(Disclaimer: I realize that every team has good fans and fans that are idiots, including my Seahawks.)
Bears and Packers fans, I'm looking at you. You have (probably) the most storied rival in NFL history. Your teams are both good and have a legendary history with multiple NFL titles on both sides. Unlike some other rivalries (Jets-Patriots, Ravens-Steelers), your on-field rivalry does not seem as bitter as those. I hear and read the words "respect" coming from players on both sides. Your teams aren't engaging in a scrum after every single play (PIT-BAL) and aren't trash talking all week and accusing each other of cheating the for the last 3-4 yeras. (NYJ-NE) For example, after GB beat ATL, Jay Cutler send Aaron Rogers a congratulatory text message.
@ CHI:
If you win, you shouldn't be like "I told you so!" Yes, your team is the most disprespected team in the NFL. Yes, even if you win, you will have people say that you don't deserve to be in the SB (just like 2006). Deal with it. Say nothing, don't rub it in, and act like your team is SUPPOSED to be there.
If you lose, you have no complaints. Ignore that people said your team was bad. It's not. You won the division and 12 games. You were "supposed" to win 6 and watch MIN and GB go to the playoffs.
@GB
If you win, be the better fan and don't rub it in. Your team is favored, and picked by many. You have a great young team and (arguably) the best young QB in the NFL. You also have a very deep team, which is a blessing.
If you lose, no complaining about the unlucky injuries you've had and how "lucky" chicago is. EVERY team has injuries, (just ask New Orleans's running backs.....) so it happens. There will be a year come around where your team is healthy, and someone else's is banged up. It's the NFL, it happens.
To both of you, what I am basically trying to say is, be the "better fan". Be respectful, Go kick back, relax, grab your favorite beverage, your good friends, and enjoy the game. Don't turn your thread into a blatent, time-wasting, trash talking thread. Try to talk football, be knowledgeable, and RESPECT YOUR OPPONET. Whatever negative thing you are getting ready to write, think about how YOU would like it if someone said that about YOUR team.
It will be a hard fought, probalby well-played, close game, NOT 55-0 like some people are prediciting. I'd be stunned if it's more than a 10 point game. Good luck to both teams, and I'll be enjoying watching the game as a nuetral observer.
