Best chrome book? (1 Viewer)

OK, how about just any chrome book?   Should I be scared of brands like  ACER  and ASUS?   Aren't Celeron processor's garbage?

Both have a good reputations for their Chromebooks. Acer is one of the most popular brands. I've mostly used ASUS (C300), and it's a very good Chromebook that's pretty average on all accounts (with great battery life, no fan noice, and great touchpad). Screen isn't going to satisfy a screengeek though.

Most Chromebooks are pretty good, or at least cheap enough that you don't care that much. I even got my wife a Haier to replace one (she's hard on them) and it does fine.

A good processor is nice, but with Chromebooks, there's just not that much too them and they don't need the bells and whistles to be a solid, snappy machine.

From the FBG thread, Samsung is extremely popular.

i have this as well. for everyday purposes, it's just fine. i don't play games anymore but for pretty much everything else it's been perfect for domestic use.

I've used an Acer for over two years now. Gave my three kids each an Asus chromebook for Christmas 2014. All of them still going strong. Screen went out on my Acer, but I simply took the bezel off and reseated the video wire and it came back on.

It's hard to say what the best is, as best means different things to different people. In fact, the niche for chromebooks are that they are NOT the best computer out there. Their niche is that they are good enough for 95% of what most people use a computer for but at a fraction of the price of a full computer. So for most, the "best" is the cheapest, but the cheapest won't have a great screen. I'd say the best is the cheapest with a decent screen.

I read there was supposedly a Samsung Chromebook Pro to be released any day now. Will probably be the best on the market.
