Belichick: We have not worked out a quarterback (1 Viewer)

Here's one for a rumor starter, what about Culpepper? He's very available, is at his best with Moss, and may consider the job if he's given a chance to compete for the starting job.

Just a thought . . .

Watching the BB presser...

I was under the impression that Simms had already worked out and Rattay was on his way.

BB has refuted this.

Other teams were offering him a back-up spot, but not a chance to compete for, or be the starter, that's why he threw his little hissy fit. But if he's offered a chance, he would probably take it.

Best ever scenario would be that they bring Drew Bledsoe back and he takes them to another Super Bowl title. Not going to happen, but it's an entertaining what if to consider. :goodposting:

I wonder if Vinnie T is warming up somewhere...

I was surprised he even admitted Brady was out.....I just figured he would wait until game time Sunday to put him on IR.

He would have had to go with doubtful....or maybe questionable if Tom wheeled around practice in a wheelchair....
:goodposting:Should be a SNL skit

Vinnie T is already backing up Delhomme in Carolina, had 5 TDs last year.I would love to see Bledsoe come back and win a Super Bowl, it's about as likely as Culpepper, but fun to think about and would make a great story. At least we have a much better OLine than when he was last in New England.

Tom was "limited" in practice today...

Plus he's got that victim mentality that would fit right in with that lockerroom.

There are several signs that Belichick is telling a lie. You probably missed the first and most obvious one, when his lips move.

Pretty sure he officially retired after last season.

I do not believe Vinny T is a Panther and he should be a free agent.

Peter King had contacted Vinny right away. He claims not to have been contacted by the Pats yet (Per MMQB).

Sorry, my bad, I was going by CBSSportsline which still had him listed with CAR. I forgot they just keep the last team, same with Shaun Alexander still listed as with SEA.

well there's your problem.

You are subscribing to unsubstantiated rumor.Culpepper was getting bad mouthed by other agents. They started the rumor that he was only interested in having the option to start to keep the market down for Daunte, in the hope of generating more interest for their clients who have far less ability.

Aren't you also subscribing to unsubstantiated rumor? Not trying to be confrontive, but really, is it any more than that?

Yeah, that's the only reason. Like coaches and GM's are going to take the word of an agent who has his own axe to grind.

It happens. I've been wrong once or twice, but I don't like to talk about it.I think Vinny is serious this time. Seems to me I read that he got some calls in the pre-season and turned them down, I couldn't say who from.

I imagine Vinny T is playing with a football outside a mobile home right now muttering "I betcha I could throw a football over those mountains"

Though I'm sure others have mentioned it, I only just remembered the "joke" of placing a walking boot and then crutches at Brady's locker during the preseason. Oops.

Any chance that they re-sign Matt Gutierrez?
Yes.If they sign anyone, it would be to BACK UP Cassel. At least that's the plan today.
What are your thoughts on Cassell? I know of him from HS and losing the QB job to Matt Leinart at SC, but I haven't paid too much attention to him because of Brady's presence. He's obviously going to be the starter, but are the Patriots viewing him as a capable replacement or is he a stop-gap until they can find a more suitable replacement?

Yudkin's thoughts on Cassel.

:hey: I would be SHOCKED if BB had ANY interest in Culpepper. Jeff George would be a better option (suggested by Merrill Hoge today  )
My God, Hoge is an idiot. Of mammoth proportions. That is all.

Interesting guy. He does great breaking down running game film on Edge NFL Matchup, but the 4th or 5th concussion created a blind spot in his brain when it comes to analyzing anything about the passing game. Reporter to Randy Moss, a couple years ago: "Randy, Merrill Hoge says you're not that good."

Moss: "Who is Merrill Hoge?"
