Beisbol Team Season Win Totals (1 Viewer)

Pretty sure I'm gonna take AZ for one, which is hard to do being a Dodger fan but whatever.Still undecided on any others...
AZ is young but they are loaded with talent and definitely worth a shot.
They are at 79 U-135 right now. Seems pretty decent.Yanks are down to 96 so I'm off it.Guess I could still do Tampa. I would think they have some value in an over...

g'luck if you do Arizona. I like them, but having them at near .500 in the NL west is going to be tough, imo. lots of questions in the bullpen, lots of your players in the field, second best pitcher will be 50 in July. My book actually has them at o78.5 (-125). I think the NL west is too unpredictable this year.

This Giants fan likes the Dodgers under 88 as well. I think their starting pitching is pretty overrated.
While I'm more optimistic than I've been going into a season in some time, at 88 wins, the Dodgers are overvalued. Can't say I'm surprised...

Hmm. I was about to suggest that you couldn't possibly bet the under on your team, but it might give you a perverse rooting interest. You could be happy when they win because your team won, and happy when they lose because you're that much closer to winning this bet. $50 would give you excellent insurance against Dodger-loss induced unhappiness.

Braves are right on 83 but I like there lineup and their pitching enough to think they will be in the race. Cincinnati has a lot of power and that divsion is really weak IMO. Houston will be down, St. Louis down, and the Reds will benefit the most. I like them to win this division in 2008 and 81 wins seems right.

Cleveland has really unproven pitching and they have scrubs at the corner infield and outfield positions. Call when Marte, Barfield, and Garko do something. They are playing in the best division in baseball and have three great players, a innings eater, and a bunch of junk. They are really overrated.

I think the Dodgers are going to win the National League.

Milwaukee has all the pieces and that division stinks. If they have Sheets healthy all year, the rest of their staff does what it's supposed to, and all those young bats come around I like this team to win the Central. 88 wins is possible and this is the lock of all the picks IMO.

Minnesota is just a solid baseball team who can win in any month but October. They have two of the best position players in baseball, the best pitcher in baseball, a great pen, and some very good role players. They should win close to 90.

Mets have no pitching and if Reyes or Wright has an injury, they are toast. This is an easy under IMO with a strong division.

Yankees should win 95 but they are kind of mentally challenged. I'm not saying they will fall apart but I think they'll be looking up at the Sux most of the year. Yankees are closer to 90 than 97 IMO.

Mariners are a team I really like. They have a bunch of hitters and should fare well on the road. If they can get enough pitching on the road and use that big ballpark to their advantage I think they will actually be the surprise team in the AL.

BRONG would sur love it if flaWed and the good doctor would give reasoning behind their conviction.
1. Hardy and Weeks return and if they stay healthy that will be a good start to winning more than 81 games.2. Sheets is back and poised to have a big year.3. The continued development of Fielder and Hart given the chance to play everyday.4. Johnny Estrada is a nice upgrade on offense.5. An above average rotation of Sheets, Capuano, Suppan and Bush. I think Carlos Villanueva will emerge this year and they have a great youngster in Gallardo ready for a callup.6. An upgrade in closer with Francisco Cordero7. Bill Hall8. Ryan Braun is a monster hitter in waiting with a brick for a glove. If he can can come around on his defense he will be a major upgrade for the offense because 3B is a weakspot until then. I doubt Corey Koskie plays again.

Wow, check this out. I missed my total bets as I tied one on yesterday/last night and didn't get up in time.

Anyway, I call my guy to see if I can get that D-back over anyway (they were down 6 - 5 at the time). He's cookin' crawfish and can't talk. By the time he calls back, D-backs are up 8 - 6 and I tell him as such. Guy doesn't give a #### whatsoever. Asks me what the line is, I tell him 79 last I looked, that it was at 78.5 at one time, but who knows where it ended. He gives me 78.5 without thinking twice, ALONG WITH A 10 CENT LINE! Mind you, their website had totals at 30 cents.

He asks if I want anything else, and I figure at this point, why not ask. I tell him Milwaukee already beat the Dodgers and he says it's cool anyway if I still want 'em. Asks me the line and AGAIN, gives me a 10 cent line on that over!!! Sweet. Sheets looked great too, so that win is a little more important than first glance.

It is only one game and all, but books don't do that stuff, very cool of him...and it's not the first time he's done stuff like this. We once took an SC game after their first TD. :lmao: Best guy I've ever had, for sure.

Anyway, those are my totals (15 units apiece), thanks for the input.

Milwaukee 081

Arizona 078.5

Quarterly Report (41 games in)

Brewers @ 26 - 15...need to finish at 2 games above .500 (over 81)...9 games up.

Diamondbacks @ 21 - 20...need to finish 4 games under .500 (over 78.5)...5 games up.

Sure wish I wouldn't have balked at that Yankees under...

I like Toronto UNDER 87 wins. Have you seen the driftwood they are throwing out there in the back half of their rotation? Starters 3-5 candidates put up a combined era north of 5.00 last year. They are going to struggle to keep runs off the board.
:goodposting: Happy to say that I jumped all over this line -- cant wait to cash in that ticket come October. NO WAY that team goes 69-53 the rest of the way...

I am surprised by the KC 67 UI would take that and runI am predicting at least 74 wins and 80 on the high side.Their record after GM Dayton Moore took over last season (and started wheeling and dealing) on 6/8 was 48-58, which over 162 computes to between 73-74 wins. You change the roster as much as they have and they are supposed to go BACKWARDS?If they are below 74-88 I will be disappointed. Anything higher than 80 is a bonus.
KC is on pace right now for only 65, but since the 3-11 start, they are 16-17, so I feel confident in my prediction of at least 74-88.

I tried to tell you to take the Giants Under.
And I considered it strongly, my disdain for them withstanding. Problem was, I took 4 teams last year and split. Taking 4 again, I probably go 3 - 1 at best, which isn't worth the risk really. If I go 2 - 0, well that's even better with no vig on the loss (playing 4 games). So in the end, I took only two...and doing alright thus far. Regardless, thanks for the input.

Been meaning to ask you guys who bet these. Do you sweat them out everyday? I'm assuming you have to check and see if your team won or lost? Also, do you ever play against or for teams you bet on?

If I played a season win total. For example Yanks Under, I would have trouble betting them to win in a single game. Sure it's just one game of 162, but still.

I actually have a $100 bet with a friend that the Yanks won't make the playoffs and I make it a point to check how they do everyday.

Here are the ones I like:

Atlanta 82 82.5 O-125 83 OVER (Looking good ;) )

Cincinnati 77 75.5 O-125 76 OVER ( :bag:

LA Dodgers 88 OVER!!!! (Looking good  )

Milwaukee 81 OVER!!! (Looking good  )

Minnesota 84 84.5 U-125 OVER ( )

NY Mets 90 89 O-125 UNDER!!! ( )

NY Yankees 97 97.5 U-125 96.5 UNDER (Looking good  )

Seattle 79 78 O-125 78.5 OVER!!! (looking good  )
Lets see how I'm doing at the halfway mark.Looks like three of my four  picks are looking good in the Mariners, Brewers, and Dodgers. I should bet some money next year.

Do you really think I sweat them out everyday. 162 games kid. Yeah, I'm a nervous wreck daily. No, I actually enjoy catching up a day or two later, if I missed some scores. I certainly follow baseball a bit more.As for playing against or for one of the teams I selected, I totally separate it. I'll do both at times. In the final weeks, however, I will hedge or whatnot, if need be.

Another quarterly report (or thereabouts):Brewers come in at 49 - 39 (need the Over 81)...so 33 - 41 wins it. 32 wins is a push. 8 games up. :lmao:

Diamondbacks staggered in at 47 - 43 (Over 78.5)...so 32 - 40 wins it. 6 games up. :loco:

Arizona is the one that scares me a bit.

Well, I was wrong to be more concerned with Arizona as they wrapped it up weeks ago. Thanks to those of you that helped sell me on them (haven't checked).

It is the Brew Crew that has me glued. I need a 6 and 8 finish to win that one. This upcoming series with Houston is BIG. Gotta get 2 out of 3 there. They have owned the Astros this year yet suck on the road, so we'll see. Then, it's a tough 4 games at Atlanta. I think they only get 1 there. That would leave 3 wins needed out of their season-finishing 7 game home stand, which won't be easy with St. Louis and San Diego.

Either win 30 units, or lose 3... :lmao: :football:

I'll change these as necessary, but below are ballpark numbers on what "vegas" would put each team's win total at. Give us your input. Who do you think is being under or overrated here?

Arizona 79 - over

Boston 91 - over

Detroit 89 - over

Florida 78 - under

Houston 79 - under

Milwaukee 81 - over

NY Mets 90 -over

San Francisco 81 -under LOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are the ones I like alot. The others Id stay away from.
 I couldve won ALOT of money. Only one I got wrong is Detroit with Mets and Milwaukee still up in the air.

As expected 2 out of 3 from the Stros. Feel like they let one slip tonight though, and a sweep would have been huge. Need 4 out 11 and I only see 1 coming in Atlanta. Nervous.

I've been sweating the Yankees HARD the last two weeks. I don't know if they're going to lose another game. I almost threw up in the 6-run eighth against the Red Sox last weekend. Red Sox take 2/3 from the Yankees, I am golden. As it stands, I see the Yankees not losing again and I'm really, REALLY gonna   :hophead:

I've been watching this closely, as I've been kicking myself all year for balking at the Yankees under because it dropped a HALF to 96. :lmao:I kind of want them to do it. The ol' reverse bet if you will. Nah, good luck.Fun bets, huh?

Oh I love futures bets....thing is, I thought this ####er was in the bag around the all-star break. Gonna go bridge jumping if it doesn't cash. 10 Yankee games left, Toronto, Baltimore and D-Rays. :X

I think you are going to be OK Brong... no need to sweat it.
Thanks, but don't say that. :D Sheets just went down.Atlanta could sweep them, possibly. And they suck on the road. Then, I'm really sweating it.Not comfortable by any means.Sure is fun to follow though...

Yikes. This IS getting dicey. And if you want to hedge one of the last games you are going to be paying through the nose. In a sense, the opportunity isn't there.

I kind of want them to do it. The ol' reverse bet if you will. Nah, good luck.
I feel the same way about the Cubs... .had them at 5-1 to win the division at the All-Star Break, had 5 units booked to win 25, didn't pull the trigger, went back after the All Star Game right before the start of the second half and they were down to 2-1. I didn't play it. Now I hope they lose.

Looks like I will hit 2 of 4.

Cardinals under is wrapped up.

Milwaukee needs 4 wins out of 10 to wrap up their over).

Houston already failed me on the over.

Chicago will likely fail me on the under (if they win more than 3 of their last 9 games).

First year I have ever done this - so fortunately I did not have a lot of units in play.

As a Giants fan, I'd bet them under 81. The starting pitching should be pretty good, but the lineup is very questionable and the bullpen is worse. I think they're about a 500 team this year but think its much more likely that they finish several games below than several games above.
:bs:maybe next time I'll actually put my money where my mouth is.
