Man with Davis and Hartman out; Justin Smith was huge. He is going to flash and keep making Freshman mistakes the rest of this year, but that’s a player/name every Big10 team is going to know in a year or two.

So assuming they hold on here, isn't OSU going to be like 5-0 in the BIg Ten? Maybe they are good. One of those games in CBus today. Played weak all game. No one can make a shot. Too many turnovers and a hot shooting team at home in the B1G. Glad this team tasted a little defeat today. They’ll be better.
4-0, but yeah good point. So assuming they hold on here, isn't OSU going to be like 5-0 in the BIg Ten? Maybe they are good.

Possibly, how good is Holtmann?Interesting result yesterday. So the burning question... How good is Ohio St?
I understand that, but after they way the U handled the football, I cant trust them at all. What I don't understand is not having a police investigation.
So you MN folk can maybe expand on this, but this seems to be getting ugly. Allegedly this Abby Honold told the AD about Lynch and nothing was done?Several things could explain that.
I think it is just par for the course in today's current climate.
In reading some of the stories, I am not sure how much stock be put in to Abby's comments on the meeting itself. This story has a little more detail. It sounds like she was passing on allegations from other women who never actually went to the police. I'm not sure what the U was supposed to do with that information (essentially unsubstantiated rumor). I don't know the details of this meeting, or how much the topic of Lynch was discussed. Was it 30 seconds of a two hour meeting?
Interesting. It sounds like - at the least - what she told the AD should have sparked them to investigate further. In reading some of the stories, I am not sure how much stock be put in to Abby's comments on the meeting itself. That said, this story goes on to show that if the U cared at all about Lynch's behavior off the court, it seems it would have been easy to find out. I tend to think the U cared more about his ability to play the game of basketball. Do we really think the son of Rick Pitino is primarily motivated at running the cleanest program in the country? Or do you think he wants to win above all else so he can get a more lucrative job at a more prestigious university?

You can thank the refs for handing that one to you.Boilers.....boom!
damn Michigan is tough. What a great game.
You can thank the refs for handing that one to you.
Great game, otherwise.
B1G B1G B1G.Another great game ruined by replay. They can watch the frame-by-frame of the ball leaving his hand but they need to ignore the frame-by-frame of his hand getting pulled off the ball by the defender. Awful as usual.
Technically from the replay they made the right call. Mathias' hand was swiping backwards towards him but the ball last touched the Michigan player's hand last. In the spirit of the game with these types of calls it should have been Michigan's ball.B1G B1G B1G.
Refs are going to go with that result from replay? Then scrap replay...
Third accusation against Lynch, stick a fork in him, he's done.Interesting. It sounds like - at the least - what she told the AD should have sparked them to investigate further.
Just like with the current Michigan State scandal, if she did tell the AD that she knew of other people and he didn't have some kind of investigation - seems like a pretty fireable offense.
That specific play is a big problem with replay. Its always been an agreement that in that situation the offense retains the ball and they don't call a foul on the defense.Technically from the replay they made the right call. From a national perspective you are right. I still have a hard time not getting excited about any conference road win though; those are gold.whoknew said:Really sucks as a Michigan fan because, in the Big Ten this year, there aren't many opportunities for big wins. Because the Big Ten kind of stinks.
They need to run some actual plays on those last two offensive possessions...
Yep. No passes by Sanders on the last 3 possessions (hit the shot on the first). They need to run some actual plays on those last two offensive possessions...
I know it's hard to try to take anything positive away from a loss, but that was a hell of a performance at a very tough place to play.Yep. No passes by Sanders on the last 3 possessions (hit the shot on the first).
Yeah I'm not too bummed. They've played MSU very tough now home and away and at least it takes the sting out of a couple recent WTF losses following a decent Wisconsin win.I know it's hard to try to take anything positive away from a loss, but that was a hell of a performance at a very tough place to play.
Won't be able to watch until much later, but I don't see how the Terps can hang with OSU tonight. I read that Wiley is out with a concussion, which leaves Nickens, Tomaic, and Obi as the only bench players. Guess I'll find out in about five hours...
Yeah, it's starting to remind me of Gary's "flex offense" in that he won't change it to fit his personnel. I think that Williams' stubborness cost Maryland a win or two during the NCAAs in the mid-90s when he had Smith/Rhodes/et al (though no one was beating UCLA that night they dunked the Terps into oblivion). It also hurt his late 90s teams with Profit & Stevie Francis, though Francis had the good sense to say "#### it, I'm the best player on the floor" (the only time Francis showed good sense) and took over some games they needed to win badly.I'm also growing increasingly frustrated with Turgeon's offense.
MSU didn't play defense at all. It's not like Michigan was drilling tough 3s all game. They only hit 6 which is probably a season low. They didn't have to bother with 3s because they could get an uncontested layup pretty much whenever they wanted.I don't think MSU played all that bad or didn't try. Sometimes, the other team just plays better. That was Michigan today. Fun game to watch, in any case.
They weren't great today, the other team was better. There are good players and coaches all over the place. MSU isn't good enough, nor is any other team I've seen this year, to be shocked about losing to a rival. Update?Saw this in an article - it stinks.
Three of the Spartans’ single-play opponents in the conference are, perhaps, the three best teams in the conference not named Michigan State — Purdue, Minnesota and Michigan. The three have a combined record of 39-8. The rest of the league (not including MSU) is a combined 102-54. Michigan State will face each only once. (The only other team to avoid a home-and-home with all four top teams is Penn State. Poor Maryland, meanwhile, gets MSU, U-M and Purdue all twice apiece.)
Of those three high-profile single-play games against Purdue, Minnesota and Michigan, only one is on the road. The Spartans will play at Minnesota, but host both top-contender Purdue and rival Michigan. (Michigan State is 158-31 in Big Ten games at Breslin Center under Izzo.)

That stinks. Not because I think MSU would lose those games, but just because the best games in the BIG this year could be MSU at Purdue or MSU at M. Those would be really fun games.
I suspect MSU will drop a game somewhere on an off night, but I'd be really surprised if they lost ... lets say more than 2.
Surprised. Still think MSU is the best team and will win the conference. But its certainly interesting with Purdue and OSU having a 2 game lead on them.Update?
Im very surprised that both Michigan and tOSU haven’t made it into the top 25 yet. Both are definitely legit. Diop playing like the B1G MVP so farMichigan losing to Purdue by 1 and beating MSU by 10. Even with the lose, showed they are a top 20 team. No bad losses and some quality wins (UCLA, Texas, MSU). Some pansies on the schedule hurt, but still will be a crime if they don't show up on rankings.
Ditto, Terps at Michigan tonight. Wiley still probably out with the concussion. Should be able to watch around 9:30 or so tonight.Won't be able to watch until much later, but I don't see how the Terps can hang with OSU tonight. As a Michigan fan, this is a scary game. After the last two games - especially Saturday at MSU - I could see a big letdown. And MD is too good to let down against.Ditto, Terps at Michigan tonight. Wiley still probably out with the concussion. Should be able to watch around 9:30 or so tonight.
