Are the Falcons better off with Harrington? (1 Viewer)

This is not a fishing trip. Once you stop laughing, give it a minute to sink in and look at the situation objectively:

- Yes, Harrington is mediocre. But Vick's QB play has also been mediocre. Vick has trouble reading defenses and is very innaccurate considering how much money he was making.

- While the Falcons' WRs are not stellar, how good can you look when you have a QB that can't hit you in stride?

Try to forget for a second that Vick was the most exciting player in the NFL. Try to forget that Vick is a great runner. He's a mediocre QB with a cannon arm.

Ok, unleash the hounds...

I think Harrington's QB completion % is only a point or two better than conVick's & he certainly doesn't have wheels like conVick.

So at first blush I'd say no, they're not really any better off with Piano Boy under center.

They're stuck with a guy who who's only half a step better than Vick as a passer with no 1000 yard rushing possibilities and their depth 3rd string QB is now 1 injury away from starting. On the field they are not better off. Harrington will not sell jerseys, he will not fill seats and the savings between Vick's salary and Harrington's will not make that up. Off the field they are no better off.

OK, once and for all, there is no comparison.

Vick and Harrington may have some similar stats passing but even that is not true because Harringotn has thrown for more interceptions than TD...Vick has not. Vick has a much higher yds per attempt as well. But all that is to take you away from the real difference. Vick has almost 4,000 yds rushing and averages around 800 per year somtimes as much as 1,000. That is like getting an extra RB on the field. Harrington doesn't do any of that. Hrrington is one dimensional, Vick is multi dimensional.

So all the Vick haters that can't get enough of beating Vick up in the SHark Pool and mask that hatred as a pro Joey Harringotn spin...please just spare yourself the humiliation of saying Harrington is a better QB than Vick. And forget pure QB and any other spin word...A QB is a QB and Vick happens to make a lot of what he did on the ground rather than thru the air. Vick was an exciting player and always had that X factor attached to him. Defenses were always trying to stop him.

Vick in 2002: 15/23 281 total yds and 2 TD, 16/24 286 total yds and 2 TD, 24/46 for almost 340 total yds and 2 TD...no pick in any of these games so far. 173 thru the air and 173 yds on the ground in the SAME GAME...and 3 TD to boot. 280, 380, 280 yds to close the season and then went on to win in GB if my memory serves me correct.

2004: 3,200 total yds and went to the NFC Championship

2005: 21/28 306 yds, 2TD...Joey have any games like these?

2006: 272 yd and 4 TD against Pittsburgh, 350 yds and 3 TD against Cinci, 16/24 for almost 300 total yds and 4 TD in a game against Dallas that many of us will remember.

Enough of this horsespit already.

And since Joey is the better pure pocket passer QB...let's look at his impressive numbers last season.

26/41 232yds 0TD and 2 INT

27/43 266 yds 1TD and 2 INT

33/62 414 yds 2TD and 3 INT...not that many yds for 62 attempts really and not a high completion percentage either.

16/32 137 yds 3TD and 2 INT...manages to throw for more TD than picks but a 4 yd per attempt avg...impressive

42 attempts for 250 yds

and a whopping 19 carries for 24 total yds on the ground...Joey Harrington, catch the fever!
