Amused to Death

Riverside, Iron Maiden and now Gary Clark, Jr.....It's been a good month of new releases so far.
I keep trying Fidlar and something just doesn't work for me. But I'll keep trying.Fidlar's latest Too is fun romp on first listen.
Didn't like the new one. They were better when they had life threatening drug addictions.I keep trying Fidlar and something just doesn't work for me. But I'll keep trying.Fidlar's latest Too is fun romp on first listen.
Cannot wait to listen later on today.####### loving the new Beach House album
"Beyond Love" is a top 3 song of the year for me at this point and "Sparks" isn't far behind. Great album.wazoo11 said:Cannot wait to listen later on today.Steve Tasker said:####### loving the new Beach House album
Sparks had a neat intro... then put me to sleep. Too dreamy for me."Beyond Love" is a top 3 song of the year for me at this point and "Sparks" isn't far behind. Great album.wazoo11 said:Cannot wait to listen later on today.Steve Tasker said:####### loving the new Beach House album
This is really ####### good.rockaction said:Red Dons's The Dead Hand of Tradition is a good Wipers-esque punk listen. Actually, it's really good, if a little niche-y, probably.
I'd start with track number seven.

Cool. I really enjoy them. Dead Hand... is a little more mid-tempo than their other ones, but I still really like it. Fake Meets Failure (2010) could be one of the better punk records I've heard in a long time, all things considered. It soars all over the place. This is really ####### good.rockaction said:Red Dons's The Dead Hand of Tradition is a good Wipers-esque punk listen. I was actually just popping in to comment on this album, I dig it. Maybe not as good as Gloss Drop but certainly a good listen.I never treated them as anything more than a curiosity, but I think that Battles's La Di Da Di is really different -- groovy, almost proggy, dancing cool. Dang, I really like it upon first listen. FF Bada and Dot Net are pretty cool dance/post-rock tracks.
eta* Dang, the first four tracks, including Summer Simmer, are stone cold. This has a Do Make Say Think/Tortoise vibe to it.
In Death Reborn actually come out last year, FWIW. It is really good.Tops of this year for me are Failure's Heart is a Monster and Army of the Pharos In Death Reborn
I need to hear that Cloud Nothings / Wavves. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the 2014 Cloud Nothings release.
That Wavves/CNs album has held up prettty well for me.ended up cycling through it a couple of times in the background while working. good stuff, but more of a "in-the-mood" thing for me than a regular listen.Mbongwana Star - From Kinshasha
Congolese band. Not in my usual wheelhouse but sounds like outer space on headphones. Getting rave reviews.

first 20 seconds and I'm in. not sure if this will hold up for me over the whole album, but![]()
Just found Wavves/Cloud Nothings joint album, No Life for Me... part way through, and I'm liking it a lot.
Thought this wasn't out til the end of the week?Chvrches![]()

if I don't like Ryan Adams OR Taylor Swift... do I still have to listen to this?Nailed it, great album.Ryan Adams covered "1989". The whole album. It's ####### amazing. My favorite record this year for sure.
I found the new one a letdown, I'll have to give it some more time.Ought has a new one- I it better than last year's, even if none of the songs are individually grabbing me as much as last year's.
No, I don't think so. It's a good album, but it's a Ryan Adams album. If that's not your thing than no reason to listen beyond the novelty of it.if I don't like Ryan Adams OR Taylor Swift... do I still have to listen to this?Nailed it, great album.Ryan Adams covered "1989". Yes. Top 5 of the year so far.CHVRCHES album is great, as expected.
vocally a mix of No Age and Parquet Courts. musically...Hooton Tennis Club is a band. They have an album called HIghest Point in Cliff Town. It's good. Like somebody who grew up listening to Pavement and sprinkled in some more poppy stuff.
... whatever is going on, I'm totally digging this. might be top of the year for me.
