Best albums of 2015 (1 Viewer)

Red Dons's The Dead Hand of Tradition is a good Wipers-esque punk listen. Actually, it's really good, if a little niche-y, probably.

I'd start with track number seven.

This is really ####### good.
:goodposting:
Cool. I really enjoy them. Dead Hand... is a little more mid-tempo than their other ones, but I still really like it. Fake Meets Failure (2010) could be one of the better punk records I've heard in a long time, all things considered. It soars all over the place.

In a similar vein (well, more by genre than anything) I'm just sitting down tonight with Radioactivity's (ex-Marked Men guys) Silent Kill, which is getting some nice press and sounded pretty darn good upon first listen. Noisey is no stranger to hyperbole, but they're calling it a "masterstroke." :shrugs:

I never treated them as anything more than a curiosity, but I think that Battles's La Di Da Di is really different -- groovy, almost proggy, dancing cool. Dang, I really like it upon first listen. FF Bada and Dot Net are pretty cool dance/post-rock tracks.

eta* Dang, the first four tracks, including Summer Simmer, are stone cold. This has a Do Make Say Think/Tortoise vibe to it.

I was actually just popping in to comment on this album, I dig it. Maybe not as good as Gloss Drop but certainly a good listen.

Hooton Tennis Club is a band. They have an album called HIghest Point in Cliff Town. It's good. Like somebody who grew up listening to Pavement and sprinkled in some more poppy stuff.

Mbongwana Star - From Kinshasha

Congolese band. Not in my usual wheelhouse but sounds like outer space on headphones. Getting rave reviews.

first 20 seconds and I'm in. not sure if this will hold up for me over the whole album, but
ended up cycling through it a couple of times in the background while working. good stuff, but more of a "in-the-mood" thing for me than a regular listen.

Just found Wavves/Cloud Nothings joint album, No Life for Me... part way through, and I'm liking it a lot.
That Wavves/CNs album has held up prettty well for me.

Wavves appear to have a couple new singles out- pretty good as well.

Lucero's new one is really good - slower stuff, but good. Nice to listen to after going through the entire live album from Atlanta.

Ought has a new one- I it better than last year's, even if none of the songs are individually grabbing me as much as last year's.

CHVRCHES album is great, as expected.
Yes. Top 5 of the year so far.

I think this one might be deeper than Bones of What You Believe, though I think Bones had more grabber pure pop hits. There's no "Recover" or "Gun" on this one, I don't think, but the album is top-to-bottom better. And Bones has been like my second most listened to album since 2013, so that's something something.

vocally a mix of No Age and Parquet Courts. musically... ... whatever is going on, I'm totally digging this. might be top of the year for me.
