Any way to IP check a post on a league message board? (1 Viewer)

I'll try to make a long story as short as possible. A trade occurred yesterday in the Yahoo IDP league in which I'm. commissioner - Steve Smith (CAR) for Kellen Winslow and Lance Briggs. As a commissioner I realize it's not my job to maintain competitive balance but I do want to prevent collusion. These two owners are cousins and have been suspected (but not proven) of shady dealings with one another in the past.

These two owners live in very different cities. One is local (Indianapolis), the other lives in Seattle. Is there any way I can IP check league message board posts to see if they're originating from the correct area? I realize this doesn't prove/disprove collusion but it would provide me some reassurance that they aren't sharing passwords and are at least managing their own teams.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

First, usually collusion is one team making a lopsided trade once they are out of it or renting a player and agreeing to tade them back later. It's week 1 so doubtful any team is out of it, the trade isn't lopsided and doubtful they are doing a rent a player in a non bye week unless it's an injury situation. Second what would the IP address prove ? Unless you think one guy went in and made a trade without the other teams approval, but then wouldn't the other team complain ? If they agree on a trade but Team A is at home in Indy but Team B is at work in Seattle with no access to the website and he tells Team A just go in and approve it over the phone, your my cousin I'll give you the password, who cares ? Not sure what the collusion is you are thinking took place.

As far as the IP goes, no, not unless you operate the message board/league site. Since it is yahoo you cannot gather that information.

As far as collusion goes the post above pretty much sums it up.

Two owners start a season agreeing to stack one team and split the winnings between them. That's collusion in my mind.

Exactly. That's what I'm trying to prevent here. There have been suspicions about these particular owners in the past, but usually the trades have been later in the season and more subtle as far as value discrepancy goes - nothing too egregious. I'm having a difficult time determining if they're just being sloppy and starting early this year or if the owners truly believe they're each improving their teams. If you drafted Steve Smith in the sixth round, why would you trade him for a TE that didn't go until the 9th (and a throw in LB) immediately after he blows up? It seems the opposite of "selling high."

Maybe he was deep at WR and needed a TE; and he gets a pretty good LB to boot. A lot of folks on this board think pretty highly of Winslow. There is a whole threade argueing that he might outperform Finley. I personally don't subscribe to that opinion but its out there. Briggs is an excellent LB. Not sure what you are so upset about.
