Are you okay with dying? (1 Viewer)

One way you sort of do.
Ouch, I see your point, Jerry.

No thanks on that route.

But, since you out-smarted me, I will offer a sincere answer.

Yes, I am OK with dying. When the time is right. I still have lots of things I want to do. I'd hate to bite it now.

I'm not religious, but I have beliefs that allow me to accept it. Some may call them religious-like, but I don't.

Taosim & Buddism come to mind as philosophies that address this well...without relying on a bearded gut in the sky.

Then, if one applies some of those perspectives to Christianity, it can work as well.

Now, whether there is any truth to all of this, I don't care. They are tools for me, and they work pretty well. :)

People who are afraid of dying haven't really lived IMO.  I think about dying and meh, there are things I want to see and do but whatever.  I'm not a religious person either, whatever I have here is the best I'll ever get IMO.  Wouldn't mind going to doggy heaven though, that exists and it seems pretty awesome.

Refusing to be okay with things, especially inevitable things, causes much unnecessary despair.

I want to come back as a dog.  Just eat, sleep, poop and play ball.

I pretty much do that as a human.  What are you doing wrong?  ;)

Depends on who owns you.
This is why there is no human heaven.  People are stupid, so many terrible souls.

If there was a God he'd have to sift through all the :bs: and it simply would be too time consuming.  Let all dogs into heaven, maybe throw in some otters and lemurs and call it a day.

I was just thinking that I wasn't too far off.  :hifive:

And having almost died twice, I'm not afraid at all right now.    Very grateful that I've made it this far and have watched my two year old grand daughter grow so far and another coming in nine weeks.... oh, and the river boat cruise in Europe this summer. Never been to Europe

I have seen to many people close to me die.  I know what people think on their deathbed.  It is not politics, sports or money.

Grateful for everyday I've been given. Try not to think about death. Hopeful that it is still a ways out. If I dwelled on it, yeah I could get myself worked up over it. Ignorance is bliss.

I agree with the bliss.  I can never remember not thinking about death since I was around 7.    I know great grammar here.

I remember saying to a very serious girlfriend..."What if God was in the form of a Tiger?"

That was the craziest thing she ever heard in her life.  That was some prime, grade A fagina my friends, but she had no imagination.

In theory God could take the form of any creature, how would God not being a Tiger be completely awesome?  One of the most beautiful and powerful creatures the earth has ever seen.

Whatever, people want to believe #### that is over two centuries old.  If religion is real and I have to meet my maker, I have good answers.  Tiger dude is gonna let me in to throw tennis balls to dogs for eternity.  I'm not worried.

My Catholic upbringing taught a lot.  I have had priests tell me there is no real hell and no real Adam and eve to start.

Hi Tony!

I simply think that all the hell I've been through on earth is for naught. That it just ends. That the suffering I've undertaken has been for nothing; again, for naught.

I loathe that thought. If only I would have done more joyful things.

It is, in two words, existential angst.

I never thought about it a whole lot until my dad came to live me his last 4 months.

He died August 2015 and ever since then I think about it pretty much every day.

I'm pretty sure religion is BS.

This is all we have.

Every day it's one day closer.

Nuns regularly locked me in a closet under a stairwell with a science-class skeleton for questioning the afterlife. Best thing anyone has ever done for me.
I am so sorry, mine only came because I had to take lib arts as a requirement and ask questions.  Never fondled.  But that is definitely when I left the buildin.

I was there when my dad died.  He wanted to die in his bed and did.  I was alone with him 12 out of his last 20 hours.  Just being there and giving morphine.  He was not religious and like you I don't believe in religion.  But a priest was there when he died or an hour before and it was comforting.  So it helped in a very real sense but I agree

I am, however, ####### terrified to the point of laying in a hospital bed bawling my eyes out at the idea of my kids growing up without me and my wife being a single mom suddenly.
Not to get too morbid, but this is what we are going through with my brother. He died two weeks ago, a day before his 41st birthday. Wife of 38, two kids, 11 and 8. It's been pure hell. Live everyday fellas. You just never know.

I just want to know the answer to the big question before I go. Other than that I could care less.

Who will finally claim the Iron Throne?
