Bears D (1 Viewer)

We are only allowed 2 DEF's. I am not being reactionary I am 3-0, but I am thinking of dropping the Bears outright. They are bangged up BIG TIME, their schedule is NOT favorable, and they can be thrown on. Am I crazy???? What are your guys opinions of the Bears D going forward? Thanks.

They're a #2 defense now. Unless you get ST scoring too, I wouldn't hesistate in dropping them. Someone will pick them up based on name value, but let them deal with them.

I actually think we had one of the league's easiest schedule (going off last year's standings). Even then, I'd be surprised if we went anything above .500.

As long as ST still counts, hold them. Hester was amazing vs. KC, should have scored 2, if not 3 TDs. They are still an attack oriented D, and Tillman/Vasher/Harris won't be out forever.

With their upcoming schedule who would you feel confident starting them against???? We do get ST TD's, but we can get minus points for points allowed and yards allowed.:4 @Det - - - - 5 @GB - - - - 6 Min - - - - 7 @Phi - - - - 8 Det - - - - 9 Bye - - - - 10 @Oak - - - - 11 @Sea - - - - 12 Den - - - - 13 NYG - - - - 14 @Was - - - - 15 @Min - - - - 16 GB - - - -

They can still rush the passer, which should help there secondary. Romo played a great game against them, he was mobile and accurate. Not all qbs will have that kind of success. They are banged up now, but Tommie Harris, Vasher and Briggs will soon be healthy and on the field at the same time. Once that happens, they are a top flight defense. Throw in Hester and they are a solid play. I have them and am not afraid to start them on a weekly basis.

Thanks....you are a braver man han I am (at this point). Next two weeks @ Det/Gb, both teams throw the ball big time, THEY WILL give up points/yards. Home VS Minn they might be a decent play. @ Philly, I'll look for a better matchup. Det at home might be good, but Kitna scares me, he can throW for 350+ any week, and will sure try. @ SEA & OAK they are favorable matchups except 2 weeks back to back travelling to the West coast. Then home to Dev/Giants 2 decent offenses, then back to back on the road again. MAYBE IT'S JUST ME, THEY AREN'T EXCITING ME TOO MUCH RIGHT NOW.My option is to pair Tenn with the Chargers, but I'm not sure how for real the Titans are. Their schedule is a good one.

Does anyone get the feeling that the Bears Defense was getting crushed by the Bears offenses. It looked like a lot of three and outs, putting the Def right back on the field. They looked good against Dallas in the first half. Although the cowboy got on a roll at the end of the second half they only got three points. But their Drives were long and wore out the Bear DEF. I remember watching Berrien drop a wide open pass that could have been a easy TD and thinking there goes the game.

If Griese can hold the offense on the field I think they will do a lot better.

lmao at thinking they're not worth starting. Overreact much?
No Harris (got zero pass rush last year after his injury), No Tillman, No Vasher, and possibly no Briggs this week. Not so far fetched. If Archuletta is on the field this week in any 4 WR set, toast.Benson has to control the clock for this team to have any chance right now. And I'm not ever putting my faith in Cedric.

No faith in Cedric here either but none of the injuries on defense were said to be very serious. We'll be fine. Are you sure Tillman, Vasher and Briggs are out this week?ETA: We still have some solid pass rushers on our line. Anderson, Brown, Oguleye. If Griese can provide a little more on offense, our defense will look much better. Plus our defense just looked bad in one half of one game this year. Any team can have a bad half after being on the field nonstop and losing 4 star players at the same time. Look at the other 2 1/2 games they played. They were fantastic. I'm not panicking at all with our defense.

Briggs is likely to play as of today.Vasher/Tillman/Harris are looking at multiple weeks from what I heard a couple days ago. Tommie is the most valuable player on the defense IMO. And if the Bears rush the passer like they did after Harris went down last year, it's probably not the best scenario for 2 backup corners (playing for Vasher/Tillman).

with all the bye weeks coming up, I would stash them on the Bench and wait to see how things play out. not sure i would drop them with det twice and minn in 3 of the next 5 weeks. plus with hester it is one of the few Def/ST can win for you a week on its own.

the real question is who do you pick up/trade over them. I ;oved this d out the gate, but the injuries are almost too much. I think it is time to sell before the bottom drops out. You cant have 5-6 starters out (many for WEEKS) and not feel the brunt of this.

Chicago's D will still perform better than average and at least having them keeps you from picking up new defenses every week or every other week hoping to find a diamond in the rough so to speak. I'm going to stick with them for a while and hope the injuries subside.Love the Lions handle. Reminded me of this.....not to hijack..

The two Lion games in the next few weeks should be fantastic plays for the Bears D!

Guys, the lions can throw the ball for 400 yds a game, we saw that this week.

We're talking a defense here. I'm not too worried about it. I picked up Tenn just in case CHI implodes, but I'll keep starting CHI until then. It's a defense. Relax.

I agree with this - lets all go out an drop Reggie Bush, LT, LJ, Breeze because they have had a rough start to the season. The Bears were drafted as your number 1 defense. They have had no offense, now with Griese in there - wait it out to see if it changes. Relax....

if u get a point per sack, they are a must start against the Lions this week
Almost a must start.Though, Im going with the Packers against Minny instead.Hell, I wish I could drop them.I will probably ride the Packers most of the year...Ive been trying to package the Bears D with some other guys for depth...also freeing up a roster spot...

As a Bears fan, I would seriously rather start the Detroit defense this week than the Bears defense in terms of Fantasy Football. The team is not the same without Tommie Harris. Take away the two starting corners against Martz's pass happy offense and frankly, there are few defensive teams I would rather not start than the Bears this week. That is not to say that I would drop them I just would not consider them close to a #1 option this week. And that is even with Special Teams. Hester is phenomenal, but I would never "count" on ST TD's. The yards the Bears will likely give up this week will not be pretty, in my estimation.

Dropping them is dumb but trading them is smart. You can probably still land a NE or SD defense for them, possibly BAL. If those don't pan out go after Minny. But I would definitely bench them this week if you have options. They are going to get torched.

The Bears ARE banged up, with an unfavorable schedule. NO ONES GIVING UP NE OR BAL FOR THEM.

A defense with 5 starters out and having an unfavorable schedule, is different than a postion starter off to a poor start. IMHO

They are a terrible start this weekend. I simply don't believe an NFL team can overcome injuries to important cogs like Briggs, Harris/Dvorcek/D.Walker/Ogunleye, Vasher/Tillman/M. Brown, etc...Jerry Angelo can find defensive talent, but this situation is a sad joke. You might be able to pawn them off on name recognition at this point, but don't expect much in return. Unless Lovie Smith proves he is some kind of defensive genius, this team/defense is dead in the water.

Judging from the number of posters on here that think they'll be fine, I bet you're wrong. Has anyone dealt them?

The schedule doesn't seem too unfavorable to me. It's not like Favre has never thrown a pick-6 before or other teams have Peyton's who never throw picks. And how did Philly sack Kitna 9 times last week? Are the Bears not capable of getting to Kitna with that offensive line and running woes? They might even get more aggressive now to see what happens.

Still, trading them is a good bet. I've gotten multiple signs of interest for them in a league where D's get 3pts for sacks and turnovers, plus special team td's.
