Back pain - the muscle kind. Also, I like the Cure now. Coincidence? (1 Viewer)

Long story short version-

back pain

seems to be muscular not structural

I seem to be involuntarily flexing random muscles to the point that I exhaust them or they spaz out.

i've been listening to the cure on Spotify and I think I'm a fan, who knew?

Short version long

So while leaning over while taking down Christmas lights my back spased out and it was 20 minutes before I could crawl into a sighly bearable fetal position. Doctor said it was nothing stuctural and put me on a 6 day steroid. I felt great.... for a month. Now the pain is back.

Ive been able to manage the pain by sleeping on the floor and using cruise control as much as possible. (The muscles I use to drive are the same that are giving me trouble.)

Now the new thing is I guess I'm  subconsciously  overcompensating and now while lower back is feeling better it's my upper back muscles that are killing me. It's almost as if I'm involuntarily flexing random muscle so the point that I exhaust them orcthey spaz out.

Sombody shoot me.

I've always hated the ####### Cure and Smith's.  Sad ### songs, #### that, the teen years were hard enough without those mother####ers making me feel like I should kill myself.

But it was always nice to know that however bad you felt for a moment, there were those English dudes that were much more miserable.

That's true, but when I was driving with a girl trying to figure out how to get laid, those ####### bands inevitably killed whatever mood I was able to establish.

Try a chiropractor. I had insane back pain 17 years ago and couldn't even walk. The chiro fixed me up and I walked out of the office. A few more visits and I was good to go. I'm a believer, especially for muscular stuff.

pure coincidence, imo

I stopped putting up a Christmas tree about 5 years ago because the exact same thing happened to me 2 years in a row.

You need to strengthen the muscles in your rear deltoids, lats, mid back, lower back, and glutes.  The exercises that helped me most are:

- Stiff legged dead lifts

- Lat pull downs

- Seated cable rows

- Back extensions (my favorite - strength in this area helps posture, core strength, and pulls everything together)

- Read deltoid machine

I've heard mixed opinions. Some people swear by them, other people have said it's a complete joke and they do nothing.

A value Kutta's opinion so im even more confused.

people i know that have advised going to a chiro, have been going to a chiro for YEARS for "adjustments".

it's junk science

I am fine with chiropractors (went to one for years), but a good physical therapist is much better.

Back pain is the worst.

Well, I had a great experience with mine. I literally could not walk. Went in, they did a bunch of stuff, and I walked out and went to work. I went back three more times in two weeks, and after that I felt great.

I still go occasionally for a massage or an odd pain here or there, but it's not like I "have" to go back all the time.

I say try it and see if it helps. If it doesn't help, don't go back.
