BCS National Championship Thread: Florida St v. Auburn (1 Viewer)

Mizzou RB Henry Josey declared for the NFL draft today.

Was surprised at first, and he almost assuredly will be a day 3 pick. But, as a RB nowadays, you do need to get while the gettin's good and given his major knee injury, I don't blame him for wanting to cash in instead of risking catastrophic injury before he makes it to the pros.

Tough kid, good kid, and I hope like hell that he succeeds in the NFL. This is a guy worth rooting for.

All hail fsu who saved us from the tyrannical reign of the sec.

Any news if auburn is making itself runner up rings?
It wouldn't surprise me in the least. They will want to make sure people remember that they played in the game.

James Wilder went pro. Not even sure he was the 3rd best back on the roster. I don't think he gets drafted.
Guy will undoubtedly be drafted. He's fast and he's a tank, that's more than enough to get drafted. He's a pretty good 1 cut runner too. I agree with Quez, he could easily be a better pro than college player. Hard to really fault the guy for losing out on carries to 2 other future NFL backs in Freeman and Karlos Williams.

Can't be worse than Mark Ingram IMO

So last night my wife and a pair of friends went to a local sports bar for an FSU party. Really nice place. Good food. Not a hooters type.

We get there, get our table and settle in. It's 95% FSU fans with 3% UF fans there looking to troll the FSU people and 2% Auburn fans.

Who of course get seated next to me. 4 SUPER WASP-Y people. The one broad was wearing a Harvard shirt and was definitely there just so she could get out of giving her boyfriend head for a month. Apple-tinis were ordered and they proceeded to do their half-assed Auburn chants.

This enraged me greatly for some reason, especially when the Noles got behind 21-3. They didn't do anything wrong at all, but their giggling, apple-tinis and half-assed approach to it all just ate at me. At some point the refs missed an obvious hands to the face and I became unhinged.

 GOD DAMMIT THROW THE MOTHER####ING FLAG. YOU ####### ####SUCKERS WOULD CALL THAT #### ON US!!!!!

Then I let out a bloodcurdling "I MEAN FUUUUUUUUUUCK" that could be heard 30 tables away.

I think the Harvard chick was aroused that a man could have such a visceral reaction to a moment. My wife or course was mortified because she knows I should be locked in a padded room during these games.

I don't regret it though. I'm almost 36 years old, have a great job, a wife and home that I love and I'm still capable of acting like an impulsive teenager.

You either care about this stuff or you don't.

Fantastic game on a perfect day in an electric atmosphere at the best venue in college football.

I thought AU fans outnumbered FSU at the game (definitely around town), but the FSU fans were louder. The war chant is the best way I've seen to unify your noise.

I was at the AU hotel, and saw a lot of stunned looks...but the Nole fans were gracious and complimentary that I saw.

Finally, congrats Cap!!

Also have lots of Clemson fans trolling USC fans for being first to win a BCS bowl and all that garbage too. That's specific to the two schools though so not quite as annoying.
Clemson fans have internalized the TimLogic that head to head games don't mean anything. :lmao:
Only 8 more head to head games with USC this season and Clemson would finally have a winning record against them.

Karlos kept up with Kermit on that return. That guy getting the entire offseason with focus at rb-yes please.

What an experience.

Yeah ballparking it I'd say about 70/30. Of course hard to say because you get a lot of the crowd her are just kind of sponsor invitees or something that might root for one or the other but no extreme interest.

 Doesn't Clemson lead the rivalry by a substantial margin? Thought it was like 65-40 or some such. Or is this a nod to the Tim logic on display in this thread? :bag: if it's the latter.

You're reaching trying to say the ACC Honks are out today. I'd say the anti-SEC schtick honks are out today.
I didn't say anything about ACC Honks....perhaps you should hit reset and reread before you go any further??
 You should try a new hobby besides fishing. Today wasn't even a good try.
Yeah...that's not fishing. It's simply agreeing with something slapdash said. You must have gone back and reread, so I give you credit for that this time around  The conversation we were having had nothing to do with "ACC Honks".

Early playoff guesses next year?

Florida State

Ohio State

Stanford

Florida

I actually think Muschamp turns around UF if they can keep an offense healthy. Tough schedule with Bama and FSU on the road, but they catch Bama somewhat early with a new QB being broken in. Georgia, USC AND LSU are at the swamp.

Their defense should be flat out nasty. I think they can replicate 2012.

And no idea who that QB will be as of yet. Will be a run-heavy season like 2011.

If it's Jacob Coker, I am subbing you guys back in for UF. I would be scared of that.

Hey, I'm the one that posted "ACC Honks" and it was ribbing at some of the things the Charlotte area folks were saying they were seeing locally or among their friends. But, I've seen on my FB and heard on local radio, plenty of ACC chest thumping since the game ended.

I know plenty of Clemson fans and I would say it's 50/50 on who they were pulling for. Half hate FSU and could never pull for them, the other half were pulling for FSU because ..... they are in the ACC! :o

Since Florida vs FSU happens at the end of the season - do you think it's possible to make the 4 teams with a late season loss? I am wondering how that will affect the selections in the committee deliberations - it seems that is when you get that drop that has you on the outside looking in - and especially if the Big 12 goes without a playoff an OU could sneak in.

Oregon will be good with Mariotta back, and Auburn will be good again.
As an Auburn fan - even years are always tough

Here is the schedule in the last 6 game - pretty rough stuff - in Athens and Tuscalooser

Oct. 25 SOUTH CAROLINA AUBURN

Nov. 1 at Ole Miss Oxford, MS

Nov. 8 TEXAS A&M AUBURN

Nov. 15 at Georgia Athens, GA

Nov. 22 SAMFORD AUBURN

Nov. 29 at Alabama Tuscaloosa, AL

It's quickly getting to the point where I'll have to put everyone who even responds to Commish on my ignore list just to make these threads readable again.

Dont count Sparty out, Cook could be even better as JR next year

they get Nebraska, Michigan & OSU at home

Big road tests are At Oregon and At Penn state, at Maryalnd(??)

I hope you're right that Florida improves but I'm beginning to have my doubts. FSU and OSU are high up on my list given their talent and schedule. I agree it will be a Pac 12 team and SEC team. Stanford or Oregon would be my guess and it's hard to go against Alabama from the SEC.

That's what made the 2010 team to me, and even 2004 so much better than this past year's team. I'm not happy they lost but let's face it, the UGA game should have been a loss. They collapsed after being way ahead and should have lost.

Plenty of chances to put that game away and/or make plays to win on Monday night and they simply didn't execute. What surprised me most was it was special teams and specifically Parkey that let AU down. He was kicking off through the endzone all year and just wasn't getting distance Monday night. The previous kickoff the FSU returner nearly broke free. You could kind of feel it coming. Obviously the short FG miss was atypical for him as well. Given that, that's why I was surprised on the 3rd and 4 from the 6 when they did the play action pass. I was thinking run it twice up 21-20. You either get the TD or you pin FSU deep knowing that given what you had seen from Parkey that night FSU would at least be at the 25-30 to start the next drive. I didn't think the FG to make it 24-20 was worth that, go for the 7 with two rushing plays and at worst you pin them deep. Once the pass was incomplete and you were left with 4th and 4 you had to kick the FG. But even a 2 yard run on 3rd down to get to the 4 would have allowed them to go for it.

I'm sure the FFA would get a kick out of these "cheering for all the teams in SC" folks that have been responding to you on Facebook....

UF doesn't have a good enough QB to get them to the playoffs

James Wilder went pro. Not even sure he was the 3rd best back on the roster. I don't think he gets drafted.

I love wilder and freeman as college RBs but I do think they are NFL RBs. I see them as backups and special teams players in the NFL

I am excited about Williams in 2014

Benjamin going pro. was hoping he would come back. he made the right decision. cant get any better the catching the game winning TD

After having time to digest the game and season more, we all agree now that the BCS got it right again and had the two best teams in the country in the national championship game?
