Baseball Wagering (2 Viewers)

San Francisco Giants/Washington Nationals 26-July-2006 4:05 PM PST Total Points OVER 9.5 for Game +111 N. Lowry must start P. Astacio must start

I have been ice cold the past week. I mean, when I play a two-team parlay, I lose BOTH games. If I play a three teamer, I go 0-3. If I play a straight bet, well, let's just say my team doesn't score a run.

Today I've got two parlay's going.....I'll post them both so you can fade the hell out of them

NYM -1.5/Chi(A) -1.5

Both teams cold. Both teams at home. Both teams win to salvage a little something.

LAA -1.5/Cle-Det o9/Mil

Basically with the Dodgers and Brewers, I'm betting against the two worst teams in the league. Cle-Det have both been pounding the ball recently, and even with Sabathia/Verlander going, I see a close one which the bullpens will let up some additional runs.

Also like Cincy tonight........we'll see how much I lose this aftenoon first.

g'luck
This is seriously becoming comical. 3-teamer is already done with.

2-teamer has about a snowball's chance in hell of happening.

I'm considering just blindly following someone's plays from her until football season before I piss my account away.

God I'm ready for football season.
football > baseball
Baseball > Football. If you have the time and work ethic, IMO it's not even close. Gimme 15 baseball games a DAY rather than 15 NFL games in one week. I know there's tons of college, but I think baseball presents better opportunities. The thing is that baseball is too much of a grind for people and hard to follow day in and day out. I mean it was obvious today in the Cleveland/Detroit game. I saw Cleveland +100 and Detroit +103 lying out there in the market. When do you get this opportunity in football? Heck, I also played Cubs Under 9 +105 and Over 9 +100.

Don't get me wrong I love football, but I think baseball presents great betting opportunity for bettors that work hard and check lines a lot. I am ready for football though.

I bet the Minnesota/Chicago over (10.5). Looks like I'll win in a close one if no more runs are scored.
This is extremely confusing
The combined score is 11, no? So I will win the over by 1/2 run if the game finishes without another run. I meant to say that it looks to be a win by a close margin.

Oh  - I've never heard anyone put it this way before.

Don't forget that I only started betting baseball last year ;)

I thought you said earlier that you would look to play AGAINST Detroit the rest of the season ;)

The free $3 was too much to overlook.

Not sure why you think it's just a free $3? Maybe $1000 to win $1000 with Cleveland and $1000 to win $1030 with Detroit. That's a free $30 for you high rollers. There were probably better lines out there than +100 and +103, but that's what I saw. That's easy free money there, no work needed. There's free money sitting out there everyday in baseball. Some days more than others.

Guru: stick to the 2-team RL parlays, they seem to be doing quite well...

Charv: I will be looking to short Detroit, but mostly as larger favorites. I leaned Cleveland today, but didn't play it.

why would you do that? I mean lean against Detroit? Don't you like the way they are playing? Do you think they will lose more from this point forward as big chalk?

They are playing great. They have the most wins in baseball and are 31-9 in their last 40 games. I'm not looking at how they have played so far this year, I'm looking into the future here. They are hot. But, I like playing against good teams and I like playing bad teams. Detroit really can't play much better than they have been playing. Will they play .500 ball from here on out? No, probably better. But, they will be lined as large favorites down the stretch and I will get much better value fading them. The optimal play is when they are at home as a large chalk. Just like when the Royals were a "triple A" team and everyone wanted to fade them. They were pitiful. But could they play any worse? No, they were only getting better. Fast forward a few months - the Royals are the favorite tonight. Who would have thought?

so, basically you are saying fade the winning teams in spots, and play the losing teams when they win. anyway, if that's your game, good luck with that. I prefer to put my money on good teams with good matchups, but that's just me.

"Play the losing teams when they win" Well I don't know when they are going to win, but I do like to play teams that nobody wants (like KC a few months ago).I like to play bad teams, but you know it's all relative to price, espeiclaly in bases. If I saw Detroit +110 today I'd play them. If I saw Cleveland +110, I'd play them. It basically ALL depends on price to me.

I'm not going to go out of the way to fade Detroit in the upcoming weeks. If I see a nice price going against them when they are at home, then I'll certainly play them. If the market price is Detroit -180 and I have a book that is still sitting at Detroit -165, then no doubt I'll play Detroit.

I look to get good numbers on bad teams. End of story.

When you like to play "good teams" with good matchups what do you mean? Teams like Boston/Detroit/Chi Sox at small chalk? As a dog?

Just what it sounds like. Good teams that will win! Here's the big difference in the way we look at gambling. I am not looking to win 40 bucks here and there going 4-3 on any given day. I don't mind paying -200 or -300. Heck I have gone way higher then that. I also like to play the alternate runline, at +2.5 on the favorite if any of my books will let me. I doubt anybody would be interested to follow along on those plays though. If I can buy down a 7 run total to 5 I will...

Justin, I know you mean well, but I just couldn't shut up seeing that. It reminded me of all the people saying, "well the yankees have to turn it around, because it's the yankees" or "the Astros are a great second half team, just look at the last two years"...

ETA: I am talking baseball here, just to clarify before the followup questions about Hockey or Football ;)
