Time to go over what I think about the Super Bowl this weekend.

.....

I have seen this system or heralded type team before. Fans, media, and yes even this board has Aaron Rodgers on the brain and thinks he can win the game almost by himself; he’s the difference for this betting line right now. People are pointing to a game in the regular season last year or the year before and I just don’t think it makes a bit of difference this coming weekend.

Swing and a miss

Another key stat to me is that Pittsburgh has 38 players on their roster that have played in a Super Bowl before, and Green Bay has 2. There are clear examples of teams that didn’t have a lot of playoff or Super Bowl experience that were able to win a Super Bowl, I get that. But it makes a difference for a team like Pittsburgh.

Swing and a miss

....

I believe if Green Bay were to win this game it would be an upset despite the point spread.

They have no TE to hurt the Steelers with, True, but no one disagreed

they are not rolling the same quality of RB as Mendenhall out there; they simply are not .... James Starks is a nice story but Mendenhall is a huge advantage in the running game. True, and only Stark Man Love Society Disagreed

I expect Pittsburgh to shut the running game off almost completely for Green Bay. If the Packers muster 60 yards rushing I would be surprised. A Hit!

Once the game turns into Rodgers dropping back all the time the Steelers will smell blood in the water and bring the house. Rodgers will not have time to progress thru his reads and I think the game will become very one sided once that happens. Swing and a Miss

I can understand why folks feel this game will be close but I expect Pittsburgh to be ahead by double digits come the 2nd half going into the 4th Q. Swing and a Miss

The game will open with both teams trying to figure the other one out and sort of like jabs in a heavyweight fight.

I expect Green Bay to get a little lucky and create a big play fairly early in the game. I’ll say 7-3 Green Bay after the 1st Q. Swing and a Miss

The 2nd Q Pittsburgh will get the upper hand and Green Bay will manage a FG so we have a 13-10 score at the half. Swing and a Miss

The 3rd Q I expect Pittsburgh to dominate and I see something like 27-13 entering the 4th Q. Swing and a Miss

In the 4th Green Bay will score a TD and make it a 1 score game but Pittsburgh will find enough to ice the game and I am calling for a final score of roughly 30-20 in favor of Pittsburgh and I see their defense with at least 1 score and possibly setting up a short field. Swing and a Miss

So can Green Bay win the game? I don’t think the chances are very high but they absolutely must play mistake free football and they also have to score I believe twice on some busted coverage. If they get spotted something like 14 and then don’t turn the ball over I would say they have a chance but Green Bay having a chance vs a dynasty team like Pittsburgh A Hit!

Again, to my Green Bay friends, just enjoy the game and should you all win you can come in and rub my nose in it, I’ll be happy to eat crow come Sunday Night/Monday Morning. But for now I have a call in to Brinks and we are going to Back the Truck Up!!!

Final Score: Pittsburgh 3025...Green Bay 2031

It's petty, but yes, I am here to rub it in.

Pretty shoddy analysis by the OP.
Anxious to get your take
GB & the over.
MOP = :banned:Even the most casual fan knew PIT had no defense for GB's WRs. The outcome of this game was never really in doubt, they could never have held their own against Rogers for 4 quarters. Really, no excuse for anyone who claims to know anything about football to pick PIT, MOP just showing his ignorance in here.

Really?.... I picked PIT to win but only because I felt Ben would make the necessary plays in the end. I knew they'd struggle on D as they always do with these types of offenses but to write PIT off doesn't make much sense either (and if that's not what you are doing then I apologize for this post)

Rarely.... RARELY do the Steelers get blown out.... In shootouts Ben normally is game enough to make plays at the end to win the game. Tonight he didn't come through. When you look at it, I'm surprised that the Steelers even made it close let alone put the game into the hands of their best player with 2 minutes and 1 timeout to see if he can do what he seems to do an awful lot. He failed and that's okay because you can't always make the plays. To me Ben is STILL one of the most dangerous QBs in the league but tonight he was off.

Great game I thought and congrats to the Packers and their fans. I love my Steelers but honestly I felt like Green Bay was the better team coming in and they proved that tonight.

You just can't turn the ball over 3 times and expect to win... just doesn't happen often.

I thought the experience factor would play a role, and honestly, I think it did. I credit Tomlin and the team for coming back when it was 21-3 and playing calm, good football and getting right back in it. I think most teams would have folded and not made it as close as it was. Being on that stage before helped the coach and many skill players, I think. They stayed calm, got the TD to end the half and came out very confident in the second half. They were dominating that game for a time.

What I did NOT expect was Rodgers playing like he'd been there three times before. Sacks, drops, pressure, drops, no running game, drops...nothing rattled him. He played lights out, the defense got a big turnover from Mendenhall and Rodgers also converted critical third downs.

I thought the Steelers would win and I was wrong, but I think Pittsburgh's experience on that stage helped them come back and make it close. But Rodgers played like the guy who had been there and the better team won.

The 3 turnovers were crucial. One less and who knows...
One less Woodson injury and maybe the Steelers dont score a TD all game. Also, even though MOP couldnt have been more wrong, some of you guys are being pretty brutal.

I agree. MOP may have been wrong on many of his points, Yudkin was killing him with knowledge. But MOP wasn't disrespectful and didn't come off looking like a tool. He even asked for some salt and pepper to go with his crow. What more do you want?

Not coming off like a tool? The second he opened this thread, he wasn't only coming off like a tool, he was simply being a tool. There was a perfectly good Super Bowl thread available for everyone to post their thoughts. It wasn't even hard to find because it was pinned. He couldn't allow his analysis to be buried in there. He needed the attention. He needed to try and perpetuate the "BACK UP THE TRUCK" shtick.

I agree there was some tool factor, and he defeinitely deserved to get harrassed, i just think some people are taking it a bit too far. I guess it could be worse, the Steelers could have won and everyone would be giving me the MOP treatment in my "the line is out" thread in which i basically suggested to "back up the truck". Although i actually bet on the game. <_<

IMHO, the OP had a strong opinion, stated it and defended it; I don't see any problem with his posts and I don't see the need for any nastiness.

To each his own.....
