Baker Mayfield On Not Whining About Injuries (2 Viewers)

Some complain.
Others go out and win with the guys they have.

Just before Baker Mayfield had made that unbelievable scramble, it was announced that Emeka Egbuka was doubtful to return. I asked if he felt like he was shouldering more of the load in that moment. Would anyone have faulted him for saying yes, considering he was without his top 4 receivers?

Instead, he used it as an opportunity to prop up the guys who stepped in, who he’ll likely be leaning on even more this week. “No. I mean I truly, genuinely trust the guys that are in there.”

Sometimes we forget that Baker came in and replaced the GOAT at QB. He was asked early on what it's like stepping into Brady's shoes. He replied with something like "I'm not Brady and I'm not going to try and be Brady." Well, he has certainly proven that to be true. Baker has moxie and his team loves him.

Dan Campbell always says no other teams care about who is injured on our team

"This train never stops moving, so you ride it with what you have..next man up"

He's an Ironman. Plays through anything. It got him run out of Cleveland when he didn't take a few weeks off to heal.

I'm interested in how he'll react when his body can't take dishing out a pounding on a CB every time he runs.

lol. What alternative is there? To quit? No offense to Campbell, but that’s hardly genius.

Who said it was genius? Just fact in the NFL.

It was his response to a reporter asking abut all the injuries Lions have right now. Same as Baker stated, next man up.

Nice thread @Joe Bryant to spotlight Baker and what he's doing this season, he's in the discussion for MVP right now
I'm not saying he wins it or even deserves it more than others but he is being recognized around the NFL as a premier QB
Do we need to discuss if Baker is a Top 10 NFL QB right now?

I would say he does deserve it more than others. His team has the best record in the NFL and he has been the best player on that team. Injuries to his top RB, top WR, O-line and he is carrying that team to wins. He should be the favorite for MVP at this point.

I meant the other 4-5 people mentioned as potential MVP candidates
I'm not saying he's a runaway MVP candidate
I'm just happy for him that he's being mentioned alongside names like Mahomes

I don't think I'm quite there yet but he's playing smart football
