Not sure where RTsports gets there news from but saw this on their site.

Nov 29 2006 9:15PM

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, and is questionable for Week 13.
look up 2 posts from yours. It's all on the official wednesday injury report.

Saw this on a Saints forum:

http://www.gadsdentimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...ctioncat=SPORTS

"...Obviously an ankle, with a receiver, is definitely a big deal," Colston said. "The thing is you definitely want to be back out there playing, but you want to be smart about it too, so we're not really jeopardizing the rest of the season. We're juggling with that. I'm just trying to gauge where I'm at. This is the first time I've been on it this week, running around. It was definitely a little stiff. I was just trying to work through some of the stiffness."

Colston said he probably would not know whether he would practice Thursday until shortly before the team takes the field.

Great "get"

I wouldn't risk Colston this week if I had other options - and if I had to make a decision tonight (as some others have to) I'd leave him on my bench. Unless your other option is simply horrendous, you are looking at anything from zero points to 20 points from Colston - I'd rather take the safe points if I had to make a decision today.

more often than not, it seems like i regret it if i start iffy players... more things can go wrong... they can underperform, aggravate injury & be gone after one play, one quarter, etc...

of course, if the option is troy williamson or colston, i'd takes my chances with colston, so it is relative to what your options are...

i wouldnt mind seeing colston sit this one out, make sure the injury doesnt linger the rest of the season. play or not im sitting him for coles and driver.

well, that seals it then. i'm leaving Henderson in and sitting Colston. (lineups have to be set by tonight)
I realize there is a Thursday night game - BUT - having to SET line-ups by Wednesday night!?!!!? That's insane!
:wall: tell me about it.we're on cbssportsline. other people in my league claim to be able to make substitutions right up until kickoff of the first game. i checked this morning just to make sure on Colston, maybe sub him in if he was ready to go but lineups are set. no changes can be made. that was at 7AM.

seemed strange to me that the guy would go from "he coulda played Sunday but we decided to not take any chances" to "Questionable" the following Wednesday after missing most of that day's practice.

my decision was based on the history of people with ankle injuries. at least in my experience it seems like guys who hurt ankles are going to be down for a couple weeks at least.

you get coachspeak.

"Marques looked fine in practice on Wednesday, we're going to take it easy with him but we expect him to be in the lineup on Sunday." (Doubtful)

"Marques' ankle was a little tender on Thursday so we decided to sit him in the 7 on 7 portion of practice but he wants to play on Sunday so we're going to do what we can to get him out there" (Questionable)

"We want to make sure Marques is ready for Sunday so we gave him Friday's practice off to rest that ankle." (Probable)

then comes the dread game-time announcement on Sunday that Colston tested the ankle before kickoff, wasn't able to make the necessary cuts, and they want to take every precaution with it so he won't play. (Out)

wash. rinse. repeat. for 2-3 weeks.

if Colston plays and i lose because i played Henderson.. so be it. but i'm going with my gut that he's either not going to play or he's going to be very limited.

:( we're moving off CBS next year. too many complaints from leaguemates. some have suggested Fanball as an option.

Sounds like your commish has his head up his ###. There's no way all CBS leagues have to set their lineup the night before the first game.

Definitely the Commish's decision. CBS allows you to set it up so that any player's status can be switched up until 5 minutes before the kick-off of that players game. I've substituted guys for the late games at 2:45pm on Sunday before. Hell, we can switch two guys that play on Monday night up until 5 minutes before that game. Great feature when you have an injured starter and his back-up and are trying to decide which to play based on last minute information. So its not CBS making you do it the crappy way your league is doing it.

Currently sitting Colston and starting Copper as my WR3 (my third option for WR3 is Reggie Brown), but I'll flip-flop if Colston's status improves during the week. From what I've seen thois year, I'd rather have Colston at 80% than most WR at 100%.

Anyone else think - given the success of the Saints offense in the last few weeks - that Colston may be a product of the system? Im a happy Colston owner, but I cant say that Im not worried about the Saints dominance on O without Closton in the game.

I see no reason why he would be rushed back into the game when the offense hasnt missed a beat without him. Hope Payton doesnt start limiting his number of plays in the next few weeks....

My $$ league has a "10:00pm the night before the game" deadline for designating starters. That's just the way it's always been.

Starting Henderson here as a 3rd WR in 16 team league

Oh... we're sportsline and we can edit up to 1hr before kickoff

WR Colston Favoring His Ankle, Questionable

Jimmy Smith, New Orleans Times-Picayune - [Full Article]

Rookie WR Marques Colston appeared to be favoring his sprained left ankle while running a few pass routes. He was not able to participate in the team portion of practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday. Colston was inactive against Atlanta. He practiced once last week, on Thursday.

MFL.I think you pay 140+ for CBS, right?Fanball = 65 (IIRC), MFL = 55 (IIRC) and both are TONS better.

My CBS league allows owners to change their lineups until first kickoff of the week - after that lineups are locked, but our league lets owners make lineup changes between Friday and kickoff Sunday (on weeks where there are Thursday games). They cant change it themselves -- they have to email me any lineup changes before kickoff Sunday and I make the changes before the games start.Just because the site restricts owners from making changes doesnt mean your commish cant make changes for you. Bust him up!

Good info in this thread...

I clicked in here to see how everyone's league sets up there rules for starting players using CBS Sportsline.

:goodposting: Utterly fantastic. You can't get setting-your-lineup-rules information like this anywhere else on the internet. Kudos to all of you.BTW, my league rule is that we have to set lineups for all 17 weeks prior to kickoff of week 1. Makes for some interesting lineups by this time of the year!

You missed this one guys - this thread is also a great place to get info on the cost of leagues for next year!!(of course it isn't correct, but that's ok)

Oh, I read it. Just trying to figure out where you're hiding the updates in your posts.

can we get back on topic PLEASE?!?!? Colston is an important piece to many peoples' teams.

no need for a childish "like, is your post on topic?" post because those are stupid, argumentative, and juvenile.

NOW, let me ask one MORE time....

Does... Anyone... Know... If... Marques... Colston........ The... New... Orleans... Wide... Receiver........ Practiced... Today??????????????????????????????

Colston is really tall.(Just trying to contribute something)

are all SP threads like this?

people melting down if it strays off a narrow path?

should we only post Colston updates from wire services? is it okay to talk about it and offer our opinions? or should we all just check in for the latest ***OFFICIAL*** update from Saints HQ and then move on?
