Any other Jake Plummer victims? (1 Viewer)

Pwned

Just a fluke or harbinger of things to come?

I survived him and won one league and I still have a shot in another league but what a joke.

I think he helped sink me twice. Already cut him once for McNair. In the other leagues I have no good options (Pennington? Eeek) and just have to hope he comes around.

I own him in a league and managed to eek out a win riding on Tiki's shoulders.

I think Plummer is still a solid fantasy option. I'd be surprised if he keeps doing what he dis this week.

:hot:  :wall:

Benched Bledsoe for him in a keeper league. Had Lefty as my QB3. As a rule, I always submit my week 1 line-up based on the order they were drafted. Broke away from that philosophy based on the matchup.

I'm certainly not out of it, needing 11 from LT2 tonight, but needing only 2 would have been nicer.

For next week, I need to re-assess.

I was fortunate enough to have Tiki, Jeff Wilkins!!!!!!!!!, and Bush. Those three made hopefully made up for Jake. I have the Washington D tonight and need 2 pts. My other QB option was Cpepp so it wasn't going to get that much better for me at QB this week anyway.

If you like Plummer, there won't be a better week to pick him up. There were plenty of owners (me included) that thought he would slice and dice the Rams D. You might even see him on some waiver wires this week, so if you like him, take a flyer.

However...

The big problem with Plummer is that unlike last year he has a guy on the bench (Cutler) this year that's probably better than him. Shanny hasn't had any problems in swapping his RB's based on the hot hand, so Plummer's job security isn't as strong as it would be under another coach.

He might not have cost me a win this week. I still have LT going tonite. But he can't possibly get any worse....can he?? *knock on wood*

On Week 6, get ready for a new era in football.......

JAY CUTLER

Coming to a starting lineup near you.

I'm down by 35 pts but I got Lamont Jordan and Cooley going tonight in a PPR league so there is definitely hope.

I already offered someone Reggie Brown for Marc Bulger, he is starting Doug Gabriel so he might be desperate.

It was a freak performance from Plummer but he will obviously be a lot better than that. Walker's injury doesn't help if it causes him to miss any time. Lelie is already gone. Brandon Marshall could get the call earlier than we thought.

Plummer's numbers are normally restricted by the success of the Denver running game rather than his own poor play. He does fare better in home games though, averaging 19.0 points at home compared to 15.5 on the road.

He will be good value if someone has already dumped him in your league.

Things happen. Palmer had a bad game for the Bengals. It would be madness to throw Cutler in until he has backed up Plummer for at least a year. Shanahan won't make that mistake.

He got me with his -6. If he puts up 1 point then I can still win tonight but I am all but out of it. It didnt help that I sat J lewis for R Smith because I thought I would get double points every time Plummer threw to Smith (DOH)

The game was local to MSP yesterday so I got to watch it.

Plummer didn't look that good, but then neither did his offensive line. And the STL d-line isn't exactly populated with worldbeaters.

It's week 1. I'll reserve judgement for now. Few QBs that were supposed to look good actually looked good yesterday.

I benched him for Mike Vick! Stupid. It goes to show you that these pre game analysis means nothing. Vick is my #1 guy, but I got cute and benched him Vick. Dumb! I would be blowing my opponent out if not for SNAKE! Now it comes down to the 1015 game tonight. Man, that's a long time from now.....

yeah but I love that double header tonite!!!!

Plummer will be fine... I hope.

The guy flat killed me this week, yes. I still have a chance in the game however. If R.Moss, Cooley, Jano and the Wash D can put up about 25 more points than Williamson... I still pull off the W.

:crossingfingers:

I am praying that was a fluke weekend and that things turn around in a hurry.

As one poster said above... I started him in 3 leagues, and well I am not 0-3 across those leagues.

I'm guessing the guy rejected your offer?

I'm going to give Plummer a pass on this one. I hope it is just a temporary 'relapse' to the old Plummer, not a permanent one.

Now, if he is horrible again next week....

Exact same here

Don't jump ship on Plummer and the Broncos, remember last year's season openner, on the road in Miami, Jaked looked terrible, and Denver lost, well the new coach of Rams, was OC, of Miami, think he got last years df scheme fom his friend the Miami DC. Looked a whole lot like that game last year. Give it another week, if results are the same, then start to worry.

I'm almost certain to lose this week and Plummer will be the reason. It didn't help that I had Rod Smith starting too. Plummer's bad week cost me at 2 positions. What's really sad is my other option at QB is Favre!!!

I'm clinging to a 5 point lead, but my opponent has Lamont Jordan. I'm not very optimistc about my chances...

Subjective opinion: Denver was able to run the ball effectively yesterday. As long as that's true, Plummer will have value because of Denver's play action passing gameplan.

Stats-based opinion: Plummer traditionally has gad a bad first week but has bounced back for solid seasons.

2005

Week 1: 1 TD, 2 INT

Rest of year: 17 TD, 5 INT

2004

Week 1: 2 TD, 2 INT

Rest of year: 25 TD, 18 INT

2003

Week 1: 0 TD, 3 INT

Rest of year: 15 TD, 4 INT

Totals for three years in Denver

Week 1: 3 TD, 7 INT

Rest of year: 57 TD, 27 INT

Brutal game. I hope Brunell looks good tonight because he's going to be my week 2 starter (unless he puts up a plummer-esque game).

I sure don't want to be driving in or around the Denver area, especially anywhere near Jake's house, this week.

I owned Plummer between 1999 and 2005. If i learned one thing: here is the deal --- play him at HOME and not on the road, unless at OAK. Sit him every other game unless its against the league's worst defense, say the Titans.

Possibly. scored me -6 pts but I have 3 guys playing tonight (LT2, C Taylor, WAS D) that need to score about 35pts.

One league I started him in has -2 for INTs and -2 for Fumbles. He had -1.1 this week. I have a 28 point lead on a guy who has Jordan and SMoss tonight. Gonna be close. :hot:

Same here, it's going to cost me at least one game, probably two (same set up in two leagues).

kal-el got it right. I have been a Plummer owner for a few years, and traded him in the offseason for McNabb (to an owner who wanted to open up cap space), and I know that EVERY year Plummer starts off cold. It's usually his 3rd or 4th game that he starts to heat up. I don't know about the home/away splits as mentioned by gregjcross, but I can tell you that Plummer is a slow starter.

If you want a quality backup, or if you need to upgrade to a #8-10 range QB, trade for Plummer now because with KC up next week at home in Denver, you can be he'll put up better numbers.

got me negative points, but Im not as worried, as you guys stated he started slow the past couple seasons and will fare much better at home, although i am stubborn with my QBs, it will take another terrible game to really have me come down on plummer his offense has too many weapons especially with the run game that will set his pass up

3 of 4 leagues he set me back, but none are out of reach

gave me negative points in 2 leagues, and 1.36 points in the 3rd.

:wall:

I have either CT or LT2 along with Gates in those leagues tonight so hopefully i can score what i need to get passed a miserable week 1 in the QB department.

Luckily my opponant in each of the 3 leagues also had an off QB day.

2 had hasselbeck and 1 had palmer who had underwhelming days lucky for me...

Talking to my buds here, I said this exact thing. Denver is notorious for just not being ready to play week 1, especially on the road. The addition of Linehan knowing how that game down in Miami went...really thought the Rams would keep this one close and have a shot. Even a blind squirrel like me finds a nut once in awhile.I'm not that worried about Plummer or Denver, but enough to drop a WR5 for Cutler. Shanny's a little nuts, and I really wouldn't put it past him to throw Cutler out there if he really thinks he can get the job done. Cecil, SSOG, any thoughts on the likelyhood of this happening if Plummer has another horrible week?

Denver is notorious for not being ready to play in week 1? Funny, here I thought that Mike Shanahan's 10-3 record on week 1 coming into this season was best in the NFL. And here I also thought that Mike Shanahan's record in September was also the best in the NFL. Weird. As far as Plummer goes, he had a really bad game, but let's not put all the blame on him. His O-Line was getting him killed out there, and his targets had tons of drops. Javon Walker had at least 3 (including one that was a sure TD), reliable Rod had a drop or two, and Scheffler had a ball that hit him in the helmet. One of Plummer's INTs was a pass that went right through his receiver's hands, too (Brian Clark, iirc). Give Plummer those completions and he actually had a reasonably solid day- probably 300 yards and a TD, although still 2 INTs.As for Cutler... I seriously doubt he sees any PT this season unless it's a Denver blowout, or unless Denver's eliminated from the playoffs.

Hey SSOG do you know why O line play was so bad?? I didn't get to watch the game. I did hear that there were quite a few drops though...thanks for the homer info

Got a -3 for me, but BAL's D carried me so I'm taking a wait-and-see approach for at least the next two weeks. Week 5 is looking like a must-sit for Plummer vs. BAL though.

:goodposting: My thoughts exactly. He was part of my qbbc last year and only started @ milehigh.
