King of the Jungle

Now that the dust is settling and we have a better understanding where both quarterbacks are landing I am debating on which one of these hyped prospects will have more FF impact. I think this will be a tough choice for those drafting in top 4 in rookie drafts. Any thoughts?

I think Luck will have a pretty high floor, however is he dynamic enough to justify the high pick (FF)? When drafting a quarterback early in a rookie draft you want a difference maker. Getting a Matt Ryan type producer will not cut it. RGIII definitely benefits from Cam's success last year and therefore gives off the perception of a high upside. He runs fast and has a stronger arm than Luck. Could we be looking at another Cam like introduction to the NFL? If so many FFers may look back and kick themselves for taking Luck over RGIII.

Both QBs shined when the spotlight was the brightest which is what you want at that position.

Luck is no slouch in the athletic department and is the highest touted QB prospect potentially ever. He was helped by a great offensive line and a solid run game. He also had a pretty good surrounding cast to throw to. But when I watched Luck play it just appeared he was born to play QB. Incredible footwork in the pocket and a quick ability to go through his progressions. It was a thing of beauty.

Interesting debate IMO

Just read over at pft, after the bloodletting and all the dead money because of it, the colts will have to field a team with only $82 million of cap space. What kind of team can they put around Luck this year?

I've seen many of Luck's games, and man, does he look like a special player. He throws well, both from the pocket and while on the move. His passes are tight and on point. He certainly doesn't run like RG III but has the wheels to make positive yardage with his feet. I've heard a lot of people draw comparisions between Marr Ryan and Luck, and with all due respect to Ryan, he's just not in Luck's league. I think Luck becomes a great one.

To be totally transparent, I have not seen nearly enough of RG III to tell you anything original, but he will have to be truly exceptional to surpass Luck.

Indy is at least a stable franchise. The skins can ruin any player they bring into the organization, no matter the talent level.

I asume we are talking for their career and not the near future. I voted Luck. It's a guess for all of us at this point but I'd gamble with the guy that has been thought of as the best QB propect in many years.

Andrew Luck is extremely mobile and a more complete QB than RGIII. The only reason his mobility is overlooked is because RGIII is a freak of nature.

Going to be a tough call on this one. Great to see two more young talented QB's in fantasy football though.

I will go WAY out of a limb and say both guys will be better than Grossman, Beck, Painter, 48 year old Kerry Collins, etc.

Why do I feel the Washington trade has doomed Griffin for failure? No high picks for a couple of years, not much cap room, not much talent. Not a good combo for a young QB.

They've done a reasonable job building mid round talent in recent years. And Snyder will spend the fa money to get more pieces.

Not much cap room? NOT MUCH CAP ROOM?Why do I feel there is a lot of jealousy going on ITT?

Redskins have a lot of cap room and a willingness to spend and get good players around him. Plus they already have good runners and tightends to dump off to.

Now what?? When we see the cap room the Redskins had was cut in half? Garcon and Morgan.....is that really enough talent for RG3.....given no 1st rounders until 2015?

I am concerned about this. We might be a couple of years away before they can bring in anyone to help him. I imagine he will wind up running/forced out of the pocket a lot.

Yes I think that is enough. I dont think they would have gotten different receivers without the cap issue. They got the guys they wanted. They still have a lot of draft picks and this class is loaded with big fast receivers.Remember in addition to Garçon and Morgan, they still have Fred Davis, Hankerson, Moss, and Gaffney and two good young RBs. Helu in particular is great out of the backfield. Now they need to focus on the o-line and secondary.

Just bumping this as I think it is an interesting debate. Griffin seems to be picking up steam and more and more seem to be leaning towards his upside versus Luck's (apparent) high floor. Any additional thoughts?

I voted Luck but if I was put in the position to make the pick it would be much harder to do then just picking Lucks name in a poll. First I really dont know a ton about how either offensive line will look in 2012 so I would do a lot more research on it if I owned pick 3-5 in any of my leagues but since I dont Im not going to do the homework.

In one of my dynasty leagues I have pick #4 and QB is my team's biggest need, it's an ideal time to grab one of these two rookies...but which one? I feel like I'll go with Luck because he's more of a "can't miss" prospect, but I do like the "swing for the fences" mentality of taking RGIII and what appears to be a lower floor, but higher upside.
