Ive heard of dynasty or deep keeper leagues assigning "contract years" to players, but I'm not sure how this works. Would anyone be able to help me and give examples.
fix your title, thought I was going to read about a good way to get my contact lenses in.
As to assigning contract years, the idea is that each owner has the same number of contract years to start with. After a draft (however it's done), they will sign guys on their team a set number of years. Each league has specific limits and limitations on how many years a player can be signed for as a maximum.
So, say you do a standard snake draft and end up with Jake Plummer as your QB1. Well, you probably wouldn't want to sign him for more than 3 years. His future is somewhat unknown with the drafting and reports about Cutler so far (personally I think the Broncos are LOONEY ) But if you'd gotten Peyton Manning, you'd sign him to the max contract; say, 5 years. As his future is pretty much set and there no foreseeable drop off or change of situation.
Sorry about the "contacts" rather then "contracts"
By the way, I work for an eye Dr., so I could help with you contacts problem, lol. Actuall, we just fit Dustin Fox with some new contacts made by Nike that supposedly help with sports (like interceptions). He's coming back to our office on Monday.
Anyway, back to CONTRACTS. What is a good number to start with? And then do you have a maximum that can be assigned to each player? The following year, do you get more contract years (like an increased salary cap)?
We have 20 man rosters in our dynasty league. Each team has 40 contract years to use, max contract length is 3 years. Its also a salary cap league so the contract years are really a way to manage your cap number for future years based on the player's current contract value. A player's cap number remains the same each year thoughout the length of the contract.
