As good as Edge is, the biggest problem is that he can't block for himself. Their O line was terrible last year. They added on FA (M. Brown) and one draft pick who might start (Lutui), but have already gone backwards with the injury yesterday to Oliver Ross (not clear how long he will be out yet).
He can spin it any way he wants in the interview, but he still doesn't have enough run blocking for him to reach prior levels. And right now, they are NOT a playoff team.
I give them one chance in three, which is more or less what I'd say about the Rams too. I think in all likelihood that Seattle is the only team from that division that makes the playoffs. The NFC East and/or South will provide the two Wild Card teams.
I do not see them making it to the playoffs this year. The only way they will do that is if they win the division. No way they get in as a wildcard. The wildcard teams will come out of the east and south divisions.

You are going to see a Cards team thats wins ten games this year. The East is strong and they all have to play each other twice. I think it will be harder to have th WC out of the east.

Everyone keeps harping on the O-line, but I thought that Arrington and Shipp just weren't very good. Shipp looked slow and undecisive, and Arrington went down to arm tackles constantly. Warner was getting sacked about twice per game, which really isn't that bad. I suspect that with Edge, we'll see how a good RB can make a mediocre line look a lot better, but the real issue with regards to making the playoffs is defense. You know, I can see Arizona taking the division before I see them earning a wildcard spot. Seattle's schedule is really tough, and recent history has shown that teams that lose the Superbowl tend to have terrible seasons the next year. I could see a collapse bye Seattle leading to Arizona and STL battling for the division. In that battle, I'll give the edge to Arizona b/c they are not enduring a coaching transition like STL is.
And 30th in rushing TDs allowed. The two biggest problems for the Cards are pass-blocking and depth. Both will not be addressed this season and both will cause another 6-10 finish.Look for the Cards to make noise in '07 and emerge as a contender in '08.
