Any more news on Onterrio Smith? (1 Viewer)

Last I heard, Onterrio Smith was released by the CFL team he was playing on.

To my knowledge, he will be eligible to play in the NFL in October this season.

Any chance he has a comeback and can help out a team in need of a RB with good hands like ... the Vikings, the 49ers, the Texans, the Jets, the Broncos, etc ... ?

Being cut by a CFL team is such a ringing endorsement, I'm sure the morjority of NFL GMs are pissing themselves at the chance of picking him up.

The latest thing I could find is from Rotoworld, July 10. It looks like he's only eligible for reinstatement in October. And he's not getting much love from NFL teams. Shocking news isn't it?

What's Onterio Smith's next move?

While he's eligible for reinstatement in the NFL in October, Onterrio Smith is reportedly not receiving much interest around the league. After showing up 20 pounds overweight for training camp in the Canadian Football League, Smith's lack of desire has been questioned. The former fourth-round draft pick was cut by Minnesota in April, so he'll have to prove to another team he's still got what it takes.

Anything new? I'm looking at my last pick in a semi-dynasty league, and he's still available. Is there any reason to believe SOD will ever make a contribution in the NFL?

Has anybody seen or heard any new info on Onterrio Smith?

All reports were that he was going to be reinstated into the NFL in October......and well, it's now October.

There seems to be a number of teams at this point who could use a talented (albeit troubled) RB.

When will he actually be reinstated into the NFL?

Will a team take a shot on him when that time comes?

Although seeing similar type guys like William Green and Charles Rogers are still looking for work doesn't bode too well for "The Whiz".....but, then again, Koren Robinson got another shot so you never know.

He would have to APPLY for reinstatement. He's not just automatically reinstated. He totally lacks motivation, something the chronic does to you. Waste of tremendous talent.

Since I don't think there's much to be said here, I'm going to completely hijack the thread for unrelated points.... :)

I don't know... it usually makes me motivated for, like, White Castle and chicken wings. But maybe that's just me :)

I AM impressed at this, though:

12 team dynasty keeper league (13 players kept). Bonus pts awarded for long TDs. No PPR:

QB (start 1):Carson Palmer, Brad Johnson

RB (3): Ronnie Brown, Steven Jackson, Willis McGahee, Laurence Maroney, Chester Taylor, Michael Turner

WR (3): Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, Derrick Mason, Lee Evans, Mike Williams

TE (1): Ben Watson, Heath Miller, Vernon Davis

DEF (1): Bills, Colts

K (1): Robbie Gould

I have 4 first round picks in the 2007 college draft (players not already on a college roster).

College Roster (keep max of 3): Marshawn Lynch RB Cal (Jr), Darren McFadden RB Arkansas (So), Jonathan Stewart RB Oregon (So).
I need to find a dynasty league.

The CFL team he tried out for was the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. I live in Winnipeg and am a huge Bomber fan. I went to Bomber training camp and watched Onterrio Smith play. His talent was impressive, but he had a leg injury so couldn't work off the extra weight (it was more like 30-40 lbs, he was huge).

The confusing thing is why would he show up to camp overweight? If he really wanted to resurect his career, he would have showed up in top form - him being out of shape contributed to his leg injury...

Winnipeg has the best RB in the CFL, in Charles Roberts, so we could afford to cut Smith. Haven't heard from him since.

I met him at Bomber training camp, and he cam accross as a real loser - I asked for his autograph, and he refused...

This may be neither the time nor the place, but Charles Roberts couldn't sniff Kenton Keith's jockstrap.

Uhm..I said Charles Roberts, not Rogers. Might wanna re-read my post. Sounds like you really know your CFL  Charles Roberts is much better than Kenton Keith. Roberts will be the East rep for MVP/MOP, and very will coudl win the CFL MVP/MOP this season.
