Bears coverage (1 Viewer)

I am just ridiculing the morons who bash QBs after 16 games of starting experience. All through the offseason some of us have claimed that we expect Grossman to be even better than last year based off the additional weapons he has this year - Wolfe, Hester, Olsen, Bradley fully healthy..... now the writers are saying the same thing

But they can continue to draft Mcnair, Trent Green, Alex Smith, Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler etc before Grossman. Grossman will be a steal at QB if his ADP continues to be right before Tavaris Jackson, Jamarcus Russell and Frye/Brady Quinn

How many games does he have to play before he is allowed to be criticized?I'd hope he gets better, he has shown he has talent. He just needs to stop having those god awful games. You cannot hope to be a top flight QB when along with your 3-4 great games you put up 3-4 of the worst games of the season by any QB. If he can stay healyhy again and find some consistency he should improve. If he fails to find the consistency he may have to find the bench. Factor that in with the unknowns about Benson being their only legit RB, and the fact that Hester could be a great weapon, but until we see him play WR effectively IN A GAME that's hard to judge, and it looks like there are reasons to question Grossman.

:lmao: There are reasons to question him. That's why he presents incredible value this year. Of course he could end up a mediocre 23 tds and 20 interceptions like last year, but I think he is fully capable of exploding for upper 20s touchdowns and less INTs.

I do not disagreeWhat I disagree with is the sarcastic manner in which it was suggested that it was unfair to question his performance last year. He will not be a successful NFL QB as long as he keeps having 4 games with passer ratings of under 30. He looks great at times but looks as bad as anyone others, he needs to control that. Until he does he's a high risk QB, because he can throw terrible games at you when you star him, and there's always the chance the bears yank him (though i don't think that's a great chance).

I would not be surprised to see him turn the corner, but I don't want that much of a roler coaster for my starting QB

I am a HUGE bears homer and I have to agree with this. Grossman needs to improve a lot this season for anyone to be able to start him with confidence. It's good to see him getting some good press, but he still has a lot to prove. His decision making was abysmal at times last year. Grossman has the skills, if not the height, to be a really good QB, but until he learns some disciprine when making his decisions (ie throwing 60 yards down field into triple coverage) he will continue to be a boom/bust start.

Found this very interesting:

Monday's practice had Benson lining up split wide and catching a number of passes out of the backfield.

 but if he can even the ship out a bit, he could blossom into a nice fantasy QB

I'd be satisfied with a good NFL QB, but the way he plays, he's either going to be both or neither.

What's funny is when guppies talk about how Benson is going to be facing 8-man fronts because of Grossman. Outside of the really top guys, I don't think there's a better deep threat in the league than Grossman. The best thing for him is that it's all mental, and having to go against Chicago's defense every practice has to make him better.

Ah Grossman. The Eternal Rookie. Actually he has started 23 regular season games plus 3 playoff games and a SB. Lets have a look at all the QBs with LESS experience who are currently ranked higher than Grossman:Vince YoungMatt LeinartTony RomoPhillip RiversJay CutlerJP LosmanAlex SmithMatt SchaubJason CampbellBut hey, how much can you expect from a young QB right?Personally i think he's ranked pretty low, but Grossman is one of those players that 11 guys have ranked around #20 and the last guy takes at #6.
