in my pants after watching Best score a 50+ yard TD in his first NFL game. I'm going to be wearing a condom tomorrow just in case.

First off...when was the last time the Lions got any goal line carries, secondly if Best rips off a 50 yrd td, I will also mess my shorts, third I am expecting about 5 balls caught for about 60 - 70 yrds and then what ever he gets rushing..any tds will be gravy.

I strongly considered starting Caddy instead of him this week, but going to roll the dice with the rook.

The Bears tend to give up the big play rather easy, so I think the likelihood of him breaking big runs or taking screens and dump offs for big gains is very high.

That said... I could also see the Lions getting very pass happy against the Bears as that is the major weak link in the Bears D, the secondary.

Even if the Lions do pass a ton there is a strong case for Best getting a lot of catches, which is what sealed the deal in me going with him.

I could see him doing something along the lines of 88 yards rushing, 8 catches for 70 yards and a TD, which is a very nice day.

And.. the Bears will lose badly. I'd be SHOCKED if the Lions do not get into the 30's and Stafford with 4 TD's.

now thats some funny ####! and great preparation on your part, i might add.

Not really. I don't even think Soldier Field on the road will be a huge deterrant. I think he'll break a big one to put together a solid fantasy day.

My only concern is Cal with Shane Vereen as its starting tailback. But Keenan Allen is easing that some!

I have sky-high expectations for Best for at least 10 games this year. I wish I had him on every one of my FF teams.

I'm starting him over Mathews, after the news about Mathews not getting any 3rd down work. Anybody else doing this?

My only concern is that Im starting Arian Foster over Best today, and I really hope that isnt a mistake. But knowing me, it probably will be

If you don't start Best today, you might not get to until week 4.

He has Philly, Then Min, Then GB in the next 3 weeks. Those are some tough run D's, and if you don't play him today, you might not get to until STL week 5.

Of course he could completely blow up week 1 and then you might be starting him against those defenses anyway.

You're the best, the best! Nothing's gonna ever keep you down!

Absolutely no concerns this week. Sure, he may lose goalline touches, but so may Ray Rice.

Just announced that Kevin Smith is out on Fantasy Football Now. That's it...pulling Ryan Mathews for Best as if I needed any more reason. Sorry no link.
