Doesn't Mich typically gel later in the season? They seem to be firing on all cylinders.Michigan beats Purdue by 19 - 76-57. UNC has scored the most points against MI this season - 67. They also gave M the closest game - a 17 point M win.
This team is REALLY good right now.
Yes. Even in all their recent great seasons with back to back B10 tournament titles and 2 NCAA title games, I don’t think they have ever started well or won the B10 regular season.Doesn't Mich typically gel later in the season? They seem to be firing on all cylinders.
7/21 is a scoring machine?Edwards is a scoring machine, but Purdue unable to stop Michigan.

A very inefficient machine in need of repair7/21 is a scoring machine?
Let's see how UNC and Purdue look over the next couple of weeks. They're arguably legit but just couldn't match up with Michigan's D.At some point this Michigan team will have to play a legit team and we will see how they look when tested.
That would have to be either Kansas, Duke or Gonzaga. Michigan State late in the season may be difficult. The biggest challenge for Michigan will be to hold it together and try to improve. At some point this Michigan team will have to play a legit team and we will see how they look when tested.
He is still the 2nd leading scorer in the top 5 conferences in the country. He was scoring for a stretch early in the second half when that was posted. It was not like I posted that after the game.7/21 is a scoring machine?
It was doubtful Michigan was even going to make the tourney last year. They were a bubble team in January.Yes. Even in all their recent great seasons with back to back B10 tournament titles and 2 NCAA title games, I don’t think they have ever started well or won the B10 regular season.
Yep I actually tuned out a bit last year because I thought they were awfulIt was doubtful Michigan was even going to make the tourney last year. They were a bubble team in January.
They do. Beilein's offense is pretty complicated so it usually takes a while to integrate new people. They usually play their best in Feb/March.Doesn't Mich typically gel later in the season? They seem to be firing on all cylinders.

I know they are red hot but when it's a well coached team with a history of improving during the season and the star of the team is a freshman, I think it is reasonable to assume the team can get better by March. They do. Beilein's offense is pretty complicated so it usually takes a while to integrate new people. They usually play their best in Feb/March.
Will be interesting to see what happens with this team. I worry a little they are peaking too early but when defense is your calling card, its easier to sustain that.
It's often tough for me to tell whether teams are cutting off that pass or Maryland stops going to it. I'm usually watching the ball rather than watching the off-ball defenders. Similar thing happened against PSU last night. I have to think the defense is adjusting.I had company and didn't pay real close attention, but......
Maryland had some success early with Bruno flashing into the lane and either going to the rim or shooting a baby hook. Did Virginia do something to stop that or did Maryland just go away from it for some other reason?
A minor miracle that Maryland was able to get back close towards the end, considering they had to play into UVA's half court D the entire game - Virginia only had TWO turnovers in the game, meaning Maryland couldn't run on them as much as I had hoped.
That last shot by Cowan shouldn't have been necessary, but it was ridiculous. To hit from 27 feet with the shot clock at 2, with a 6'9" guy in your face, and essentially put the game away... That's a big-time shot.Maryland scraped by PSU in a sloppy game. Cowan hit two big 3s towards the end, but Morsell is the one who bailed the Terps out.
Bruno & Smith were both aggressive, though only in spurts. As I said above, I thought the team looked tired - UVA will do that to ya.That last shot by Cowan shouldn't have been necessary, but it was ridiculous. To hit from 27 feet with the shot clock at 2, with a 6'9" guy in your face, and essentially put the game away... That's a big-time shot.
I don't know how I feel about this Terps team yet. Unlike Michigan, Maryland's recent history is that they play worse in Feb/March, but maybe that changes on a team with so many freshmen.
I noticed that Bruno made only two field goals, but was 8-8 from the line. If he keeps that up, it makes him a low-post force.
Seems like Michigan has a legit claim to the #1 ranking at this point. They are repeatedly destroying good teams.
7 deep, plus 3 pretty highly recruited freshmen who will get integrated more throughout the season.jon_mx said:There are probably 5 elite teams (MI, VIR, Duke, Zag, KAN) which are all arguably the best team in the country. Michigan will not be able to leapfrog them until they lose. Michigan has weaknesses, mainly horrible (61%) FT shooting and lack of depth going only about 7 deep. But with their tenacious #1 defense and well run offense they should win the BIG and have a #1 seed. OSU, MSU and maybe Iowa will be competitive, but none of them look as good as Michigan.
Michigan looks strong to start. Who are these interesting people betting against the Wolverines? Some interesting people like that NW line tonight
Respected bettors with $$$Michigan looks strong to start. Who are these interesting people betting against the Wolverines?
Damn right - I thought it reads moneyline but it was a smart bet either wayRespected bettors with $$$
I know a guy...Rich Conway said:Turgeon needs to go. I'm not sure I can think of a coach whose results manage to consistently underperform relative to the talent available.
I was pretty shocked by that and it changed my view of the guy. The tweet is a bit misleading though. He got a flagrant 1 which was a game changer at the time. I’d be fine if Gard sat him a few games for that.
I thought the guy missed the free throw and they did not convert on the possession. But whatever, Wisconsin had so many chance to tie/win the game but failed to take advantage in the last four minutes of the game. But that was a weird play, wtf was he thinking. Literally a #### move.I was pretty shocked by that and it changed my view of the guy. The tweet is a bit misleading though. He got a flagrant 1 which was a game changer at the time. I’d be fine if Gard sat him a few games for that.
I'm hoping the freshmen get some time soon, they need to deepen the bench.I am thinking Michigan will cover the 17.5 points vs. South Carolina today at home.
He's Muggle apparentlyDoes anyone know anything about this Micah Potter fella?
To add insult to injury, the top news result for his name identifies him as "Tracy Anderson's first husband, Eric"Sad to see Eric Anderson pass at such a young age. Met him at a wedding a few years back. A really nice guy.
I saw that. Very odd.To add insult to injury, the top news result for his name identifies him as "Tracy Anderson's first husband, Eric"
He was one of the best players in one of the better eras of the Big Ten. A lot of talent flowed through the Big Ten in the late 80's-early 90's.Sad to see Eric Anderson pass at such a young age. Met him at a wedding a few years back. A really nice guy.
Eh. They start out -IU is getting better but the Big10 will be pretty brutal. Michigan has been playing down to their competition lately. It would not shock me if they lost their next Big10 game.
