Anybody else think that Griese could be a good start this week? (1 Viewer)

My QB1.....Peyton......is on a bye.

Don't laugh, but I'm seriously considering starting Griese at home verse the Vikings. The Vikes give up almost 270 yards a game passing because they are so tough against the run. So, I figure that Griese may be asked to huck it around a bit this weekend (hopefully to guys wearing the same colored jersey's as his own).

Thoughts?

I tend to agree. I can see him finishing in the top 15-20 range for week 6.

Another guy look at would be Frerrotte. I know he faces BALT, but the same thing here too. BALT stops the run, but are only average against the pass.

So, depending on how our waivers run a few hours, I can end up with either

Warner

Griese

Frerrotte

In that order...

The way Benson is playing, Vikes could probably run a nickel package all day and still shut him down.

He has quietly been putting up good numbers. CHI has some serious running game issues. His number of attempts is much higher than Lovie would like, and he's adding a couple TDs each week. He has averaged around 22 ppg (standard scoring) since becoming the starter - very solid. Against MIN's run defense, I'd expect more of the same, and am also seriously considering starting him over Vince (@ TB) and Joey (NYG) with my QB1 on a BYE.

Thanks for the input. With Manning on a bye I'll be starting Griese over Huard (home verse the BUNGLES DEFENSE....or lack there of).

100% correct. No running game. No Berrian (not that it matters because Griese does not go down the field with the ball anyway). Bears have nothling but a very average Desmond Clark and very old and slow Muhammad as the only options for Griese to target. 10 of 27 for 102 yards 0 TD 3 Int as Bears are held to 3 points.
