Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (2 Viewers)

I-L-L....

Big win at Ohio State. Curbelo has stepped up big time. Definitely something Illinois needed to be a legit title contender IMO.

Really thought the gophers would be good this year, as they had some very impressive wins in the first half of the season. But if you're going to play poorly on the second half of the season, I'm kinda glad they played really poorly so maybe we can get rid of Pitino. Hopefully we have a new head coach next year.

I put $140 on Illini at +1800 to win it all.

$50 on OSU at +1800 and $300 for Mich at +600.

Illini and Michigan's odds have dropped a bit since then.

Probably Baylor or Gonzaga will win it, but if not i think one of the big10 teams will.

Should lock them into the #1 seed.  First time ever for two Big10 teams to get 1 seeds as far as i am aware.
Nope

2001: Illinois and Michigan State

1993: Indiana and Michigan*

*Michigan's participation in the NCAA tournament was later vacated.

The University of Michigan basketball scandal, or the Ed Martin scandal, concerned National Collegiate Athletics Association(NCAA) rules violations resulting from the relationship between the University of Michigan (or Michigan), its men's basketball program, and booster Eddie L. "Ed" Martin. The violations principally involved payments booster Martin made to several players to launder money from an illegal gamblingoperation. It is one of the largest incidents involving payments to athletes in American collegiate history. An initial investigation by the school was joined by the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). As a result of this investigation, Michigan's basketball program was punished with sanctions.

Damn that's pretty good even though they've had a very bad habit of playing down to competition this year.

I've been harping most the season someone needed to step up alongside Ayo/Kofi and Curbelo most definitely has. If he continues to play like he has recently, Illini will be a tough out. He's been absolutely huge the last 4 games (OSU/Michigan/Wisc/Nebraska)

They are now down to about +1200, but i got that during the Michigan because +1800 is great odds for a likily one seed.

Earlier in the season it seemed Curbelo would drive and then look to pass (would either be a highlight pass or turnover) or get himself trapped.  The last few games he has gone for the layups.  If he can get his 3 point % up that would be huge. If the guy guarding him has to stay out on him that is one less body on Kofi, and Curbelo has shown he can drive around/past anyone.  Was glad to see him hit a 3 early today, get his confidence up.

Stupid question for the guys watching games live (I watch on DVR on a Chrome while my kids/wife watch their shows).  Does the audio stutter?  Seems to do it every game no matter what channel the game is on.  The video plays normal with no issues, but one of the announcers will randomly repeat something.  With the announcers at their homes I wasn't sure if it was an issue with their connection feeding the audio into the game.

If Illinois beats Michigan in the conference tourney final, do they fall in as the #3 overall seed and Michigan get the #4 overall? Would you rather play Baylor or Gonzaga in the National Semis? Or do you not worry about it. Plus Baylor and Illinois already played this year. Does the committee want to,avoid a rematch?

Neither Gonzaga or Baylor will make it that far.  I would rather play Gonzaga though.  That conference is a joke and you are playing in your back yard

Going on day 3 and still no word on Eli Brooks' injury.  Also some concern Wagner was hurt.  No sure why the silence, but two key players who are essential to Muchigan. And both somehow snubbed by the all big10 defensive team.

Maryland giving it to MSU. Assuming they hold on, seems like MSU is still safe. That win over Michigan will be huge for them.

Exciting first game of the quarters. Maryland came out on fire but Michigan recouped and won by 13.

Will be interesting to find out what went down between Juwan and Turgeon.

Just a rumor, but Turgeon told Juwan don’t hang your banner, because your banners come down. I think it was Juwan yelling at Morsell for being a ##### all game

This was denied by both coaches.

I really hope Livers is OK.  Some great matchups today.  The BIG10 final four could be as good as the real final four.

I don't see anything on Livers except some unknown Twitter posts.  Howard spoke about Livers 15 minutes of playing time and did not indicate any concern for injury.  It may have just been Livers was 0-5 and not having a good game and the bench step up and produced so they stayed with what was working.

Wagner is going to have to step up in a bigger role scoring and be the go to guy.  John's will see a significant bump in playing time.  OSU is getting +6 still with the news.

The Athletic reporting a stress fracture.  I played the +6, but don’t feel great about it. Also played Illinois-Iowa over 156ish.

From a missed dunk which would havegiven a 12 point lead and iced the game to now a 1 point leas with a minute left.

Really think this might be the illini year.  I have $100 on them +350 to win B10 tourney and $150 @ +1800 to win the NCAA.  Put another $100 down at their current odds of +1000.  I have some on Mixhigan but their wheels have fallen off and not a good bet now.
