Benson ranked higher than Portis this week? (1 Viewer)

Aren't those the preliminary rankings? They're going to be changed.

Portis was reported early in the week to have had bruised ribs, but this seems overblown at this point.

Leadfoot Benson is playing the Chiefs, but come on. He still falls into the backs of his offensive line. His leg drive reminds me of a donkey hauling limestone. I have been wrong before, don't get it twisted, but I know one thing. I am glad I do not own Leadfoot Benson in any of my leagues, dynasty/keeper or redraft. Whew.

If "Leadfoot" doesn't give the Chiefs a thumping to the tune of 100 and a TD, I'll be shocked.
I agree completely. Everyone is so off Benson because he had a tough day against the Chargers. I think he will be fine, and this week it is a nice match up.

Against the Chiefs, It will be such a blow out, they'll need to bring him in a lot so they don't wear down Adrian Peterson while they run out the clock. He should get lots of touches.

I think someone is going to get 100 yds + TD...I just don't know if it'll be Benson or Peterson. I hope it's Benson. I also own Ahman Green (who played a decent game against the Chiefs last week and shared the ball with Dayne) and would expect/hope Benson will get similar production (despite sharing the ball with Peterson). Frankly, the Bears should have a comfortable lead going in the 4th quarter and run the ball to kill the clock.

Why are so many predicting AP will get any more action than he has for the past 6 years? Is there any link that would support a split that would give him more carries? I don't think so, which means Benson gets 20+ and this will be a decent evaluation of what he will offer this year.

I think Benson is a strong play this week. Very little downside IMO. If I am wrong, I'd be surprised. :P

Well Philly is the 4th overall defense after one week while KC is 20th.

VS the run Philly allowed 2.7 ypc and 46 yds KC 3.5 ypc and 109 yds

Portis is clearly (at least to me) the better RB but Benson has a more favorable matchup.

There is more risk of Portis having time share and possible injury issues. Benson is healthy and not sharing time.

Chicago defense should be able to shut KC offense down giving CHI offense more ops. WAS defense not as likely to have advantage like CHI does.

There are factors that favor Benson more than Portis. I am still undecided personaly if those factors are enough to make up the difference in talent between the 2 RB or not.

Poris at 28 is a joke.

you are telling me i should start the following RBs over Portis :lmao:

Dunn, Barber, Lewis, R. Brown just to name a few

I predict he'll be back where he should be - in the top-15 - in tomorrow's cheatsheets.

Philly's run defense looks great because they've only played Green Bay so far. This is why it's silly to generalize based on defensive rankings after week 1.

well I don't have the stats in front of me, but I'm pretty sure since Portis has been in DC, he's had a lot of big games against the Eagles...

I am aware of that and this of course will change. I look at things like this more in quarters, 4 week blocks. That being said it is not a generalization but a detail. Philly does have a different mix of defensive personel available to them than last year. DT Bunkley thier 1st round pick last year is healthy this year. Known for his exceptional strength which may be having a great impact of the entire defense. DT Patterson had a huge ammount of tackles. This may be a effect of Bunkley eating up blockers for him. TKO is healthy for the 1st time since 2004 when he was definitly one of the best linebackers in the league. Gaither, Gocong and Considine are new starters for them as well. While I agree Brandon Jackson probobly has somthing to do with the effectivness of thier run defense, there may be more to this than just a poor rushing effort from the Packers.Meanwhile changes to KC are more on the offensive side of the ball and most of them are not upgrades.

Guys if you don't start Benson this week then why did you draft him? If there was ever a week to play Benson, this is the week. And I agree with ranking Benson over Portis this week. I don't know about the rest of the year, but this week Benson has a good game.

Philly D = paper tiger.

They are ranked #4 because GB only ran it FIFTEEN times. In a close game! They probably had more series where they went 3 and out passing the ball, than they had series with 2 or more runs. That will NOT happen in Washington this season. They are a pound the rock, occasional deep ball team.

Look for 30+ carries and a whole lot more than 45 yards...

PS- KC is prematurely getting ranked as the #32 team in the NFL. Most people don't realize this yet, but Houston is now a good team. They are not a team on the rise, they are a GOOD team.

I hear there's gonna be a strong wind on Sunday so Benson may fall down all by himself. Has it been disproved yet that a girl scout could tackle him?

Breaking news: earthquake in Indonesia, and Benson fell down.
