BCS National Championship Thread: Florida St v. Auburn (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Screw that other thread we're starting a new one.

Hopefully I'm piss drunk happy tomorrow instead of piss drunk sad. I think I will be. Never rooted for a team this dominant before.

FDAS > hi.

Go Noles :towelwave:

WDE!

Venice Beach Boardwalk crowd today was around 2-1 or perhaps a bit less AU vs FSU. Couple of drunk cracked up homeless dudes seemed to be going for FSU.

Weather is spectacular out here.

Looking forward to this bloodbath.
Not trolling and at the risk of this getting bumped mercilessly if the Noles lose, but I think it's going to be a 51-17 type rout. I don't think Auburn is bad or anything but I'm not really worried about it. I would have rather faced OSU than them for sure, but damn happy it's not Bama, even after the other night.

I just don't see how their secondary and defense keeps up with FSU's wideouts, backs and O'Leary.

Not flaming, FDAS.

AU is not as terrible defensively as you're making them out to be. They rank 38th in points against, and the most they've given up all year is 42. Also, as you know, Auburn has the #1 ranked rushing offense in the country, so your D is gonna need to get off the field now and then in order to get anywhere near 51. Unless you think FSU will literally score on EVERY possession.

I know your rush D is awesome on paper, but they haven't seen what they're about to see.

They saw a Heisman finalist. They have nfl players everywhere.

Auburn's secondary sucks. Their Dline is very talented. Didn't Mizzou just put 42 on them last time out? I'll be flat out shocked if Jameis doesn't match that.

How do you expect Auburn to cover FSU's trio of wideouts and O'Leary? Destiny? Blind luck?

It's not so much that I expect them to be covered consistently, but I think Auburn dominates time of possession, which will limit Winston's opportunities.

Auburn gave up 38 to a 5-loss uga team at home. Need a miracle to win. I like uga more than most this year but they still lost 5.

40+ to a Alabama team who just got dumptrucked by a mediocre OU squad.

Gave up 35 to an LSU team that lost 3 games and is nowhere near as good as FSU.

Line started at 8.5 and is now up to 10.5 despite public being on AU.

Anything can happen in a one-off and I will hang my head in sadness and shame if the Noles lose, but I'd be pretty damn surprised.

Most teams have own TOP against the Noles this year. Syracuse had the ball for 42 fn minutes.*

*not comparing SU to AU, just saying they score quick.

I have quite a bit of faith in Gus with a month to prepare.
This "give [random coach] [some time period] to prepare" thing needs to go away.
It's very true with Gus though. He's a mad scientist.
WTF are you talking about? Malzahn has won exactly zero bowl games as a HC.
Which part of what I wrote is contradictory to what you wrote?
Every. Single. Word.

I have two tix i cant use fsu side if anyone needs them....will sell below face value for a fbg person...

This isn't meant to disparage FSU, but there's no other way to say it. They have faced two Top-50 rushing offenses this season. How can you even take the ranking of their rush defense seriously?

Because they have top-level talent everywhere on the front seven?

They've also beaten everybody by a 1000 points. Who is even trying to run the ball on them?

Okay. :loco: He's also LOST exactly zero bowl games as a HC.

He's a brilliant mind. With a lot of extra time to prepare. That can only be a good thing for Auburn.

Lots of teams outside of the Top-50 rushing offenses?

Interest in this one is pretty low. There isn't even a swimsuit model on the sideline and hot mom to wait on.

FSU by 40+.

Is it OK for me to root for Auburn even though I hate the SEC-SEC-SEC stuff?

It's more of an underdog thing to me.

Not only is it OK, it's encouraged.

I would like to place a large bet with you on Auburn +40

I just want a really good game. It's been a while. Most of these are not competitive. Last year was awful: you knew within 5 minutes that Notre Dame was hopelessly outclassed.

I want a close hard fought game in which both teams play well, featuring some spectacular plays, and not decided until the last minute. I want Texas vs USC from 2005.

GO NOLES!!!

On paper the Noles should dominate and easily take this. The only thing I am worried about is this Auburn team has had some miracles, and have been incredibly lucky this year.

According to the ESPN guy I heard last night, Auburn is superior at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and will be more physical. I have no idea how true this assertion was, but if it is true then Fla State does not dominate on paper.

No. FSU's offensive line is probably the best in the country. They have a first round pick at LT and the best center in the game. Auburn's Oline v. FSU's Dline is a good matchup. I'd say that's even at least.

Edit: AU has a great Dline too but there is no superior factor there.

If LT Greg Robinson from Auburn comes out next year he might be # 1 pick overall - he is a third year soph so he could opt to go in this draft and everyone says he is a 1st rounder - just may not go #1. Reese Dismukes is an All-SEC center for Auburn - so if anything my guess is the lines are a wash.

AU Defensive line rotates a lot of players and that is why you don't hear a bunch of names - but Dee Ford is pretty good as is freshman Montravious Adams - at end of games they do stay fresh because of the rotation.

Usually the homeless will appeal to whoever they think they can get the most out of. What a weird place VB is.

The defensive line rotation is going to be a big key. I think Auburn keeps it close and the fresh d-line at the end could force a sack or get pressure to force a turnover and give them a chance to win at the end. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I could see this game going a lot of different ways. I do think both teams will score in the 30s.
