Anybody taking a chance on Michael Crabtree? (1 Viewer)

Anybody out there taking a chance on Michael Crabtree this week? I have noticed him on a couple of my leagues waiver wires this week.

He may be a semi bust in real life at this point, but he put up decent WR 3 last year and with Braylon Edwards out Crabtree could re-establish himself and put up similar numbers to last season.

Or is the guy just destined to be a bust?

Like his talent but he's got major foot issues. In dynasty I'd try and buy cheap and hope for the best, in redraft I probably wouldn't bother unless you have deep rosters.

I took a chance on him as my last roster spot, but I'm sure your right. The guy has a ton of potential, but is getting ready to cross the line and offically be a bust. I wonder if he landed on a team with an NFL caliber qb and coach what he would be like? That said I think he is worth a spot on the roster given his immense talent. Who knows, maybe he is ready to blow up?

Someone's taking a chance on him in my 20 team league. I don't think he's picked up in any of my 12 teamers. I don't have anyone on my roster to drop for him. In fact, I'd rather use a roster spot on another defense to play matchups with than pick up Crabtree.

Being a 49er fan I say that Crabtree has never had good chemistry with Smith, has missed the last 3 preseasons, and is still recovering from a foot injury. Stay away like he's Asomugha

Aside from the injury possibly hampering him, there's no reason he can't put up WR3/4 numbers - making him a viable flex option. We just need to see him healthy for a couple weeks before rolling the dice on him. With Edwards possibly out for awhile, he has lots of opportunity regardless of the QB situation.

I like Crabtree as a number 3/4 with some upside. He hasn't come close to living up to the hype, but his numbers last year while not spectacular were solid for a number 3 WR. It will likely take him a couple of weeks to get into a groove.

I thought about for 2 seconds and declined

maybe if SF had a QB. I wont be looking for S Rice this year either unless TJax suddenly become competent

The injury thing is huge. He's not full speed yet and really hasn't even practiced at all with Harbaugh yet.

Crabtree didn't look half bad today coming off his injury. He would have had a nice little day for himself if his td wasn't called back. He showed enough today to add as a flyer in hopes that he will physically get better and get on the same page as Smith...For all the talk of Crabtree being a bust he did put up pretty solid WR 3 numbers last year. If he can stay healthy I could see him putting up similar numbers to last season. That said unless the 49ers upgrade at qb Crabtree will never live up to the hype.

I'd grab him if he is still on your ww as long as your expectations are realistic.

He's only been a bust relative to expectations.

His first two seasons in the league...

2009 - 48 catches, 625 yards

2010 - 55 catches, 741 yards

Not bad really. I don't think he'll ever be a superstar, but rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. Unless the foot thing proves to be a permanent issue ala Malcolm Kelly, I think Crabtree has some good football left in him.

The thing about Crabtree is people expected him to be the next Randy Moss. As long as Alex Smith is his qb he will never live up to that, but if he played the entire season I don't know why 850 yards and 7 td's is out if the question...He had 741 and 6 td's last year...If you put this guy on a team with a real NFL qb he would put up solid numbers.

Yea, that's kind of how I see it.

I think he's a Cotchery/Ward type. If healthy and playing with a competent coaching staff/supporting cast, he can get 70 catches and 1000 yards.

Thing is, he hasn't been healthy and his supporting cast/coaching staff haven't been competent.

Going forward I think Crabrtree puts numbers up like he did last season. Not spectacular, but he can be started. I'd agree that he is a number 3 wr if healthy, but that is a big if with this guy.

Crabtree looked pretty good this week vs a tough secondary and would have had a td last week if it wasn't for a mistake by the refs. Maybe Crabtree will be a viable option this year?
