Anyone want to take a stab at the media reaction to Biden's first formal news conference? (1 Viewer)

CNN==Tough questions all around. BIden was presidential and answered them with transparency

FOX==Softball questions that didn't get answered as Biden fumbled with his words and looked to be at death's door.

Not surprised by that.

I watched most of it, thought he got tough questions. He dodged some, answered some.

Nothing shocking from him, nothing controversial from the reporters.

Did you watch it?

My summary as well

It was....,dare i say it,  typical for a presidential press conference.

Biden did OK.  Only stumbled a couple times.  Did not really give much in substance but the media did not press him much either so why should he?

The one female did press him a little and it seemed stangre because everyone else was so nice to him.   I don`t think he could have handled all the interuptions and a hostile media all yelling questions at him like Trump dealt with.

They still won`t let any journalists in to the border crisis so that means it is worse than we think.

A few answers were good, a few bad and a few he just said "I don`t know"  I did not like that he had a notebook with written answers that he kept looking down at like he was the press secretary.   But all in all it was OK and what I expected.

I agree with your points.

I do think he got pressed quite a bit on the border stuff and on the filibuster. There were at least a couple reporters who asked multiple follow ups for things that he didn’t have great answers for. He doesn’t like being pressed as much as the next guy and you could see him being dismissive a couple times which isn’t a good look.

With Trump he either enjoyed the circus as strategy or wasn’t good at dealing with it - take your pick.

The I don’t know was odd. He could have just said we are working as fast as we can or something (2 weeks was Trump’s BS answer to everything until people started noticing that). It was a strange pause after that but it was probably one of the most honest answers he could give there

I thought he was pretty decent answering those questions for what is his biggest negative issue to deal with right now.

The notebook thing to me is a non-issue.

My summary as well

Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me...

1. He didn't accuse a reporter of being "fake news" if he didn't like the question?

2. He didn't blame the opposing party for all problems?

Yes..I forget what question it was when he did get mad and his eyes got wide and he raised his voice in his answer.

Now that you bring it up, he tried to blame the border crisis on the previous opposing party, yes.

"What he did was he dismantled all the elements that exist to deal with what had been a problem and continues to be a problem for a long time, he shut down the number of beds available," Biden said.
I mean Trump closed the facilities, what was Bides supposed to do?  Find the keys and open them up?  Perhaps think about the ramifications of an executive order before signing it?

Scripted engagement with some specific complicit "media" is not freedom. It is not the application of true freedom. It's a violation of why the press actually is supposed to exist.

It's a short step from telling people what to think lest they face another purity test.

This isn't even softball Q&A, this is essentially Tee Ball.

It's becoming more and more clear that Biden has no idea what is going on and is looking for his lost VHS tape of Murder She Wrote. I'm surprised there wasn't an egg salad sandwich with the crusts cut off in that binder.

Almost all of the MSM is complicit. Big Social Media is complicit. Big Tech is complicit. Big Education is complicit. Hollywood is complicit. This is not freedom. This is sanctioned group think that attempts to normalize "fact checking" of actual opinion as if opinion was some kind of open terrorism.

Here is what I've seen all my life, from traveling to where Western cameras don't go, and has been shown over and over again in all of recorded human history. Dissenters are purged quickly. But zealots who fail progressive purity tests much later? The power brokers always go slow and hunt down the children of zealots first. Because it's the children of zealots who are the only ones left to actually ask the larger questions that are no longer allowed.

The Sonderkommandos were purged last, but they were still purged. Too many 4th tier lawyers at FBG and not enough students of history.

I genuinely feel sorry for each and every young child who is born from a member of this community and every community. They deserved better than the world that's going to be left behind for them.

The mistake you are making is thinking I'm trying to convince you of anything at all.

Lots of moderates and undecideds and liberals with troubling questions who don't post on the PSF at all but watch and read and listen.

You think they aren't considering the future for their children as Biden bumbles and mumbles along as America's enemies are raging at the gate?

This wasn't a Press Conference. Biden was never going to be held to the fire on questions brought up in the videos above.

What happened was a Dog And Pony Show for leftist activists posing as MSM.

Such a sad excuse, clearly border security was Trumps top priority and he can’t control that the open borders party obstructed him.

I am a bit concerned at how much Biden looks to have aged the last year or so, wow. I really hope he can hang in there.

VIDEO: Joe Biden red faced as live feed CUT OFF amid White House briefing •Mar 4, 2021

The awkward moment Joe Biden's live feed was cut off by the White House staff just after he offered to take questions from lawmakers.

Only taking prepackaged questions and then being cut off from answering reporters ( clearly Biden was going to do it, then someone decided he shouldn't speak. Who gets to tell the sitting President Of The United States that he can't speak to the press? Who does that? Who has that power? Why do they have that power? ) says a lot of ugly things about the current chain of command at the White House.

That doesn't seem to bother some, not all, of you cancel culture lefties, but it should bother all Americans period.

That's not democracy. It's not democracy when clearly someone who was not elected is in charge of what our sitting POTUS can say or not say to the press.

Many people, some of the best people, are saying it was a good press conference.

But it's not just one press conference is it? It's a chain of troubling events. He's slurring his words. He thinks he's running for Senate. He can't walk up a set of stairs. He sounds lost and confused. The terrifying thing is the question on if this is better than the younger Biden, who plagiarized and created the Crime Bill and talked about opposing busing and keeping his kids from "racial jungles"

Is that the most positive thing anyone can say? That if Biden has dementia, he might have forgotten how to lend inference/fodder for accusation that he's a racist?

Leftists should watch Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg and Tulsi Gabbard the next four years. And ask themselves why the following names never had a chance period in the DNC primaries. And let's not pretend getting the DNC ticket was purely clean in 2016/2020.

No one who can actually help America has a chance because unelected power brokers can't fully control them.

And yet some of you, though not all, still want to defend that. I get why some of you hate Trump, but this goes beyond Trump, this goes deep into your own party.

How can anything be shocking if it's not a press conference but controlled propaganda?

The press corps is not meant to function as being complicit towards a specific partisan group to the detriment of all American people.

But Shapiro brings up an fair point, in a real press conference, the new Hunter Biden gun scandal would actually get covered. And that the 25th Amendment was regularly talked about by the leftist MSM as a tool to push Trump out of office, but would it happen here if it becomes more and more evident that Biden is no longer fit for office?

I have no idea what your point is.

The most disappointing part of the press conference is Biden likes to talk about unifying.  Judging by the media questions and who asked them, there is no attempt to unifying the sides.  He doesn't have to, but quit giving the appearance that we must.  Not saying it has to be 50/50, but these were basically teeball questions given to him.

It is what it is (I hate that phrase BTW).

Yes I was anxiously awaiting for Carlson to analyze Biden’s first press conference for about a negative 1 seconds.
You know the guy Fox News lawyer stated in court “Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrive with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes."

Also sounds like the entirety of the MSM.

I thought the press conference was staged and not befitting a functioning democracy. Just like Trump's entire presidency wasn't.

We've gone down a dark hole here and I'm not sure we're getting out of it.

And before people chime in with "Trump started it," remember that it was actually Obama that began to sidestep the press and prompted transparency concerns from even the most sympathetic media. He bypassed them by pumping his own presidency and his own version of "the facts" on social media, and even worse, he did it in an official capacity.

That's where this begins. Obama had a hostile relationship with the press and access, and created the blueprint for it.

It's a lot more than "bof sidez." It goes straight back there and to the fragmentation of the news media. News media became overtly partisan during Obama, trading objectivity for access, which media depends on.

I can totally live with this scandal.

Agreed, if we're talking about a sliding scale of relativity here. It's so much better than the criminal self-dealing and the idiocy of the notion of bleach killing the coronavirus. But it is still worrisome.

The bias and partisanship of the media is on full display the last couple weeks.

Media: Hey Joe, we want access to what is happening on the border.

Joe: Dont worry we will be transparent.

Media: When

Joe: at some point in time

Media: okay, thanks for being super duper nice. keep up the great work.

Perfect summation. I watched the press conference, or at least a good chunk of it, and that seems to have been the response. Can you imagine if this was Trump? I wondered that aloud to some Biden supporters the other night and got no response. Everybody knows. It's no secret. Only ostriches like tim don't believe in media bias. The rest of the Democrats are just happy the media is on their side when they deny it.

I did not see the entire press conference but I am guessing Biden never made any asinine comments such as “I like people who weren’t captured”

(On a side note if I see a Trump flag and a POW flag on the same location of someone I know, I plan on sending them a note asking them to remove the POW flag as Trump has told us he never appreciated POWs)

He made a few.  The most egregious was this:

‘The idea that I’m going to say, which I would never do, if an unaccompanied child ends up at the border, we’re just going to let them starve to death and stay on the other side — no previous administrations did either, except Trump.’
