Beanie Wells... (1 Viewer)

So Wells is active, practiced late in the week and claims "his knee feels better than any time since September." He's been an unmitigated disaster this year, but sometimes injuries and other circumstances force you to scrape the bottom of the barrel, and I may have to consider starting him this week. While his upcoming schedule looks good down the road, this week doesn't look to great for Wells. They are on the road at Kansas City, with the very real possibility they get buried earlier and Wells is a non-factor.

I don't want to mention the other weak options I have to avoid turning this into a WDIS, but does anyone out there think there's an outside shot for Wells to at least be mediocre this week?

Right now he's on my bench, as I'd like to see him produce first.

I can't believe I picked this turd over Bradshaw against my will. All because I heard Laurinitus say he was the best RB that he has faced.

keep on bench until further notice. If he comes back strong, then play him, but there's no way I would trot him out right now.

Wells looked really good in the limited carries he got. Showing his power on some plays.. they were working him in slowley and then had to abandon the running game . he ran for 5 yards a carry. ( so did Hightower). Thing you take out of this is that he looked healthy and barring any flair up of the knee injury he might be usefull considering there schedule upcoming. SF-STL-Den-Car.

what was once a promising season has been completely derailed by injuries and the dreaded rbbc. Oh yeah the team is the ####s to boot.

I thought Beanie looked good last week. The problem is once the game gets away from the Cardinals he falls out of favor because Hightower is the option in the passing game. If the Cardinals could keep a game close, Beanie could get 15+ carries. Whether he does anything with them is the question but if he's healthy he isn't lacking for talent. If the 49ers of last week show up, Beanie could be a viable RB3 Monday night. But who knows which 49ers team is going to show up at this point.

The problem with starting him is you have to wait until Monday night. He suffers anysetback or anything during monday warmups etc and your screwed, I like Wells going forward as a rb2/flex if hes healthy but its risky this week. If he is healthy and the starter his fantasy playoff schedule is nice with Den-Car-Dallas.

It seems like Beanie has been able to stay healthy, and the only play from this week I saw was a nice 16 yarder where he showed good burst and drug a tackler for a few yards. Is anyone holding out hope for him like me? The schedule is pretty cupcake to end the season.

Beanie Wells blew a blitz pickup in Sunday's loss to the Rams that may have cost him playing time.Wells rushed just three times even though the Cardinals were within striking distance for the entire game. The talented power back can't seem to get out of his own way, fumbling an exchange last week and now missing blocks. Wells no longer appears close to taking snaps away from Tim Hightower.Source: Arizona Republic don't hold your breath.

Despite knowing that he was a lesser athlete in an inferior (last year) situation, I drafted Moreno over Wells in a dynasty rookie draft precisely because of how fragile and frankly soft I felt (and still feel) Wells is and I haven't looked back. We talk about how RB's need to be fast, strong, etc., but they first need to be available to play.

A couple of weeks ago I would have agreed, but at this point he IS healthy and available to play. He made a remark last week to the tune that at this point it was the healthiest he had been all season. Also, Hightower has made mistakes that put him in the doghouse and he has re-emerged. In fact, only a few weeks ago Beanie was named the starter due to Tim's miscues on the field. I'm probably more optimistic than most, but would some people consider dropping him in 12+ team leagues?

FACTS

-He's injury-prone.

-There are two competent backs in Arizona. One which can pass-block; one that can't.

-He's talented.

-Arizona's O-line is trash; their offense is just awful.

What does this mean?

Arizona's offense is completely pathetic this year. They can't pass the ball so teams just stack 8-in-the-box all game long. Their O-line is not good enough to compensate; in-fact they're jut plain awful. Because this O-line is so bad:

1.) They need the more competent pass-blocking back in the backfield for the majority of the snaps.

2.) They need the back whom has been more healthy in the backfield.

Wells is the more talented back but Hightower has been producing better this season. My recommendation would be:

REDRAFT: Drop him. Forget about him. He's the lesser part of a RBBC on a team with an awful Offense and Defense.

DYNASTY: Buy-low; buy-low; buy-low. His value has literally hit rock-bottom.

Look for AZ to acquire a QB this off-season and add to the trenches.

He'll be a steal for next year.
