Bathroom remodel (1 Viewer)

Just took a shower and realised there is another thing to consider. You may want to put a couple of grab bars in the shower. It's easier to install them up front. They are very useful, and not just for old folks. Should you get injured or have a guest who needs them, you are covered.
Place blocking in wall where they're going to go in the future ftw.
But then you have to damage the tiles to add them.
And not have to live with grab bars until you need them
Also there is minimal damage to said tiles. It’s a pretty easy install and just requires drill a few holes in the tile. Easy stuff
Exactly. As long as there's blocking in place for the bars
Toggle bolts if you don’t have the blocking in there

I'm not an engineer or anything close to it but no way would I trust toggle bolts in a wall to hold if a normal sized adult has to rely on that bar to keep from falling in a shower. By "normal sized" in my case you have to adjust for Wisconsin.

5/16” or 3/8” and all metal not the dumb plastic ones would be fine but I get it

A quality toggle bolt can hold like 200 lbs installed in 1/2" drywall. Grab bars have 2 or 3 fasteners per side. While they are spaced somewhat close together, I bet that a grab bar can easily hold 300+ lbs. of load before there's any damage. Each side would have to bust out a 6+" diameter hole through the drywall, waterproofing, and tile.
