*** APEX LEGENDS *** - ̿ ̿ ̿̿’̿’\̵͇̿̿\=(•̪●)=/̵͇̿̿/’̿̿ ̿ ̿ ̿ (2 Viewers)

Wtf- I am not sure if I was drunk one night or my son was farting around with the settings, but they were jacked when I just looked.  I read an article to adjust to large dead zone if you have old controller and/or you've seen motion continue without pushing buttons, so I went in to do that.  Sensitivity and ADS were at 2, field of vision was at minimum, and couple others were weird.  0 clue how long I've been playing like that.

My 9 year old just got his first season 4 win!

Proud moment that will turn into grumpy old man moment in about 1 month when you are in here talking about how your 9yr old is better at video games than you.   Seems like that is one of those dad/I'm getting old milestones.

Like I said, 0 clue how long I have been playing on those settings, but damn that sped the game up.  I thought it would be a lot worse, and maybe it was just last night, but I thought it made a difference in the right way.  Slightly more kills than normal, but I was also asst killing a bit too.  Ended the night with a 16 kill team win, and I think at least 3-4 were mine and a few assts.

Still jump around as to who I seem to prefer as a character.   Played a couple as Revenant, but did I see right that when you do the Death Totem it ignores your shields or something?  Last night was mostly Caustic and Bloodhound.

I am sure in one of my gin fueled frustrated gaming sessions I dropped the sensitivity to 2 thinking slowing things down will help my game/aim.

If my information I received today is correct, looks like KP might be able to bring up the rear for the FBG Apex gang soon.  :excited:

I think this was about the age my son started getting better than me at games and beat me at Madden.  Also, about the time I stopped playing against him.  ;)
I remember being unstoppable on the first Halo vs mode.  That was the first true FPS I ever played. Now, I just get embarrassed.

First game of the night for me. Win with Wraith and I got the final 2 kills. I can't figure for the life of me why I'm so helpless when I'm teaming with FBGs.  Maybe stage fright.

2nd place with 3 kills in second game

Final game of the night. Win.  4 kills 684 damage. Was very close at the end.  Couldn't have done it without the Pathfinder in our squad setting a couple key zip lines at the right spot. Settled into the right settings with the new controller.

Had to get 1 more in. 2 wins in a row to end the night
So when you get multiple kills a game, decent damage, and winning a few games a night do you officially don't suck anymore? ;)

You thinking the controller is making a lot of difference - did you shift where buttons are?  Getting used to this map more?   Seems like you have definitely taken a good step forward in the gaming.

I waffle on thinking I'm getting better. Sometimes I think that and then go on a run of getting destroyed over and over. The controller has definitely helped, but I need to be put in favorable situations to do well.

I didn't change any of the buttons yet.  I upped the sensitivity level so I could engage quicker. When I did this with the old controller, my aim would fly all over the place and make hitting anything even more impossible.   Using the new controller, I changed the response curve of the right stick to "smooth," which made my aim more controlled even after upping the sensitivity.  It's still just default mode level 3 sensitivity. I tried high but it was too fast.

Definitely getting better. Can still go multiple games in a row without a kill due to situation, but getting multiple kills more often. Up to 0.5 Kill/Death. Still sucks but big improvement over previous seasons. Would like to start getting 5 kills a game. Feels like I don't get credit for quite a few of them.

I know it's been said before, but I cannot overstate how awesome the Prowler with Select Fire is in the final circles. I melted a guy last night who had full shields in about .7 seconds for the win.

Ok night.  I think 1 maybe 2 wins, some top 3 finishes.   After the first night of the new settings I felt I instantly hit a wall the next couple days and couldn't get much more than 100 damage a game.  Last night I at least was in the 300-600 damage range more times than not.   Felt like I was able to keep aim a little steadier for whatever reason.

Sadly, I think most of my kills were coming via Gibralter's Ult (got 2 from a squad with this) or by throwing grenades though.

Oh well, if we start to team up, I will at least make sure to ping you guys some good loot and leave the good armor for you.  ;)

I just feel very unlucky in finding the hop ups for the guns I actually have.   Feels like I see them in the early stages when I have some donk gun like a 2020 and no backpack, take a chance on one and then choose incorrectly as I come across 2-3 different hop ups.     Seems like when I have the selectfire I don't have a Prowler or vise versa.   Or have a fully kitted Triple Take besides the choke, can't find Anvil rounds when I have a Flatline, etc, etc.

I also feel like the majority of the time I have the wrong guns for the matches we are in.  We got in a sniper fight in Train Yard with about 4 squads near the area and all I had was a shotgun and R99, so me of all people had to try to push in and help that way. .   Get caught in a close quarter end game battle without a shotgun/wingman, etc..

One thing that I have started to learn is that the way I play, I don't need an assload of bullets and don't get many chances for using health/cells, so I start to load up on the grenades and arcstars and try to help out that way.

Since my aim is still off, I think I just need to focus more on getting stuff that does more damage when I do hit - heavy guns, shotguns, maybe a sniper.   I have been OK with an R99, but really need a good stabilizer.     Still 0 luck with the burst weapons, the LStar, Havoc, or pistols.

This is me! I try to carry 10 grenades of varying type if I have a decent backpack. Especially nice are the burning ones (the  name escapes me). If your'e in a small building, and I'm carrying 'nades and running with Caustic, oh Nellie, are you screwed.

After much trial and error, Wraith has become my main character.  301 with a 1x and Flatline with 2x or Triple Take with a 3x are my main weapons of choice.  Similar to Jobber,  only need a few stacks of ammo and carry a ton of throwables once I have a good backpack. I completely ditched the R99 and shotguns at this point. G7 no longer what it was.  Hitting anyone with Prowler is also pointless for me. In really close quarters, I can melt a guy with an L-Star, but it's too situational to be useful for me consistently.

Game is definitely a little easier than when the season first began.  I'm sure the new season brought out all of the best players over the first few days.

What's making you land on Wraith?

I still keep going back and forth with characters.  Doesn't help as I think I am doing one thing with an Ult and forget who I am and something else happens.  There really isn't one that I hate anymore, but probably use Wattson the least, and just started with Gibralter.    Also got a little tired of Revenant, so my main two now are Bloodhound and Caustic with others thrown in randomly as I get bored.   I think if I played with teammates more consistently I would probably do Lifeline/Bloodhound a little more and maybe Crypto, as my role is more support and pointing out enemies.

It just came together that way. I like the way she moves. I like knowing when someone is aiming at me right away. I started really getting a feel for things while using her. Of course, I like being able to disappear quickly.  I haven't starting using the portal yet, but I plan on using it during battle some. It's strange how it took me this long to start using a character that has been there from the beginning.

In my final game last night, I had to use Bangalore because someone took Wraith first. It ended up working out perfect.  Had to throw smoke and her ultimate to escape. Showed back up and took down final guy in battle after both of my guys went down. Went on to have a couple battles at end and won. Wouldn't have happened without Bangalore.

I always keep one close range gun and one gun that is at least mid range.  My ideal set up has been Scout with double tap and flatline with an Anvil.

I agree with Jobber that the Prowler with select fire is an amazing gun that is very underrated.  Imo better than a decked out 99, peacekeeper, or flatline.   Problem is the stock prowler isn’t very good, so I’ll usually toss it for a flatline early in the game.   I think the 301 is a decent substitute for the G7 and better in some situations, although when combined with a fully kitted flatline there is too much overlap.

I don’t really bother with snipers - the G7 with a 4x was the best I could ever do anyways and they kept that in the game.  Generally content to hide and play defence if my team decides to get into a sniping battle, or else will try to push/flank if I think the opportunity is there (which often does not end well).

As you know, I now main Bangalore and she is awesome, especially as a flanker.   Have to be careful about being too reliant and instinctual about her smoke though.  Have had several games where someone took her and I wound up with Pathfinder, and instead of smoking out of a heated fight I ended up grappling myself right into the middle of enemy fire.   Not good.

I have the most kills with Wraith - don't know why I don't use her much anymore.

I hear what hx is saying - similar to when I was using Wraith a bunch but starting going to Caustic.  Would get into a fight, hit the button to run, and just drop a ####in' gas trap out in the open.

Hate when that happens.  Rarely, do I not get either Wraith or Bangalore in a match, so getting their ultimates mixed up usually doesn't make a big difference.  I think your buddy was right about Gibraltar. His movements are just too clumsy for me.

I just had some success in the end games because I was using a bunch of grenades and dropping his Ult down.   I am too indecisive with characters, but I really should try to focus on just using the same handful of guns and hoarding up on grenades and such.  Honestly don't know how much the different characters matter as far as my survival rate in the game.

I should find an article listing how much each gun sprays.  Saw a blurb in one about guns stating how hard the 99 is to control if you are a newb.  I think I pass over the Flatline and Prowler because I am convinced I need that barrel stabilizer.

I've gotten to where I like using the Flatline as a mid range gun with a 2x when I can't get a good sniper, along with my 301.  If I unload a clip from the 301 into someone and that doesn't do it, I just switch quickly to my Flatline and finish them off.  If I can get a fully kitted 301 and Triple Take with a 3x, I'm all set.
