Arrest posts of former players - are they needed here? (1 Viewer)

Just my 2 cents, but basically

Do we really need these?
On a fantasy football board, where Mods often say "Lets keep this football related"
I personally am not sure what benefit this has to the overall discussion or how they are football related...at all.

Same with deaths then?
Ya know for deaths Its a little different for me.

X Player dies

Responses:

Oh man, great/good/average player. I remember when X player did this play, etc

X Players gets arrested

Responses:

"Well here is my unprofessional legal opinion, shouldn't have been there anyway, he always WAS an idiot"

Never get any real football talk about the Former Player that is arrested. Usually get a lot of good "football talk" about a player when he dies though.

Again, just my personal opinion formed from the actual posts on this message board. Check the JaMarcus Russel thread, or even the Rashee Rice thread, who is a current player, but like 5% of that thread has anything to do with football anymore.

if there is any chance the player could even sniff the league again....I think there is a place....(Antonio Brown for awhile type, etc.) ....and I would also state that I don't mind seeing updates on things like this about former players....I can always chose not to click on it....after following these guys during their playing years and investing time in them so to speak, I don't see any harm in someone posting an update on their status even if it has a negative spin.....for me, I find some of it interesting.....

I think it could be an interesting thing to talk about. No different than "X player passed away today" threads or Dad Bracket threads.

For the record, I like Dad Bracket threads. I dont think there's so many of these that there's a problem.

I'm with the few that say click or don't click on it.

I rarely click on other forums because when I have, they didn't seem as active as the Shark Pool. I guess that is probably the same reason we have Dynasty Trade Threads and Value Discussion Threads - those probably belong in the "Assistant Coach Forum" but more exposure and feedback here.

I didn't mind reading the woes of JaMarcus Russell - a lot has gone bad for a guy who could drop a football into a 5 gallon buckle from 70 yards, while on his knees.

If a player gets arrested, it should go in that player thread if one exists (person would have had to be fantasy relevant). Like a injury, it's relevant because the player would possibly be out for awhile/suspended/cut.

That being said, it shouldn't deserve a brand new thread. The whole "just don't click" ideology w8ould have been nice when I was still posting fantasy update blurbs here from Roto after games.
