Hi Folks,

Full disclosure here as we've been chosen to provide advice and news for their game but wanted to let folks know about a very cool new FREE game that Best Buy's introduced. Best Buy's New Game It's a weekly format so you can start or stop anytime. Free to enter and as you'd imagine, they have lots of cool electronics type prizes. Week 1 Prizes You can see the rules on the home page but it's pretty simple - they have a celebrity that picks a roster each week. You see what they've picked and then pick your roster. For every point that you beat the celebrity by, you get an entry into the prize pool for that week. So the more you beat the celebrity by, the better your chances.

This week it's Reba McIntyre. I'm sure she's a wonderful person but you guys have to tell you can beat Reba in picking a fantasy football lineup.

My friend Paul Charchain has designed the game and he's great and the guys at Best Buy have been fantastic. Should be a lot of fun. Play and win stuff.

J

They had Fantasy League in the past that was pretty fun, but I haven't seen or for a few years now...
The Best Buy guys running this one were able to convince management they needed to bring back a game. I guess it's a natural tie in for promotions and prizes with all the stuff they have there.J

Not as cool as the old contest but I entered. Wish there was a salary cap. Being able to pick any player is sort of the suck particularly since so can your opponent. Sorta like being in a 2-independent Conference, league with just 1 team per conference...

Yes, I'd guess a salary cap is the next thing they'll add. J

The one in the past was a salary cap deal and you kept players on your team from week to week. The thing that made it really interesting is the salary cap numbers for each player went up or down from week to week based on performance. So you might have a second year QB that is dirt cheap to start the season that tears it up and then gets injured for a couple of weeks. You can't afford to drop him because despite the injury there is no way you could afford to grab him a couple weeks later. Oh and week 8 all teams were disbanded and you had to re select your squad at the new adjusted prices. That's the only part I didn't like as it was a big equalizer to lesser players....

Scoring rules are TD heavy. Changes my line up a little bit.

No penalties for INTs or fumbles

YES!!

I remember when Best Buy did this about 5 years ago, then it disappeared and Bodog Sports did it for a couple seasons, then it disappeared forever. Glad to see its return!! Although, this format is certainly not as good as it was -- ie, rewarding the best team each week. This time, if you're "good enough", you have a random chance to win. That's much less fun.

I hope they are able to enforce the one-team-per-person policy. It's almost guaranteed that people will be using multiple accounts to have hundreds of entries each week.

I'm in, hoping to see FBG members earning prizes every week!

Any advice on who to put in the extra slot? I'm thinking a QB...?

I joined also. I think a QB in the bonus section would be the way to go.
I'm thinking WR here. QBs are penalized in comparison since they get 1/2 the value of a TD. In addition WR/RB/TE basically get .5 PPR when the scoring is normalized. For instance a WR with 6 rec/100yd/1TD would equal the score from a 240yd/3TD or 390yd/2TD QB...I'm loving the "tag" feature where that player gets 2x points for the week!

Yeah, this is where Reba really blew it. Tagging Chris Johnson against the Steelers was a homer mistake. The tag decision is where one can really separate your points from the celeb picks.

Good point about QB's being penalized. I taged Tom Brady but might change that.
