Anyone else having a miserable time.... (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
[i know you don't care about my roster. Just want to get a discussion going.]

I laugh to keep from crying. Look at this SLOP I'm going to battle with at WR every week.

R. Moss (the only reliable WR on my roster)

Pierre Garcon ... inactive

Lee Evans ... 6 rec. yards, 0 TD

Steve Smith (CAR) ... 11 rec. yards, 0 TD

Demaryius Thomas ... 9 rec. yards, 0 TD

Darrius Heyward-Bey ... 2 rec. yards, 0 TD

If I was allowed to start ALL FIVE of my "#2 WRs" this week, it would amount to 28 yards and no TDs.

:) :lmao: :lmao:

Anyone here in the same boat? It's a disappointing year so far for WRs.... right?

Yeah but my RB situation is much worse so in my league since I am allowed to do 1rb and 4wr so I do that. My league gives minimal yardage bonuses only get pts for td and receptions. Trying to find 4 consistent starters in this group = impossible

Clayton, Harvin, Jacoby Jones, Sims-Walker, Smith (NYG), Golden Tate

Due to injuries and byes I just started Santana Moss and Nanee for a combined 1 point, so yeah. I'm with you.

i used to until i realized that it is way easier to find startable RBs than WRs and started picking WR's in the first 3 rounds of the draft. Lets keep it between us though because it has been highly successful for me

Same.
Several years back when Randy Moss and Harrison were clearly the two best WRs in football, I took them at the turn at 12 & 13. I proceeded to have my worst fantasy season ever. Went something like 2-11. Small sample size upon which to judge the stud WR/stud WR theory, granted, but it just left a sour taste in my mouth and I never tried it again.

you have to get a little bit lucky and then spend a ton of time scouring the waiver guys. i usualy draft 7 rb's on my 15-team roster and have cycled through like 20 guys by the end of the year lol. this year i got best and mccoy so things are looking very good

Same here. Followed the predraft advice here about taking WR's early due to the depth at RB, and ended up with Roddy, Megatron and Nicks. It's been nice not having to worry about it, for the very reasons the OP mentioned (that killed me last year). It's been nice, until week 7 or 8 when byes will absolutely kill me.

Ive been throwing this slop out there all year:

Bowe, Crabtree, Bryant. Thought I had my answer with Maclin & Murphy until this week. Back to the drawing board. Thank God for Calvin & Gates

There are a couple of problems besides that passing games are often hit or miss:

1) Many of the teams with good QBs and well designed passing games have 3 or 4 viable targets (see NO for example) versus a clear stud who the QB always looks for.

2) Way too many teams which have awful QB issues (see Arizona) that are destroying really good options and even not allowing the boring every week 4 catch 60 yard .5 td guys to even be around.

PPR I have:

Calvin Johnson

Hines Ward

Mike Sim-walker

Johnny Knox

Lance Moore (just added this week for Mike X Williams)

So yes, I can relate and it's killing me, especially this week since I benches Ward and Moore!

i went calvin and Fitz at 1:11 / 2:2 to make sure I had PPR studs. Can't belive I am 3-1 with the most points in the league. Imagine if they were doing what they should be ?

I drafted A.Miles, Calvin Johnson, and Ocho within the first 5 rounds....and still I am getting some horrible efforts....I have decided to not worry about matchups and to just throw Austin/Calvin out there every week until my team is done or they are hurt....thank god for Foster.

In the 1 league I had the 11/14 wraparound picks and went Moss and Austin. Looks like Im going to be 2-2 after this week after starting 2-0, mostly because my RBs are terrible and Im suffering what you are with your WR's.

After doing that, I'll never go WR/WR in the first 2 rounds, but grabbing 2 WRs in the 1st 3 picks (assuming a Jennings type guy is there in the 3rd) is what I'll be going with the next few years unless there are less RBBCs.

Yes - I have struggled tremendously with my WRs this year:

Week 1: Started TO and Knox. Nicks is on my bench and goes off for 3 TDs

Week 2: Started Nicks and Nanee. Knox and TO both outplayed Nanee.

Week 3: Started Nicks and Knox. Did okay that week.

Week 4: Started Nicks and Knox. TO blows up this week.

So in the two weeks so far where I have had a WR put up huge numbers in a game they have both been on my bench.

I thought I had a strong wr corps with Smith-CAR, Colston, and SMoss. They combined for 4 points this week. Smith and Colston combined for like 4 points last week.

The guys who spent some early picks on WR's are fine. The guys who spent early picks on QB/RB and tried to pick up WR's late and did not land Austin Collie are hurting a bit. But they should be.

You gambled on your WR's and you crapped out. Man up and move on.

Its still early.

Believe it or not I'm 4-0 even with that garbage at WR. (Thank you ADP/McFadden/Hillis)...But that won't continue unless I improve the situation with that group. Gonna have to move a RB.

There's only 3-4 guys who can be called consistently good. I own Brandon Marshall, and I can't complain so far. The other slot is a crapshoot. I've got Ochocinco, can't stand him, but every week he's ranked higher than all the guys on my bench, so I start him and then regret it.

yeah when there's injuries/byes... Santana Moss and Louis Murphy combined for 1 pt too... I also start Roddy and Andre, and RB in my flex. due to bye i started a WR in flex this week, not good...

I've made like 17 moves already... lol...

Roddy White has been Mr. Consistency for me, but everyone else seems to be dropping a clunker or two (relatively speaking).

Drafting a stud WR in the first two rounds is important for this reason. Teams that waited until after the third round are running trash out there every week. If you went WR/WR and ended up with Arian Foster, you are in pretty good shape.

WRs have always been largely inconsistent - what seems to be different this year is something of a changing of the guard. Guys like AJ, Wayne, Marshall are still there, but some of the other consistent guys (e.g., Fitzgerald, Smith, Colston) have become anything but due to circumstances beyond their control.
