Anyone ever owned an Infiniti? (1 Viewer)

Had to go car shopping over the weekend since mine was totaled by some idiot in front of my house at 3 in the morning last week. I had a Honda Accord that I racked 130k+ miles on so no complaints. Went to go look at some slightly used Accords but the prices across the board for a used 2008/2009 Accord with not a lot of bells and whistles was about 20k...you can play with the numbers and I found some willing to deal more than others but you pay close to $20k...a new one borders on 25-30K, I was a little surprised since I haven't bought a car in 10 years.

Test drove a lot of cars and then my wife and I went to an Infiniti lot as I had heard some good things about the used G35 market. We test drove a G35 sedan and we loved it. Great pick up, lot of bells and whistles, standard V6, moonroof, lot of fun to drive. The '05-'06 types that I felt would be somewhat in our price range were still running about $20k, did land on an internet special which seems like a really good deal...$16k for an '06 with 35k miles. Most of the cars in that age range that I saw on Autotrader all have north of 60k-80k miles and have asking prices over $20k so I feel like I have a good deal in play.

Curious if any of you all have ever owned one and if you liked them or had problems

Ever since price of gas went up, Honda's $$ went up (demand).Whatever you do, tell them SHOW ME THE CARFAX.

I have an 05 Infiniti bought it from a single owner in 07 with 17K miles on it. I currently have 145,000 miles on it and knock on wood have had no major issues with it. The only thing is due to the Florida Heat I can only seem to get about 20K miles on set of tires. That is my only gripe. My only recommendation is for routine maintenance find yourself a good mechanic or go to the Nissan Dealer because Infiniti service rates are ridiculous. I will also buy another Infiniti when the time comes possibly the M line.

I have been driving a G Coupe (an '08 6MT and now an '09 37s) for a few years and absolutely love the car. I did have some mechanical issues with the 6MT, which seem to be an aberration as the car gets very high marks for maintenance.

Very much recommend the brand - one of the best blends of performance and price out there. My next car may need to be a 4 door, so I'd very much consider the sedan and know people who love their g Sedans.

Thanks, good info. Seems like they can log 100k miles pretty easy.

Have had several freinds who have had the G35/G37 models and they universally loved them. Great performance, very good styling, very good reliability.

Check it at Edmunds.com, outstanding condition has dealer retail at $15,682 for an '06 w/ 35k miles.

08 g37s coupe here. Fantastic car.

Agree with above about dealership service rates. If you're not buying it with any warrant, do not go to the Inf. dealer for any work.

While on the topic of cars...some dealers do not get it. We went to one of the biggest Honda dealers in all of South Florida and it was a nightmare. No sale prices on the cars, salespeople had no idea what inventory they actually had and we got more done in a shorter period of time at another guy's store but he was part of Auto Nation so the prices were a lot easier to read and digest.

The best car salesmen we encountered said very little other than "These are the best 2-3 cars I have based on price, miles, etc..." I really appreciated the no nonsense approach and cut out all the small talk until we figure out if we actually have a car to discuss. The fellow I had last night at Infiniti was actually a tandem of two guys, both older, one from Pakistan and the other from Haiti.

What is up with the dealer fee tack on in Florida? They all do it and they all say it is completely legal and if they didn't charge it they would have to refund everybody's fee that they have ever charged...I said it's gonna be a long night for your accountants then. Even with the good deal I had to beat them up on the price just to swallow the dealer fee, I thought that was silly but every dealer we went to adds this on to the price...it's not a joke apparently and I wasn't laughing.

The first I30t that I had had nearly 200k on it and I should have just replaced the tranny on it and drove it another 100k.The current I35 has about 140k and still runs like a champ.

Good info. I went to AutoTrader and you can't find an '06 Infiniti G35 Sedan with 35k miles on it, but if you can swallow 70k-90k in miles they have a couple of those in the $14-15k range but I would rather have the car for $16k with 35k miles on it. Edmunds is really low I find, Kelly Blue Book a little too high...KBB retail for my car is $20k.

Did I mention that Infiniti offers a lot of options on its cars?

G35/37s are great cars. sold mine last July, but had it for 8 years with no major issues. it did go thru tires quickly, but that was my only gripe.

I have an 2002 I35 with 180K miles and it runs like a champ. Does eat tires and brakes fairly quickly and has had some minor works done, but I plan on driving it for as long as I can. (I have no car payment and am being cheap :bag: )

FWIW, I got this car in 2003, used from a dealership as a loaner car they were taking out of circulation. For getting a car with less than 20k miles on it, I saved significant $ and there a bunch of bells and whistles on it, I probably would not have paid for, but are well worth it.

G'luck

I've owned an Infiniti once. Pulled up next to it in my Lexus :own3d:
A shame Lexus won't build a car with a manual transmission for those of us that actually enjoy being more involved in the driving rather than just a fluffpiece with nice HP. A 6 speed lexus could be quite fun - but their market seems to be more like my luxury and "softness" over more involved driving father (pushing 75) and the guido's that get a used piece, rim it up and drive around all cool like.

'04 Infiniti G35. Good car. Took it to 130 mph on I5 once and it had more room to go, but wife got nervous. Near 100k and I've been pretty rough on it. I can attest that the tires go quickly and cost a lot, but otherwise, no problems. Lots of city driving, commuting, etc. in the San Francisco area. I got it for a few reasons, but partially because I actually found the salesman tolerable. Not sure if still true, but I got the four door model of the G35, which had a surprising amount of leg room in the back seats that reclined. Since I picked up a lot of clients and colleagues from the airport, it was actually great for business as they would just put the seat back and take a nap while I played chauffeur. Clients loved it, so it was very good to me during my days in sales.

My wife has an '07 G35x. Bought it new, about 50K miles on it now. Only needed to replace the brakes/tires so far.

I had an M35 for three years and now have an M37. I love them both. The G's are very nice too.

I'm going to have trouble ever getting a different car.

It isn't the 80's anymore. Most vehicles are fully functional with regular maintenance up to 200k miles these days.

I haven't bought a car in 10 years either

Let me tell you the number one reason I will never buy a Lexus:

Their commericals in December make me want to kill homeless kittens.

Nice cars, but there's not a chance in hell I ever buy one. Infiniti doesn't pollute our football games the way Lexus does.

Here's my thoughts:

Mercedes - Old dude car

BMW - Snooty guy trying to act rich car

Lexus - Chick car

Infiniti - Perfect car for a dude with a little dough. Not too showy but very nice.

:blackdot: I'm also currently looking at a g25x or 37x as a alternative to a BMW 3 series.
BMW is a better car.
At what cost? In what way? A Bentley is a better car too, but at a far higher price.Infiniti has really closed the gap regarding the G Series v. 3 Series, price exclusive. While some have gone as far to say that there is no gap, I'd tend to give the BMW a slight nod there. That said, you will pay a good 10k or so more (if not greater) for a comparable 3 Series, which lets be honest, has gotten stale regarding its aesthetics over the last decade or so.For the longest time, I wanted a 3 series. I didn't even consider it this last go around... unless I am taking an M3, just don't see the value in going with the BMW vs. the Infiniti. Would still love an M5, but that's another story.

I actually have a G35 S rear wheel drive auto with sunroof for sale. Black. I am in Troy MI. Comes with extra wheels and tires. Let's talk.

I'll pm the above.

Not into Lexus. Used to work for Toyota and I always see Lexus as just a nice Toyota. Doesn't do it for me. Recently switched from BMW to Audi and I like both equally. BMW more of a drivers car as far as handling and connection to the road but Audi beats it in everything else IMO.

One of my best friends has a G35, and my boss has a G37. They both love them and haven't had any issues for several years.

I'd be interested in some elaboration here as well. I was pretty close to driving off the lot in a BMW a couple of weeks ago when I started looking - just love the way the BMW drives. But since then, I have seen a ton of glowing G37 reviews and I really can't identify a material difference between those and the BMW 3 reviews, plus I think I like the Infiniti styling a little better and Infiniti grades out better in reliability scores. That said, I haven't actually test driven any of the G series cars yet, so maybe there is something distinguishable in the driving experience that is tough to capture on paper.

I've owned a 535 and a G35, but this was several years ago. A significant cost difference for certain, but driving the BMW was on another level of a driving experience. Best car I have ever driven. The G35 is nice and I really liked the interior of the car much better, but it did not compare on feel.

The 5 Series is another level. It's also anywhere from 15-30k more (at least) equally equipped than the G series. My realistic dream car remains the M5.The 3 series is more on par with the Infiniti G. I'd concur the BMW is still a better driving car, but also more expensive... And I'd go so far as to say depending upon personal taste and needs some may prefer the G outright. A key note: The G37 has MUCH better trim options and interior than its predecessor the G35.

I owned a 2008 G37S down here (Fort Lauderdale; Plantation specifically) until about 8 months ago. Didn't modify the car in any way, not even tint.

I had the stock wheels stolen TWICE in two separate complexes. License plate stolen once. Neither complex was considered "unsafe."

Other than that, I loved the car.

You're talking about 2 completely separate classes of cars. Of course it won't compare on feel.compare the 535 with the M56.

Have an 09 G37X and absolutely love it. I test drove everything before buying it and couldn't find anything better for the price. You cannot compare a G37 with a 328 bmw because the discrepancy in hp is huge. You have to step up to the 335 to get the same level of performance and that jacks the price through the roof. The bmw dealer I was working with kept going on about how infiniti was junk and not worth driving. I was shocked to learn that 3 series dont come with Leather as standard equipment and that awd was an extremely expensive option. Trunk lid is tight for big packages and getting in and out of the back seat isnt ideal, but still a great package for the price.

Agree with above..own a M35, love everything about it, and I like the G series as well...I just like a bigger car as I'm a bigger (read fat) guy.

Mr Thrifty? I see what you do with all that money you save.
Of course, I used the Nissan VPP program ($150 under invoice) to get the "no hassle" lowest price....then still played two local dealers against each other since the price was "fixed." MSRP was $34,000, VPP was $31,000, got it for under $30,000 plus tags (no tax in DE.)
