Arian Foster torn hamstring? Per John Clayton (1 Viewer)

@ClaytonESPN John Clayton

Arian Foster tweeted his hamstring MRI and it sure doesn't look like he's been in the lineup when the season starts. He has a tear.

i wouldn't even touch him in the 3rd round now. Hamstring tears can hinder a player the entire season.

He always had nicks and pulls in college, anyone who paid attention knew this.

Arian Foster tweeted an MRI of his hamstring injury Wednesday, and assures that he'll be "fine."ESPN's John Clayton quickly jumped to the conclusion that Foster wouldn't be ready for Week 1 after viewing the MRI, but we didn't know Clayton has a medical background. "If I had a 'significant injury' why post it?" Foster then tweeted. "I'll be fine, it was just meant to make fun of the whole situation. Humor is lost nowadays." There have been rumors that Foster has a torn hamstring, but nothing to confirm them. Foster doesn't seem worried, and the Texans wouldn't be letting him run on the side of practice with a muscle tear.
It seems that there's still some discrepencies.

My gut feeling is that John Clayton did speak with a doctor(s) about this before going on air. I'm sure there are some at ESPNs beckon call.

Interesting. It does seem awfully strange that Foster would tweet an MRI that showed an actual injury. I'm not a big fan of Clayton at all, so I'll wait to hear more on this.

As a Tate owner, I have to say that I'm on the edge of my seat.

Your gut feeling? :lmao: Did Clayton talk about this on air? That tweet is only like 20 minutes old.

Regardless - no, the Texans wouldn't have him running around on a torn hamstring.

This thread should be merged with the existing hamstring injury thread. Would make it much easier to keep all news and speculation in one spot. Especially since there has been on definitive word that its torn.

Isn't a hamstring pull just a small tear of the muscle fiber anyway? Seems like Clayton is jumping to some rather large conclusions off of semantics. A "torn" hamstring, if you will, is when the muscle tears from the bone and that doesn't seem to be the case with Foster's injury. Am I mistaken here?

ETA: I know I'm not mistaken about the nature of Foster's injury, that much we know is a hammy pull. I meant, for the docs out there, am I incorrect in saying that a hammy pull is nothing more than a mild tear of the hamstring?

Not to be too picky, but why would Clayton have access to anything medically related for any player. I have 4 kids and as a parent you loose access to their records without their consent at 16 ...

Clayton has not seen the MRI results, nor will he be able to speak with any of Foster's doctors.

The Texans do not benefit by dancing around this either. If he has a significant tear then they would state it and take the necessary steps to switch gears for his health and the performance of the team. Look no further than Foster himself taking Slaton's place ...

It's all HOGWASH!

Ben Tate or D. Ward, who do you pickup?

The MRI photo was posted by FOster himself.Regardless, believe me when I say the "outcry" and paranoia is wayyyyy overboard.

I'm not really saying either way - just wanted to put a little more info out there before people freak out or do something stupid. Right now it's not exactly clear whether Foster has a tear or not. I don't draft until next weekend and don't own him in a dynasty, so it doesn't matter to me.

Would like to hear some opinion on this as well. I can stash one and drop a kicker until we know more about the extent of this.

I picked up Ward when I seen Foster go down last weekend because someone already had Tate... I have a draft tonight and would love somemore info....

Read the LAST SENTENCE, and then stop complaining.

I drafted Foster at 1.01 on monday, and sure i'm worried, but why would he ever tweet that picture if he had a signifant injury?? He is fine, relax guys.

I think the sensitivity level needs to be toned way DOWN here. My comment about Clayton and access to doctors wasn't meant to piss off Foster fantasy owners, those same guys Foster thinks are trash!

Obviously Ben Tate is the one to grab redraft and especially dynasty.
I know he's going to be the first one on everyone's list, but their OL is very solid and I could see both doing well should this be a nagging thing for a while. Tate is already going to be rostered in shark leagues. My question is if people think this will be a muddy situation or will one be an every week starter if needed..

Foster may say he's fine because he's a tough player and hard worker but hamstring injuries (torn or not) tend to linger throughout the season. It's not easy to get back to full health very quickly on a bad hammy.

Everyone keep us posted on whether or not you drafted Foster and/or Tate and if you haven't drafted, let us know when it is.
What good does that do without the scoring/line up info? Also, can you also post the rest of your roster and provide a link to the league site, people? Thanks.

(TheHuddle) Houston Texans RB Arian Foster has a tear in his hamstring according to ESPN's John Clayton.

Analysis: Clayton was able to attain the MRI picture and tweeted the news at 1:25 pm ET Wednesday. (Clayton 1, Schefter 0.) A tear means it's at least a Grade 2 hamstring injury, which sometimes can take over a month to heal. "ESPN's Dr. Michael Kaplan thinks Arian Foster could be out three to four weeks with his hamstring injury," Clayton added. When Foster injured the hammy he was left with 16 days to get ready for the opener. A four-week recovery would not only erase Week 1, it could keep Foster out of Week 2 as well. Derrick Ward and Ben Tate should be owned in fantasy leagues of all sizes.

Looks like I am PWNED some apologies!!!

If Foster is out for any period of time you'll see Ben Tate blowing up in highlight shows. Mark my words.

Man, some FF sites are dumb as nails.Foster TWEETED THE PIC HIMSELF this morning... Clayton got access to the internet is all he got access to

Anyone that thinks Tate would go out and duplicate Foster's numbers is out of their mind right now. First of all it would be a total split at best between Ward and Tate. I know Ben Tate owners that took him with a high to mid 1st rounder in dynasty are feeling better today but let's not pencil Tate in for 25 touches a game.

I would go after Ward right now, assuming Tate is on a roster in your league, both redraft and dynasty.

I guess when you own a player all logic ceases to exist, this thread is a priceless example of denial, anger and hostility towards those who are just trying to be logical.

Is it really beyond reason that Foster could've had his name added to an image of someone else's hamstring tear just to F with the fantasy football community? He himself said it was a joke soon after and him jogging indicates less severity than how that image appears. Wish we could get a doctor to give some input regarding the image. I don't think Clayton would've made the comment without getting an ESPN doctor's opinion, but I'm not convinced the image is really Arian's hammy. He could easily be playing games as a response to the earlier twitter controversy.
