Bears and Packer fans, can you be respectful to each other? (1 Viewer)

(Disclaimer: I realize that every team has good fans and fans that are idiots, including my Seahawks.)

Bears and Packers fans, I'm looking at you. You have (probably) the most storied rival in NFL history. Your teams are both good and have a legendary history with multiple NFL titles on both sides. Unlike some other rivalries (Jets-Patriots, Ravens-Steelers), your on-field rivalry does not seem as bitter as those. I hear and read the words "respect" coming from players on both sides. Your teams aren't engaging in a scrum after every single play (PIT-BAL) and aren't trash talking all week and accusing each other of cheating the for the last 3-4 yeras. (NYJ-NE) For example, after GB beat ATL, Jay Cutler send Aaron Rogers a congratulatory text message.

@ CHI:

If you win, you shouldn't be like "I told you so!" Yes, your team is the most disprespected team in the NFL. Yes, even if you win, you will have people say that you don't deserve to be in the SB (just like 2006). Deal with it. Say nothing, don't rub it in, and act like your team is SUPPOSED to be there.

If you lose, you have no complaints. Ignore that people said your team was bad. It's not. You won the division and 12 games. You were "supposed" to win 6 and watch MIN and GB go to the playoffs.

@GB

If you win, be the better fan and don't rub it in. Your team is favored, and picked by many. You have a great young team and (arguably) the best young QB in the NFL. You also have a very deep team, which is a blessing.

If you lose, no complaining about the unlucky injuries you've had and how "lucky" chicago is. EVERY team has injuries, (just ask New Orleans's running backs.....) so it happens. There will be a year come around where your team is healthy, and someone else's is banged up. It's the NFL, it happens.

To both of you, what I am basically trying to say is, be the "better fan". Be respectful, Go kick back, relax, grab your favorite beverage, your good friends, and enjoy the game. Don't turn your thread into a blatent, time-wasting, trash talking thread. Try to talk football, be knowledgeable, and RESPECT YOUR OPPONET. Whatever negative thing you are getting ready to write, think about how YOU would like it if someone said that about YOUR team.

It will be a hard fought, probalby well-played, close game, NOT 55-0 like some people are prediciting. I'd be stunned if it's more than a 10 point game. Good luck to both teams, and I'll be enjoying watching the game as a nuetral observer.

How cute...
?????Not trying to be cute. Not trying to insult anyone or make any mad. I'm just trying to get people to slow down and think before they post something dumb. Maybe we'll get some good football information posted first instead of people just flaming each other.

Why? What's so wrong me trying to get people to think first? You'd rather sit around and just bash each other all day illogically?

You know what's terrible? That Seahawks team. How did that abysmal craphole of a team make the playoffs anyway?

LOL, bashing my Seahawks does nothing to upset or offend me. Nice try. If you like, I'll sit around with you and tell you the strengths and weaknesses of that team. (I'll be spending a lot more time on the "weaknesses" part.)

To answer your question, the winner of each 4-team division gets in the playoffs, no matter what the record is. Is Sea better than NYG or TB? No, definately not, but they got in because of the way the rules are.

What's wrong? It presumes that you expect packer & bears fans to gloat when they win. Sorry, but the vast majority of fans in here don't do that after a victory.....I have seen minimal (if any) evidence that either team's fans do that here. Now, if you want to check out Vikings threads, that's a different story.

 Any gloating would be from a few fans that are not even Bears fans if they win...the same ones that show up in every Packer game thread cheering for the opposition. For the Packers fans...I don't see many that would gloat. We understand this is a tough rivalry...it gets heated in pregame...but after the game, in the end, these fans bases respect the other team.

Exactly. IF we get a win, I'll be so ecstatic for a Super Bowl that it won't even cross my mind to gloat. And if we lose.......I probably won't visit FBGs for at least a couple days. ;)

This feels like one of those ideas they try deploying in youth leagues where they play the game and don't keep score. Let's not have anyone feel bad. Maybe they can just shut off the scoreboard for this game and send both teams to the superbowl?

Here is to hoping you will be visiting right away. ;)

Rose colored glasses.

I would congratulate GB on a well played game, and thank my Bears for a wonderful season. I like to pride myself on being the bigger man.

Yes, thats why I also said it would be from people who are not even Bears fans too right?

 to all of the above.

Umm...actually....I plan to gloat. I plan to gloat hardcore.

And if the bears lose...well, I'll use the analogy of when I leave my dog at home when I go to work.

IT'S THE END OF THE WOOOORRLLLLLLDDD......

I'd gloat, but not here or online. I have some very close Bears fan/friends who have been giving me grief since they won the division (as expected). If the Pack win, I plan on putting the "after further review..." signs on their cubicles or servers. But unlike the internet bullies, we know deep down, we respect both teams, and even the smack throughout the year.

It's the same for my FF leagues. We talk crap all year long, but in the end we give congrats to the winner and the always "Wait til next year".
