Bengals vs. Packers MNF- what are you watching for? (1 Viewer)

One of the main things that I am interested in is Chris Perry and how he is going to be used in the Bengals O. I honestly feel that today might be the last day to try and acquire him on the "cheap."

How about you?

The Chris Perry tires get retread every summer. Eventually people will wise up.

I am watching for Brandon Jackson as Grant is out with a hamstring, and the time is ripe for renewing the buzz around him.

Also interested to see Rodgers. That's about it.

1. Perry - I just picked him up on waivers

2. Rodgers - how comfortable does he look in the offense

3. Cincy 3rd WR option

4. Brandon Jackson - does he look as good as GB says?

I want to see how Rodgers plays mostly....this can effect the value of not only himself but Driver and Jennings.

I want to Cinncy's 1st team offense to see if they click or if they struggle (not sure who all is playing)

It will probably be a small and short sample, but I'll be interested in watching GB's ancient CB's against the Cincy wideouts. If these 2 guys suddenly start feeling their age this year it could get GB into a lot of shootouts and increase the value of their WR's.

Rodgers and how he can climb from 14-16 round pick
How does Chad Johnson fit back in
Is Rudi really going to slip to the 5th round or furtherThese are just some of the things I am excited to see. CJ's value has come down over the summer and Rudi's has been falling for two years. I want to see if it is worth the time to draft them.

Chris Perry (Yeah, I'm a sucker, so what?)

Dhani Jones

Bengals 3rd WR

Backup Packer RBs (I still like Wynn)

Rodgers, obviously

Al Harris won't play tonight. His back has been giving him problems. I'm quite excited to see Tramon Williams go up against Housh and Johnson. Should be a great test for the young corner.

James Jones and Jordy Nelson. Jones reportedly also had a great off season. I want to see what he can do.

I want to see if the Packers LB corps can cover the Bengals like they did the Packers first teamers in the scrimmage. I think Green Bay could have one of the very best linebacking units in the NFL. I think Hawk really makes that jump this season, as well as Poppinga.

Packers running game and Cinci's passing game.

If Brandon Jackson shows some flavor during the preseason were looking at a full blown RBBC, also Palmer had trouble last year and i want to see if he's going to completely lose it this year.

After the first Packers series, I will go outside to see if I can hear the audible "click" of everyone losing interest in the game and switching to the olympics.

On a serious note...

I'm going to watch the O-line for the Packers and see if they can open up some holes for the running game as it took them until week 6 or so last year to figure it out.

Also, Brandon Jackson is on my watch list as I believe he is the best RB on the Packers roster.

Chris Perry = Brandon Jackson for the Bengals

For a deep sleeper keep an eye on Tory Humphry as he may be able to secure the 2nd TE position and is turning heads in TC.

There has been talk that Flynn is starting to pass Brohm in picking up the offense. Will be interesting to see how each QB fares tonight.

This Brandon Jackson bandwagon seems to get loaded at this time the past two seasons, and by week 2, we'll hear whining and crying from those who drafted him... :lmao: :lmao: Ryan Grant owns the GB Packers backfield..like the original poster said, the Chris Perry situation bears close watching, as does the condition of Rudi Johnson, because if he doesn't 'have it', this starting RB spot will be up for grabs between Perry and Watson ...I'm interested in who is going to take over for Chris Henry

Cinci's offense will not be much to see as the 1st stringers arent playing much more than a series. Rudi and TJ aren't playng at all and I suspect Chad may not as he tweaked his ankle late last week.

Things to look for on the Bengals:

OFF-

OL performance- this is a big group that sucked last year but appear to be healthy,

backup RB- specifically Perry, all indications are that he is healthy and ready but we have heard that before.

backup WR [#3/#4]- is it Chatman, Maxwell or one of the Rookies

TE - how do they fit this into their offense out of 2 TE sets with Utecht and Kelly.

DEF-

CB play- specifically Jonathon Joseph. He could have significant INTs this year.

LB play- is Rivers the real deal?

Everybody has already talked about the Green Bay offense for the most part but I will be interested to see who Rodgers keys on- WR and TE. Driver was Favre's boy but will he be Rodgers?

Good call here. They liked Humphry heading into last season, but a broken leg took him out for the year. He seems back to 'normal' at this point. I'm interested in seeing the battle between him and Jermichael Finley for the #2 TE spot. They like all three of their tight ends in Green Bay. Could be interesting to see how this plays out.

I know its the first game but the Cincy RB situation is one of the more intriguing ones this offseason. If Rudi puts the hamstring injury of last year and reclaims his old form he could be a great value pick in the draft. I want to see what the breakdown will be this preseason between him and Kenny Watson who outplayed him. Also Chris Perry is finally healthy after years on the IR, what role will he play on this offense.

Secondly for Cincy I want to see who is going to fill Chris Henry's role, will it be TE Ben Utecht or one of the younger receivers stepping up, as Henry has shown in the past that 3rd receiver option in this offense has value.

I am looking forward to:

1: how the backup rb does since grant is out

2: how sharp cin offense looks

3: how jerome simpson does

4: how rogers and brohm does

So better to hope for something out of a back that has been in the league for four years and has a grand total of 337 career rushing yards? The guy who didn't play a down last year? How long is this situation going to bear close watching? At what point do you give up on a player, when they get cut or when they die? Yeah, rolleyes back at ya. I'm sure Perry, who didn't even play last year and has never been able to stay healthy or do squat has a better chance of making a fantasy impact behind a pro-bowler and the back that played ahead of him last year than a second-round pick in his second season who has shown great improvement and currently sits behind an undrafted back with about 12 good games to his credit and a hurt hamstring.

Chris Perry has obviously hurt you. I'm sorry for that.

My interest is with the fans. I have been a Packer fan longer than Brett Favre has been alive and have never seen a divided fan base. If the fans won't get behind this team it will affect everyone and that could spell fantasy trouble.

 no, I just created a thread about this. Honestly I just don't get it. The hype has been there for him like no other player I have ever seen. Hit the other thread if you want to enlighten me.

As a packers fan I just want to see Rodgers take the 1st unit down the field for a score. "Hoping" the fans don't give Rodgers too hard of a time, what's done is done and he is our QB now. Time to move on.

Of course I'll be watching Rodgers and Jackson, but I will be very interested in the OL and the young DB's.Regarding Rodgers' targets, I saw an interesting note recently regarding Ruvell Martin:

The 6'4" third-year receiver from Saginaw Valley has shown flashes of brilliance, and he's tight with Aaron Rodgers to the extent that it's become a joke. Against Dallas last year, Rodgers tried to cram a ball into Martin and got chewed out for it on the sideline. When coach Mike McCarthy asked for an explanation, Rodgers quipped, "Ruvell, that's my man." Now teammates mimmick that line almost every day.
I've always liked Martin due to his size and speed, but the Packers are obviously loaded at WR so it will be hard for him to do anything significant absent an injury.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: While I get it that the hype for him is a little too much, the opposite is true as well. Where all the hate comin from? Did the guy steal a woman from you or something, sholditch?Oh, and Perry is a former 1st round pick and will always get chances to do something in this league. The fact that they have kept him through all of this is pretty telling. I would like to see what the kid can do once totally healthy. I remember some pretty electric plays from the kid when he was healthy...

I'm going to drink a shot of beer every time Favre's name is mentioned. How many cans do you suppose I'll go through?

Watching Aaron Rodgers of course and how the fans treat him. Hopefully more cheers than boos.

I was thinking the same thing....Make it a drinking game and see if I'm calling into work tomorrow with a wicked hangover...

I'm not getting this game where I am, much to my disappointment. Will it be on the web anywhere? If not, can anyone link me to an online radio broadcast if there will be one?

I am looking at Aaron Rodgers in this game. Looking for Aaron Rodgers to see if he can stay consistent and can stay healthy this game.

There is at least a 60% chance of alcohol poisoning....

GB- Rodgers obviously. Does he have a chemistry with any receiver in particular? For the last several years it was Favre/Driver.

I would expect Rodgers will get extended looks in preseason.

Bengals- The RBs no. 1. All of them.

Will this defense show up this year? How will rookie LB Rivers look? They need help everywhere. Somebody needs to step up.

Who Dey!

I'm more interested in how many 2 TE sets the Bengals run as opposed to who WR3 might be. I definitely wanna see how Perry looks. I'm also curious about how Rivers and Sims look in the defense and also how the overall unit looks in action. I'm further intrigued by the RFA James Johnson at RB who has supposedly look good in camp.
