bank stuff (1 Viewer)

Do you really expect a bank to have that much cash on hand for your random whim to remove it all?  How does someone that dense accumulate that much cash in the first place?

Here is a hint, bank vaults do not look like the vaults in the movies.  There are no shelves lined with bricks of hundred and twenties waiting for some crew to come in a rob.  Here is OPs dream bank https://wishyouwerefree.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/bank-vault.jpg

I work inside a bank branch and while we would have been ABLE to accommodate your wish, we would not have done it.  We get shipments once per week of cash and that money is there for everyone, not just the one tool who did not call ahead.  Better to have one annoyed customer, or ex customer then annoy all of the rest of our customers.

Your best option would have been going to multiple branches and getting as much from each one as they would allow, if your massive drug deal depended on getting all that money in cash at that moment.

What would be funnier is if the bank gave him the cash and the police took it from him in civil forfeiture for some rolling stop sign infraction.

I work for a bank and I know 10 reasons why banks sometimes don't allow large cash withdrawals..........#3 will shock you!!!

Here's how it works:

Banks (branches) receive cash about 2x per week. They try to keep an even balance in the vault (i.e. not too much, not too little) based on their projected cash-based needs. A bank will probably have more cash on hand on the 1st and 15th of the month, and around holidays or when tax refunds are issued. While the bank needs to keep enough cash on hand for upticks in expected transactions, they absolutely do not plan for six figure withdrawals on a random Thursday in July. Had you contacted the bank in advance, they would have had to order that cash from the nearest Federal Reserve Bank, and even that would have taken a day or more.

Just FYI
Plus you didn't even touch on the Bank Secrecy Act regulations, he should expect to spend a nice long while filling out paperwork for the IRS on why you need that much cash.

That's on the bank staff, not the customer.

Sound to me like someone responded to a "Make some quick cash" instagram post, got their instructions from the "guy just looking to help them out," and the bank, not being total idiots, didn't let him pull the money quickly like the scammer said they would. And now he's out a few grand. And he's mad about it.

Write yourself out a check for $10,000 each day for 10 days.  Simple, all you have to do is plan ahead.

Or wire it to my Bitcoin account and I'll get it for you.

You miss the point of this. The bank will not cash the 10k checks for him daily. They need advanced notice to give all their money out so they have more for the rest of the people who come in.

Hiding money this late isn't going to work.  But I guess there's always cocaine and hookers...

Back when I was in the banking industry, we did allow big withdrawals like this but our entire cash on hand was only like $300,000.

We have to order the cash to give to you, otherwise our vault could be short for other customers the remainder of the week. One customer's money is not worth more than others.

With that said, they didn't tell you why because they don't want to disclose to anyone when the armored car comes or indicate to anyone in earshot that, that big of an amount is being exchanged.

Request a sit down with the bank manager to make this right.

so can I get  cashiers check and then cash it if i wait on line again?
Oh geez. I would think this kind of crap was fishing if I didn't have to deal with morons like this over the years.

There is not an infinite supply of cash held at banks. Most banks these days have prob around $30k total in the whole branch unless they order more in for a customer request.

Don't be an ###.

Not sure where to put this...but #### Chase bank.  $8 to go in and get a cashier's/certified check??

  we charge 10 here. Unless you are a fbg and then you are in the premier account and you get it for free.

What does your company give for free to its customers?

who said I wanted it for free?  It was $3 7 or 8 years ago and only $5 2 years ago.

Not a fan of Chase but pretty much all banks of all sizes charge a fee for that unless you have a certain type of account or relationship with them. Many credit unions do as well.
