Belichick: We have not worked out a quarterback (1 Viewer)

Here's one for a rumor starter, what about Culpepper? He's very available, is at his best with Moss, and may consider the job if he's given a chance to compete for the starting job because no other teams are interested.

Just a thought . . .
Fixed
Other teams were offering him a back-up spot, but not a chance to compete for, or be the starter, that's why he threw his little hissy fit. But if he's offered a chance, he would probably take it.
You are subscribing to unsubstantiated rumor.Culpepper was getting bad mouthed by other agents. They started the rumor that he was only interested in having the option to start to keep the market down for Daunte, in the hope of generating more interest for their clients who have far less ability.
Aren't you also subscribing to unsubstantiated rumor? Not trying to be confrontive, but really, is it any more than that?
It has been supported by Daunte & Mike Florio who keeps a closer eye on agents than anyone I have ever read. It is also intuitively a very plausible story. Add in the fact that Daunte has said in no uncertain terms that he is willing to be a backup and that is enough for me to side with Daunte in this dispute.

Yeah, that's the only reason. Like coaches and GM's are going to take the word of an agent who has his own axe to grind.
Coaches and management do seemingly bizarre things all the time. Why is it so difficult to believe that coaches will listen to rumors started by an agent with whom they most likely have more than a passing familiarity (from previous negotiations)? If more than one agent says it then it just becomes more likely that coaches and management will be influenced by it.

Just to point out, the Cpep negative bias has apparently infected 90% of people who watch football, too.

Pioli and Belichick are squabbling, or at least that's what Mort makes it sound like (Simms and Rattay were flown in, but Pioli sent them home when they showed up).

That's my spin on it. Mort's spin is that Moss is whispering Dante Culpepper to the organization.

Lots of intrigue; good stuff.

That's a rather large number to fabricate.Look at the list of starting and backup QBs in the league and tell me that a guy as accomplished and young (31) as Daunte should be blackballed. Do you think that 90% of the people who watch football believe that Chris Redman, Todd Bouman, Rex Grossman, Brad Johnson, Patrick Ramsey, Cleo Lemon, Damon Huard etc. are better than Daunte? In fact looking over the list of backup QBs in the league I challenge you to find 90% of any population that would say Daunte doesn't deserve to be in the NFL.

You could make a compelling argument that Daunte is better than a lot of starting QBs too.

jesus -- enough w/culpepper!

he got offers, he turned them down, he's a horrible agent, and a drama queen w/a huge victimization complex.

end of story.

Or he's an above average QB who is being blackballed from the league.Whatever floats your boat.

I've figured it out, your starting Pats QB for the remainder of the season: Troy Brown. He CAN do it all.
