anyone sit Ronnie v Pitt? for whom? (1 Viewer)

Debating starting D. Foster over either Ronnie Brown or W. McGahee.

At this point, I think I am going with Brown and McGahee because even with Foster's good match up there is a reason I drafted Brown 1 and McGahee 2.

Starting Culpepper. Chambers, and R.Brown tonight

:scared:

I do have a decent option in T.Jones.

My reasoning is this:

1) Start your studs

2) Charlie Batch

3) Opening Night, baby!

You should be salivating at the chance to start any opponent of Charlie Batch. Was Tommy Maddox unavailable? This will be the most hilarious NFL season opener in a long time. He will put up at least 3 ints tonight and be benched for St. Pierre, I can't wait its going to be awesome.

Thanks for the great posts.

I think Joe hits the nail on the head b/c we don't have any track record to go by this year so far.

I have RB, FWP going tonite also. TJones is my flex. I do have Droughns but I just can't put him in for Ronnie rt. now even though it is tempting v. Saints. I just don't see Cleve. line being very good, we'll see.

I think Ronnie plays well tonite also like most. Should be a great game, can't wait.
Really? Do you feel more confortable starting Brown after Joes post ?
So yeah, I can see dropping down Brown. I just talked to a buddy of mine this morning and I told him I'd start Westbrook against the Texans over Brown.

Should you do that? I dunno. But that's what I'd do.

J
I understood that Joe would bench Brown in favor of a RB with a better matchup. Also, remember the preseason game that Brown was shut down by the Panthers D

As I sad... I am on the same boat, starting TJones and Foster over Brown.

I absoultely will not start a lesser light over Brown. It's the first week of the season, people... playing the matchups can wait until you have a good idea of where defenses really stand. I am starting Brown and FWP tonight and look forward to the ensuing fireworks to come. God bless football season!

i think we all know where the PITT D stands this year. This is a bad match up but i am still starting brown over kevin jones and chester taylor

:loco: Batch isnt that bad man

   Midway through the 3rd quarter, Batch is 9/18 for 96 yds, TWO TDs, and ZERO INTs.

Brown got me 8 pts in my league tonight. I'll take that any day against the Pitt defense. Now if only I didn't play against the owner who has Heath Miller. I'll be lucky to pull out the win this week. I'm down 11 pts, but that's not Brown's fault.

:confused:I think we need to see how Westbrook plays first, no?J
Yep - I'll be looking for an owned post headed in my direction if Westbrook goes off. You have to admit though, at this point, if you had the choice to take Brown's nite, or go into Sunday with Westbrook, you'd take the 60 total yards and 2 TDs from Brown.

 2 TDs and 60 total yards = 8 pts?

18?

2 TDs for Ronnie Brown tonight - don't even THINK of sitting him.
Ok Gore it is.
.......crow salad, crow and potatoes, crow burger, crow sandwich. That- that's about it.
I went against the Gunz jinx and started Ronnie. 18 points is very decent.Unfortunately, the guy I am playing has the Steelers D. : (
Pfff...I'm matched up with a rabid Steeler homer who started the D, Miller, Ward, and Batch. Friggin guy beat me twice last year (2 of my 3 losses) and it appears as though his luck is impossible for my player choosing skills to overcome. Oh well, 0 for 6 now on opening weekend.

I saw the topic thread and without reading any of the responses I only want to ask is why would you consider benching your first round pick????????

GUPPIES

I started him tonite....my 7th overall pick!!!!

Thanks TG.Sure, Brown scored nice FF points. We'll see what Westbrook does against the Texans.Let me ask it this way though, if Miami was set to play Pittsburgh next week, how highly would you rank Brown based on what you know now?J

You've got me there. The Miami running game looked terrible all night - I never saw any holes materialize and defenders seemed to know the Phins were running the ball every time Dante handed the ball to Ronnie. Hudson Houck has some work to do. I'm surprised that the Phins didn't continue to go to Brown through the air; I was very impressed by Brown's ability to catch the ball seemlessly and I thought he made things happen when he had even the slightest bit of space. He had 3 catches for 32 yards in the first half, and then wasn't targeted again, IIRC. Watching the film, I'll bet Saban is wondering the same thing.

Good points TG.And it illustrates a bigger point with FF: Don't beat yourself up over "bad" calls that you actually got right. If you thought Brown would struggle last night and moved him down your list, guess what? You were right. He struggled in a huge way against a very tough PIT defense. You were right to move him down. He had the good fortune of seeing some goal line work and got in. Polamalu missed a tackle that he doesn't normally miss and he scored. But if you had it to do all over again, knowing what you know now, you'd probably slide Ronnie Brown down your rankings if MIA was playing PIT again next week. That means you made the right call this week. You can't beat yourself up over a couple of TDs that were not consistent with how he played. It's not like Brown looked great and ran for 125 yards with 4.5 ypc. He struggled mightily and was fortunate wtih two short carries. Huge difference.Too many times I see folks just killing themselves for making a decision that didn't turn out. Don't do that. Make the best call you can and realize that sometimes you were right, even if the results don't show it.J

That's all true, but cmon....anyone benching Brown is either in a small league or has unusually good RB depth. Benching such a player because he plays a good D is foolish.
