Anyone tried something like this and had it work (1 Viewer)

Due to injuries and foster and colston on bye I had to resort to starting stafford, megatron, burleson, and pettigrew. I really have no other options to play. Had anyone ever tried this or think it could be successful?

I would not typically seek a lineup that is so heavily dependent on Detroit having a good passing day, but at least you have four players from a relatively strong offense. It would clearly be far worse to have four Cleveland Browns, for comparison.

Objectively, you have a top 5-6 QB, the #1 overall WR, a borderline WR3/WR4, and a borderline TE1/TE2. Not a problem. Of course, you are far more vulnerable to one single game costing you production than would normally be the case with generic starters of that same caliber aligned with mostly different teams. If Detroit gets up early with one or more defensive scores, you'll likely be in trouble. If Detroit has great success rushing, you could be in trouble. If a defensive struggle/field goal fest erupts, you'll be potentially in trouble. All in all, though, I expect the odds favor you being just fine. Your RBs and other WR (if a start 3 league) can hopefully make up for any issues you may have.

1999ish Rams would have been good.

My opponent rolled out Brees, Sproles, Colston, Graham, Saints Kicker in a 12 team PPR last week but I punked him thanks to Fitzgerald and Gronkowski.

I agree with the Jerk, depending on the matchups, that's not a bad combo (Det).

certainly when det is playing the ####ty CAR D too... They should put up a 35-40 pts in that one.

Thanks guys, I'm defiantly worried a bit after last weeks showing but really have no choice so I'll hope for a detroit blow out.

I've started Stafford, Johnson, Hanson and the Lions defense four times this year.

This week, I added Smith.

I'm not usually a big fan of tying fortunes to tightly to one team, but events at my draft led me in that direction (Stafford hung around into the 7th round and I just couldn't leave him out there.) And as I said earlier in the thread, if they're good players, it will usually work out. I'd much rather have more talented players lumped together on one team than be more diverse with weaker players. That's for sure.

When it comes to the fantasy playoffs, it's a little more difficult, as a high concentration can make your team more volatile. However, if you think about having a QB, RB, WR and PK all on one team, some of the effects are self-regulating. If Detroit has a strong passing day, then Smith might suffer, but big days by Stafford and Johnson compensate for it. If moderate (not severe) red zone struggles arise, a big day from Hanson can make up for a missed TD or two. The only thing that can totally take you down is if Detroit just completely can't get out of their own way. As in last week at Chicago. Seeing that matchup and the wind, the only Lion I started was Johnson, so that worked out OK for me too.

If I make the fantasy championship in Week 16, I'll almost certainly start all my Lions and maybe the defense against San Diego. If they're my best players and get me to the championship, I'll try to win the title or go down fighting with them.
