Anyone else disappointed with Netflix? (1 Viewer)

I don't know why people are so anti-disc now... if there's a movie you want to see, just put it in your queue and it shows up in a day or two. If you have that much time on your hands that you need to watch a new movie/tv show every single night, then maybe you need to find more things to do in your life.
It's not necessarily about having something every night so much as it is that, when you find yourself in the mood for a certain type of movie/show like a comedy, you probably didn't know you'd be in that mood two days ago when you had a documentary about building dams in Patagonia sent to you.
How are you getting the movie that you want to watch right now?

:lmao:

in reference to "new" movies, how long does it take a movie that's in the theater right now to get to Netflix? And then, is it only for DVD by mail, or also for streaming? Was thinking about subscribing, but then seeing some complaints, so wanted to clarify.

Also, does Netflix still have a better selection that Amazon Prime's library?

If you are wanting 'New Release' titles, streaming is not the way to go. Very few that come out on Blu-Ray/DVD go straight to streaming.

Netflix and Amazon will both have things that the other doesn't, but I find things that used to be Amazon only showing up in Netflix. Oh and the Netflix interface >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Amazon. Hulu is god awful. You mean I pay the same as Netflix AND I have to watch commercials? No thanks.

because its a pain in the ### compared to just having it magically be there to stream. There's no need for snail mailing of discs anymore. It should be obsolete.

It has nothing to do with how much time is on your hands. On the contrary for someone who is busy and either doesn't have the time to set up a queue, having it all available to stream is much more convenient.

I don't need brand new releases, but if I can get movies that came out in the last 2 or 3 years, that's new enough for me

My usual order of looking for a movie goes Dvd collection -> Netflix Streaming -> Demonoid.

Even then, you might find it disappointing.

I could be off because I don't watch a ton of movies, but it feels like less than a quarter of the movies released in theaters end up streaming on Netflix within 3 years.

Now, that could be because Netflix doesn't recommend them to me, so I don't notice, but that's what it seems like.

Netflix is your spot for TV shows, older movies, indie movies, and documentaries (and I totally love if for those things and think it's a steal at $8), but as a primary source for recent major movies, I bet you'd find it disappointing.

I will echo many of the sentiments here. For "new movies", don't bother. For tv shows and documentaries, along with a small size of semi newer movies to "B" movies, to some classics and kids shows/movies, it can't be beat for $8/month. You spend more than that for one lunch.

this is very true. however, for Roku owners, they have it set up that you can search across all of their channels and choose based on that. i don't really use it myself but if you have a Roku it helps make Amazon Prime a little bit easier to work with.

Had Netflix for 3 or 4 months....used it to watch Breaking Bad and Arrested Development and then cancelled it.. I dont think I ever watched a single movie, mainly because the movie selection was horrible.

Now I just download whatever I wanna watch.

thanks for the input, fellas

after a little more research, looks like Netflix has the best selection out of all the online streaming services

I suppose it would be just as easy for newer movies to just rent a disk at the Redbox kiosk for $2
