Apple (AAPL) : Tim Cook announces iForum. Dodds and Bryant prepare shut down operations (1 Viewer)

I also forgot to mention (I guess because I know it will never ever happen) the possibility of additional and removable storage.  Wow, what a concept there.

Amazing that Apple broke through with an anti-Big Brother commercial and that's exactly what they became.

They just launched in China 2 months ago which isn't an easy task.  Currently 300 million people use mobile pay and the number is growing.

They sold 2x as many of the first generation iWatches as they did first generation iPhones.  Lots of room for improvements and upgrades.
Sure. But that doesn't mean the next iPhone is going to be something incredible. The 6 was nice, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't anything crazy. Cool it finally got NFC. My Samsung Galaxy S3 had NFC.

The Apple Watch sales were decent, but I've come across maybe a handful of people that have them. The majority of people I know have iPhones, maybe 3 of them have an Apple Watch. Yes, there's room for improvements, but will those improvements be enough to get people to buy the new thing? If you just spent $350 on an Apple Watch last year, are you really going to shell out another $350+ for the 2nd gen Apple Watch this year?

If you went back in time, only half of those people would have had a first generation iPhone.   I'm not a fanboy, heck I just got a new Galaxy S7.  Those that are though have shown to be unbelievably loyal, they will pony up for the latest and greatest and Apple has a history of innovation and making piles of money.  I have a decent size of Apple stock and will be holding unless it gets below $90 then I'll be buying a lot more.

Apple has guarded the Iwatch sales figures because they are so bad, but you see some estimates that would have you think that up until they slashed the price by 33% they would sell 200 iphones between one Iwatch sale.  That's not exactly loyalty.  There was a temporary surge in sales when they cut the price, but that's surely waned as they announced a refresh.

I would probably lay money that only 1 in 100 iphone users has gone to the watch.  And that number isn't likely to improve, ever.

Sorry, it's not a good analogy. People didn't even know what an iPhone was. Sales comparing iPhone first generation to an iPhone accessory when they have sold over a billion iPhone 6ish phones. They sold 3.7 million first gen iPhones. Selling more than that is diddly compared to the number of total iPhones in use today.

Sure they have a portion of people who are very loyal and will buy anything with the Apple logo on it. The problem is, those people weren't buying the Apple Watch. I have an iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air, and Apple TV. I can't find a reason to drop $350 on an Apple Watch when it does nothing that my phone and current "dumb" watch can't do.

The watch isn't going anywhere soon.  Who know what will be 5+ years in the future, but for now, the watch is a gimmick.

Oh I agree. The watch will be around for awhile, but they'll have to do something really special to get more people to buy it, IMO. And I'm just not sure what that will be.

So if you were dumb enough to buy at its peak is it time to average down?

nalysts still remain steadfastly bullish on Apple shares - as they have long been - in a bet that's worked out until the stock hit the wall in February 2015. Analysts still have an 18-month price target on the stock of $123.96.

But the bullishness is fading as the market indicates something is amiss, especially as Alphabet picks up dominance in the low-end smartphone market and Microsoft (MSFT) is focused on profitable cloud services that add functionality to any device be it one running Apple's iOS, Alphabet's Android of its own Windows 10. UBS analyst Steven Milunovich this week cut his price target on Apple to $115 from $120. Milunovich downgraded his profit forecast as the race to buy the latest iPhone seems to be a thing of the past. "Upgrades to the iPhone 6 have been disappointing with an apparent lengthening of the upgrade cycle due to changing carrier plans and less feature differentiation," he wrote in a report to clients.

I also think no longer subsidizing phones is bad for them too... When I have the option to buy a new one every two years, I do. Now that I'll either have to basically pay $30 a month for a phone, I'll prob buy a new one every 3 years or so, maybe even longer.

Wonderful Apple story to share today.

Been using Ting (thanks Hulk) for several years now. Very happy with the service and cost. Three phones on account and monthly bill is usually around $45. Super cool. Ready for a newer iPhone. Decide on the SE. Before purchasing the unlocked phone on the Apple website learn there are two models of the SE. One is much better on the Spring network (model A1723). Use online chat with an Apple agent and learn that buying via their website I would be getting the wrong model number. No sweat. He gives me a phone number to call for their iPhone sales department. Says they can hook me up with correct model. I'm wanting to buy via Apple because I have a $75 gift card to utilize.

Call Apple phone sales. After describing situation they say they can't sell it to me. WTF? I have credit card in hand ready to pay, but no, they won't take my money to sell me the right model. Sorry sir, I can't help you with that. You have to go to an Apple store in person and perhaps they will have one. Great. That's in Seattle about 100 miles away. #### my life.

I have money I want to give them. They have the phone I want. No, I can't have it because some sales agent sitting in front of a computer doesn't have the correct button to push.

:AppleFacePalm:

Not seeing anything special here today. I'd like a new(er) computer but at $1,500... nope. I'd rather buy a Surface Pro 4 for that price. Did I just say that?

I also emptied my boy's savings accounts and bought Apple at $92.  They think I'm freaking Warren Buffet.

Unless something has changed AAPL has been lagging the NASDAQ.  Tech stocks as a whole are on a huge tear.  Hell, all stocks are on a tear.  But good for you for putting money somewhere.

Not sure where to put this, but what were people's thoughts on WWDC? Seemed a little underwhelming to me.

I just bought the Sonos Play 5 a year ago, so I doubt I'll be a Homepod owner in the near future, and certainly not if it remains mostly just a great speaker.

The HomePod will be interesting to see how it sells. It's way more expensive than the Echo Dot and almost twice as expensive as the Echo and Google Home. I have 2 Dots and don't really have any complaints about sound quality. Maybe it's not the greatest, but you can pair it with a Bluetooth speaker if you're really worried about audio quality.
