anybody hear anything on hillenmeyer and his return? i heard from chicagobears.com that he might be back this week. also, if he comes back he might be plugged into the middle and roach put at strong side, which would mean a possible replacement for him on my roster. thanks

i was looking into this yesterday actually. i couldn't come up with anything.

i suspect that they are pretty pleased with roach thusfar. the comments from coaches et al has been encouraging. i think hillenmeyer will not supplant roach at MLB. roach didn't slide over for pisa, so why would they make the change for hunter? jamar williams will hold down the fort until hunter is ready to return.

:thumbup:Jamar Williams is the key piece here. Lovie Smith said this week that he was happy with the guys they currently had. Presumably, that means that Williams-Roach has the edge over Roach-Hillenmeyer today. Still uncertain that'll stick, but Roach has too much upside to ignore until we know for sure.

i think roach has long-term potential for the bears too. he won't keep the MLB spot next year when urlacher returns but pisa's on a 1-year deal, i think. he'd give the LB corps some youth and athleticism too.

In todays Chicago Tribune, Vaugn McClure writes that Lovie "Smith said Roach has played well enough to keep his spot at middle linebacker."

In this article he says Williams, or possibly Hillenmeyer, could start at strong side LB.

I'm not sure Hillenmeyer is healthy enough to play yet though.
