Anybody know how to "cheat" the timeclock on CBSSportsline? (1 Viewer)

I hate the way this league does it, but oh well. Everyone puts in for a player and it's first come, first serve. It opens at 6:00 pm. If your time-stamp is 5:59 you have to resubmit. This guy ALWAYS gets his picks first eventhough I will have the exact same 6:00 time-stamp. That means he's still beating me to the punch. Odds are he'd lose once in awhile aren't they. Anyways, I'm just venting because I really wanted my add this week.

EDIT:

I'm not looking to cheat. Just hoping this other guy is not!!

Just drop a couple guys before the deadline. Then observe the timestamps of your drop and compare it against your PC system clock using minutes and seconds. Now you know when you can add a player based on your PC clock. Allow a couple seconds for the submission process and you should be able to beat the other guy and get as close to 6pm as possible.

have the player you want open and at the start of add drop immediately hit pick up player.. dont wait untul 6 to open up the player pages

Believe me. I've worked every angle. I had it down pat. I was getting my submissions in at EXACTLY 6:00, he just gets them in right before me everytime :missing:

Did that. Experimented with the computer clock too. For example, if i hit OK at 6:00:02 it stamped it 5:59, but if I hit OK at 6:00:03 it time-stamped it 6:00. I was just joking about a guy cheating. It just get's frustrating when he keeps stealing your guys!

make sure you pc clock matches time.goviof that doesnt work, dont know what to say except your opponent has proven he is better than you

lol guess so :goodposting:

Open 3 to 4 browser windows each with the add/drop page setup with the player you want to add and drop. Resize the windows so you can see them all on one screen. When the clock hits 6:00:01 click the "Submit" button on each page as fast as you can.

The Sportsline process may also run faster if you drop someone and create a blank roster slot for yourself before hand. Then it only has to insert a new player into your roster, not delete a player and insert a new one.

You know, I did open the browser 3 times, but for 3 different players. Great idea to do it all for the same guy! Bet you that's what he does! Thanks!

If you can handle doing more windows, do that too and start a second sooner. You should be able to bombard Sportsline with requests and with luck as you submit each entry one will slip in as the first slot when the wire opens.Definitely ditch a player too. It can only make things faster.

So, the SAME guy is getting the SAME players that you wanted, at the SAME time every week?

You don't find that to be a tad coincidental? :sadbanana:

That does suck. What is with Skanker, is he having mother issues? He probably has a faster connection than you. Guess the only thing I would do was what was suggested, open multiple windows and try jumping the gun slightly.

How about giving him a call around 5:56 and trying to distract him with some meaningless conversation while sitting at your keyboard with the mouse on the drop/add button.

You might also try ordering some pizzas to his address to arrive at the said time above. I'm guessing it would take him at least 6 to 7 minutes to convince the delivery guy they're not his and he's not paying for them.

The two of you must have some sucky lineups to be bidding on the same FA turds week in and week out. Here's some advice, do some research well ahead of time and you won't have this problem. Are you one of those 'what have you done for me lately' guys who picks up the flavor of the week and drops him the following week (Broussard)?

set up the waiver process so that all waives need to be approved by the commish, that way they don't go in right away..and it might deter him from cheating if he thinks someone is watching him...then you can see the timestamps..also, set it up using your w/l record..or use an auction style..it might just be the dude has his pc sycronized with the time on cbs, whereas you don't..you might *think* its 5:59:59pm, but its actually 6:00:00pm..mention it to your commish...make a rule that you can only do 1 waiver per week,or something like that..

Well aren't we Mr. Funny? No, I'm actually a great drafter (in my own mind). I was taking a flyer on the Colts because I was putting someone on the IR, not dropping anyone. But thanks for your input!

Not saying this is the reason.... but it's possible he has a faster PC and ISP host over you.The transmit time is faster for him then even if you both send at 6 he gets the edge.

He is probably taping you via webcam somehow. Maybe you should report him to league officials and try to get him suspended.

Hang on... last I know of... code on the WWW/brwoser-based... can NOT pull the users clock time. There are two system clocks.... one is deep within the BIOS, changable on boot up and HIGHLY unadvisable... the other is through the operating system. Neither can be plucked from code.... I'm 99% sure of this.your opponent may have the pickup queued up in multiple browser windows.... say 10 or more. used to do this in the old days of ticketmaster.com.and he is just cycling through each one at around 5:59 and 40 seconds.and whereas someone here mentioned his clock might be inline with CBS's... you can test it out somewhere.... see where your clock is exactly.. if there is a time you are making meaningless pickups...

This is good advice. We set waiver priority by win-loss record, if you have the same record then it defaults to the team with the fewest total points. However if two or more teams try to add the same player the team with the worst record/fewest points gets that player however his team then moves to the bottom of the waiver priority list for the rest of the week. If it is an uncontested waiver move the team retains his priority in the waiver line.

Could you be more specific about which tool you are referring to? It's a tight race in my book.
