Any info on Addai's injury? (1 Viewer)

All I can find is generic stories saying shoulder injury. Any homers know if he's going to miss some time?

INDIANAPOLIS -- Starting RB Joseph Addai was giving Peyton Manning and the Colts the steady, chain-moving presence they needed against a Kansas City Chiefs defense aligned to take away the big pass play. That is, until Addai left in the third quarter with an undetermined shoulder and neck injury.

It didn't seem serious. But it's another setback for a team that counts heavily on Addai as both a runner, pass protector and receiver who was split wide several times against the Chiefs.

With Addai's backup Donald Brown scratched before kickoff due to a hamstring injury, it was up to third-year, third-stringer Mike Hart to step up.

The former Michigan standout re-booted the Colts run game and his career with a solid, clutch performance. Hart showed good patience, setting up his blockers on what proved the winning, 11-yard touchdown in a 19-9 Colts win against the Chiefs.

Prior to Sunday's 11-carry, 50-carry, one-touchdown performance, Hart had just four carries for zero net yards this season. Last season, Hart appeared in just nine games, running for 70 yards and a touchdown after suffering a season-ending knee injury and being placed on injured reserve Oct. 14, 2008.

"It was good to see Mike,'' said Addai, who was having trouble moving his neck to the left. "He's a guy that you want on your team.

"He's going to do whatever. And he got a chance to get in there and get a couple of runs and showed what he can do.''

Addai appears day to day, but deferred speculation until Monday.

"That's kind of when you feel more the aches and pains," he said.

"Right now, I can manage it. Turning to the left is kind of sore. (Monday) I will have a better feel on how I'm feeling.''

The Colts had a light practice on Monday. Addai didn't practice but Donald Brown did. Again, this was more of a walkthrough than an actual practice so it may be too soon to tell on Addai's status for Sunday night. But Brown returning in any fashion is a positive sign that he might be ready to play against the Redskins.

Oh, the Colts play Sunday night? Yeesh. I was thinking about picking up Hart and rolling with him, but I'm not sure I want to pass on all the day games for someone who might not get the start.

(Rotoworld) Joseph Addai said he is just suffering from soreness in his right shoulder and neck after leaving Sunday's win over the Chiefs early. Analysis: Addai was slammed to the ground by Chiefs DE Glenn Dorsey. "Right now, I can manage it. Turning (his head) to the left is kind of sore," Addai said after the game. It sounds like Addai will be OK for Week 6, but note that the Colts have a bye in Week 7. Mike Hart performed well in relief of Addai on Sunday.

From Rotoworld:

Donald Brown (hamstring) returned to practice Monday.

For what it's worth, fellow running back Mike Hart said that "Donald will probably be back this week." We agree, and it sounds like Joseph Addai is likely to play, as well. Keep in mind, though, that the Colts have a Week 7 bye, so it's possible they could play it safe.

No practice reports yet from today. All I've seen so far is Brown saying he's optimistic about playing Sunday night. Nothing yet on Addai.

If I were you, I would try to roster all three (next to impossible, I know). You just never know what kind of tricks that the Colts (New England Midwest) might be up to with their injuries.
