ARod play "a little cheap"... (1 Viewer)

GB Pedoria...

Dustin Pedroia said that Alex Rodriguez's attempt to break up a double play in the eighth inning Tuesday was "a little cheap," adding that Rodriguez "went in late and kind of threw an elbow.""No big deal," Pedroia said. "Some people play like that and some people slide in, good, clean slide. I think he probably got a little carried away. It happens. I have to turn two against the Yankees 19 times a year. I know now that when he's coming in, my arm slot gets dropped to the floor. That's it. No big deal."

Can you imagine the whining they do if the Yanks ever threw at Manny or Ortiz?
 where does it say anyone is throwing at him...if he's too stupid to stay down on a slide (like he's suppose to) from now on, he deserves to get hit with the ball.

that would be awesome to see him throw one off of arod's face.

The Schill will hit ARod today. Maybe not if he gets warned pre-game.

Didn't he have a good 'little league' quote from years past?

And at least I heard Pedroia went to view the tapes before talking to the media.

If A-Rod gets hit today and neither ManRam or Shrek doesn't get one at least between the numbers I'll...well I won't stop rooting for the Yanks but I'll be ticked.

Funny that a guy that hasn't even been with the team in years would stand up for an intentional hit on ARod but Pettitte and Mussina probably wouldn't. Not sure about Wang or any of the youngsters. If it happens late I guess you never know what the pens would do.

I now have a new favorite 2B :goodposting:

I've been thinking about the whole A-Rod deal throughout the day and I've come to the conclusion that I hope he gets hit tonight. But not for the reasons that most of you do.

I'd like to see him get plunked, stare down Shill or whoever does it and then halfway between home and first just take off toward the mound like a crazed madman. He's a pretty big dude and I'd like to see him just lay out the pitcher at full speed and start wailing, throwing as many haymakers as possible before Varitek and the rest of the teams pile in to "break it up". I'm sick of A-Rod being the clean-cut type while throwing in a Busch league play every so often. He just needs to shed all that and go all-out badass. I'm sure his teammates and Yankee fans would rather see that than what he's been to this point. Show that he cares and is someone who isn't afraid of a fight. It would be good for him and his team and baseball in general.

I don't like the Yanks or the Sox (Cards fan), but I will be Tivoing the game tonight in hopes of some bench clearing action.

Sox fan (duh) chiming in....

I dont' blame Arod for going in like that. If Pedroia turns the DP then the game is effectively over for the yankees. He's gotta do pretty much anything he can do to break it up. He's "arod" so he won't get called on it by the umps and frankly it wasn't even really THAT dirty of a slide. He didn't try to hurt the guy.... just tried to interfere with the throw.

That said...I also love the way Pedroia went about it... checking the tapes then dropping the tongue-in-cheek arm slot comment. Kid's got a little moxie to him.

I didn't see the play, but anytime a runner slides in and uses anything but his legs to break up teh DP, I think it's dirty and they deserve whatever comes to them the next time up, or coming into 2nd on a DP.

I seen someone actually slide into 2nd, then grab the leg of the SS to tyr to disrupt him, and nothing was called by the ump. Should've been interference and runner going to first auto out.

Can't wait to see what happens tonight!! Perfect time to have Schill on the mound! ARod deserves some chin music.
