Finished the night with a win with Bangalore. Luckiest game I've ever played. Started down below Mirage and worked our way into the cave. Took out one squad next to a legendary drop. Ran up from train yard around the mountain into the city.  Get jumped by 2 teams. Both teammates go down. I get down to 1 bar of life and somehow manage to escape and heal. Go back to where teammates banners are and 2 teams are fighting but ring closing in them. I stay behind and wall and heal a few times in storm and finally go hoping the teams have moved on. They had. Grabbed banner and start up heal healing along with way. Have a gold body shield and helmet so heals quickly.  I start getting shot in the storm so throw smoke and drop the ultimate. Barely get out of the storm with 1 bar of health left and hide.  Now out by survey camp. Respawn both teammates. They loot up as quick and possible and head to the edge of the map next to survey camp. 2  other teams left.  We just wait on edge of cliff for them to start fighting. Let them fight briefly and hurt each other. The couple guys left  start darting toward the next ring and we mow them down. Too easy.  Another game I couldn't have gotten out without Bangalore.

My other win where I got the last kill I was basically useless the whole game and the 3rd of our party peaced out very early.  It was one of those games where there must have been battles early because we hadn't seen too many squads, but there were only 5 or so left with a pretty big circle still.  We were around Lava City, manage to down a squad, but I also got killed in the process.  I didn't think it was a good idea, but partner sprinted for it and respawned me, and luckily there was cargo drop right there with a Devotion.   We get back up on a building and wait.  I peek over the side and see one dude squatting by a car and say F-it and started firing and took him out in a couple seconds surprisingly enough for the win.  Seems like my wins where I get last kill are basically when I just say #### it at the end because I haven't done squat the whole game and I end up doing something.  I guess I maybe should start trying that a little more in game.  

Also as I think about my play as I was going last night, I really don't move around much in fights.  I am so focused on trying to land hits and kills, I am not dodging or trying to get behind anything.  I felt I did a little better last night kills/wins/damage wise, and made an effort to focus on a handful of guns.  Besides the very beginning stage of game, I don't think I fired with anything but a Prowler, Triple Take, Flatline, 301, Wingman, or Peacekeeper.

I am a step below still.  For sure still not consistently getting enough damage/kills.   I would say my average is about 200 damage, and 1 maybe 2 kills.  Cant remember the last time I had 3+ kills or over 600 damage.

Trust me. We're pretty close. I'm very mediocre but can make a difference as a support member of the team. 

 
I can still go multiple games in a row without a kill, but I'm getting 400 to 500 damage more consistently now.  I win at least some of my one on one battles now. Still prefer to not be the one to initiate an attack. I like to stay back briefly to see where every player is located. Getting a better feel of when to push and when to fall back

I wish some character's ult was being told how many in a squad are left somehow- like Bloodhound scan tells you were an enemy is and if they are alone or not.  

Seems like a lot of times I try to be active I go in against 2 or 3 players. 

 
I will end on that note for the night- unlocked Mirage, played 2 games, got 2 wins.  

Even if not in the kill/damage dept, I am improving in the wins.  S3 had only 17 wins in 445 games, S4 so far with 12 in 81 games.  

 
It's definitely getting easier to get wins.  I'm having the worst luck with FBGs. Continue to get put in impossible situations. So odd

I always joked with my buddy the couple times we were able to play that I was worse/more nervous when we played because I knew if he happened to die first he would be watching my POV and know exactly how horrible I was.  :lol:

Got an amazing shipment from @East Coast Bias on Valentine's Day.   DLd Apex last night, but didn't get a chance to play, but fired it up today.   Could be placebo effect of having the upgraded controller, but I felt more confident.   Played a handful of games and ended on a win with the final kill.  3 squads circling in train yard, people running by me as I self healed with the gold shield, pop up just in time to hit the last player in back of the head as they backed into me.

Oddly, the teenager seemed to hate the new controller and said he couldn't hit crap in the few games he played this afternoon.    :shrug:

I do probably need to look at something to help set up the thing further, but I liked it more.  Still have 0 clue what the switches in the back do- hair triggers I think? 

Btw I am moonyanchor on xbox.

Oh, you have one of the elite controllers, too? It is on now! 

 
Of course my son had to burst my bubble this morning.  Wife and I were at a concert last night and he said he played a few more games on the Xbox, and had 20 kills in 3 games.   His theory is that there are fewer people/lesser competition on the Xbox.   He claimed to see the same name pop up in the lobby a couple of times in the short time he was on.    

Maybe they do throttle the competition a little in the early stages?  I mean we are back to 0 and starting over, and you can't play ranked matches until you get to level 10 either.

That is awesome. Go into settings in Apex and make sensitivity at least 3 or higher, change response curve to linear, then go into controller settings on your Xbox and change right stick to "smooth."

I could almost guarantee more people are playing on Xbox than Playstation.  I'm sure you're probably getting paired with people on the lower levels at first. I'm in the 200s now. I probably should start playing on the new account I started.

Thanks for the last two.  I do have sensitivity to 5 and 4.   I will set that when the 4year old takes her nap.

I think there is a bit of that going on.  Even on the PS4 when I started the 2nd account I noticed a jump in competition about level 20 or so.   When I played yesterday afternoon there were quite a few teammates with level 10 or less.   Also a lot of bastards logging of, so at least playing with just one teammate instead of 2 is consistent between platforms. ;)

Yeah, that part blows. 

 
I guess I did go too cheap on the headphones from Amazon.  After 1 day the kid said he cant hear people talking.  Will double check that something isn't switched off, but might have to try again on that front.

I agree with Flap it’s probably the skills based matchmaking kicking in.

I did this, and played one game, but something was off with the left stick.  On dropping/running, I would veer to the left pretty significantly.

Seems fine otherwise and for other settings, but just when I set it like Flap suggested, it was doing that.  I assumed I did something wrong.  I will poke around more tonight if the teen ever stops playing.

That's odd when you didn't change the Left stick. Play around with the different settings to get a feel for it. Can try delayed curve on Right stick as well. 

 
Wtf?  Duos is worse than regular. Tried 3 matches, I was jump master in all 3, and all 3 partners drop to completely different location on their own.  :wall:

It might be because everyone is on their own party, but it shows that people are talking, but I dont hear them.  I am just trying to figure out if the headset I got was crap.   My son said he heard people on chat on ps4, but we haven't on xbox yet.

Guessing you're right and it's because they're in their own party. I'll be on in a few and we'll check it out. As I stated earlier in the thread, I always mute my squad when it's randoms.
